Danp Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I like my Androids so sticking with them, I can see the appeal of iOS and W8 but for me Android is best. So, if you were to go and order a new one what would it be? I am edging towards to upcoming new HTC One as I have been very happy with my Sensation. Nexus 4 would be 2nd choice. Any others I should consider? I have a feeling a trip into town tomorrow will result in me coming home with a new phone
rad Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 What do you have now? I currently have an HTC Desire which I like the android side of things but for apps is rubbish due to its floppy disk size storage. I dont want anything bigger or I will need a man bag to carry it around with me. I did ask recently too.
stevenlong1985 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Samsung Galaxy S III, looks really good too! 1

aerospacemango Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Samsung Galaxy S III, looks really good too! +1 for this.... My step-daughter got one earlier this month and it is a fantastic phone (imo)....So much so that I am deffo getting one at the end of my current contract.....Unless I go W8! Or the Galaxy S IV is being shown off in 2 weeks time....that WILL be worth waiting for! (Although I'm not gonna spend THAT much on a phone/contract!!)
SHimmer45 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 i have a motorola razor I and so far iam pleased, not quite as big as other smart phones but i see this an advantage, also its something slightly different to the usual choices. decent battery life, as for the performance i dont really use all the features of smart phones but the UI is smooth and the screen is nice.
caffrey Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 My nexus 4 is great, i'd recommend it to anyone, great for what it costs
SimpleSi Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I'm looking to come back tomorrow with a Note 2 or the S3. (as long as Phones4U make me an offer I can't refuse - but it'd better be good as MrsW will be replacing the Stags head with something else if I DONT do a good deal At the moment, the S3/Note range is the no-brainer (is like buying a Merc - you know its going to work well) - you just need to decide on what size you want/need and what price There's always better/bigger/model coming out next week/month. Carpe diem I say Simon
Danp Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 The Note is nice, one sat on the desk next to me, but it's too large for me. I am now looking at the HTC Phone 8X, yes it's W8 and a short while ago I said I dont want a W8 phone but it is pretty and well spec'ed.
sted Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 not a desire s its a hateful rebooting has bluetooth issue pos
Danp Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Oh, now I have seen the Nokia Lumia 920, yes it's W8 but its pretty, LTE and nff
SimpleSi Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Aah - now we see you are just a tech tart who wants shiny shiny Si
Danp Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Aah - now we see you are just a tech tart who wants shiny shiny Si Maybe I like to get an up to date phone so it will last me the 18 month I will have it. Other thing is I have two on my contract, so two phones needed. Normally my wife gets the same as me anyway but it helps when bargaining in the shop. Last time we got a HTC Sensation each for free, 1000 mins each, free calls to each other, unlimited texts and 1gb each for £25 pm each

I might hold off for a month or so if my wife and I can get a joint contract!
Danp Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 OOooooo...where did you get that deal from? I might hold off for a month or so if my wife and I can get a joint contract! It was through Dial-a-phone, I would never ever recommend them apart from I was able to get a cracking deal. Had to jump though hoops to cancel all the crappy extras they sign you up to but it was worth the hassle. We are on EE network (was Orange at the time) 1
Guest Guest Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I've got the Nexus 4 and it's great. Only thing that I've found lets it down is the low aux volume as have many others (Issue 41034 - android - Audio Output of Android 4.2.1 on Nexus 4 Very Low - Android - An Open Handset Alliance Project - Google Project Hosting) but I'm hoping that it'll be fixed by Google sooner rather than later!
HaleStorm Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 @grnat install MusicFX, when you install it and activate it, it gives a good boost to the output, i had the same problem on my Galaxy Nexus

Supernova Rom Works like a treat!! Thanks paul
LosOjos Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 it'd better be good as MrsW will be replacing the Stags head with something else if I DONT do a good deal What, like Tesco beef mince?
Guest Guest Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 @grnat install MusicFX, when you install it and activate it, it gives a good boost to the output, i had the same problem on my Galaxy Nexus MusicFX is part of ICS and Jelly Bean already so it would make no difference to output
LosOjos Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 As the S4 is due out soon, you should be able to negotiate a good deal on an S3 - absolutely cracking phone, I've had one pretty much since launch day and still love it.
HaleStorm Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 MusicFX is part of ICS and Jelly Bean already so it would make no difference to output Ahh i've lost trcak of whats stock as I've had custom ROM on pretty much since it arrived at my house
MordyT Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Galaxy nexus here, solved the low volume by flashing cm10.
sonofsanta Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 My Nexus 4 is absolutely brilliant, especially for the price, the S3 is obviously lovely but not sure it's worth the enormous premium over the N4 - spec wise they're very similar, and the N4 has no 'orrible UI and will get Android updates forever and a day, unlike a lot of Android handsets.
Guest Guest Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Ahh i've lost trcak of whats stock as I've had custom ROM on pretty much since it arrived at my house Oh right, well unfortunately there's nothing that can be done on the Nexus 4 to boost volume apart from rooting and installing a patch but that's not ideal at all.
