RabbieBurns Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 We are after a bunch of laptop/convertible things for the little ones. Nothing fancy, but something that is robus. We have had a look at these, but it seems they no longer make them nimu NL2 10.1" Is there a model out there from a manufacturer that is comparable?
witch Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 A local school uses Classmates SMART Classmate 2S Convertible Touchscreen Netbook - Classmate 2S; Win 7 Starter, 320GB HDD, 2GB RAM, 6-Cell with 1 Year RTB and reckon they are quite robust 1
staningrimsby Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Very interesting Witch I might take a closer look at them myself.
RabbieBurns Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 Thanks Witch, they look very similar. I wonder if i can find an AU supplier.
ICTDirect_Dave Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I've got some Panasonic Toughbooks here... Might be overkill though! 1
DavidScott Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Staningrimsby - the product website says that a demo can be arranged in school and is probably worth a look Classmate 2S RabbieBurns - I'm not sure they'll come out to Australia for the demo but best of luck finding an alternative. The chassis is an Intel Classmate product so there should be an updated version available. All the latest products have Intel Atom N2600 processors inside so should be easy to spot.
witch Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I do know he is in Oz but I bet he can get them there - maybe not a demo, but he can read reviews etc
john Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 You maybe want something like the Fizzbook Spin that is resold by many people The Official Fizzbook Website is the website but I don't know who resells them down in Oz, but they are made in the far east so suspect there must be someone who can help.
Bananas Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 (edited) I bought the local school a Fizzbook in 2005 and it's still in mint condition and still perfectly usable. We paid crazy money at the time but that's because it came from Argos just after they first came out Edited February 21, 2013 by Bananas
RabbieBurns Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 All of the aforementioned seem to be some variation of the Intel Classmate laptop, which are all similar to the one in my OP. None of which I can find in AUS
RabbieBurns Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 looks like im gonna have to just buy them a tablet like an ipad or some other junk
