mrforgetful Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 As has been mentioned on here before a lot, when Microsoft licenses and media are purchased from Ramesys you do not get Official Media or access to the Volume Licensing downloads site. Does anyone know if that's the same for Adobe software? I'm wanting to purchase one of the Suite Site Licenses but if Adobe offer download services etc like MS then I'd like to spend a bit more and be able to take advantage of that.

I must have a hundred different CDs from them. Or am I different to everyone else? (We have a School Agreement package.) We have the genuine media for Adobe as well but I think we got the from Pugh. mrforgetful Posted July 17, 2007 Author Posted July 17, 2007 Last time I spoke to them I think i got to the bottom of the problem. We don't have a Microsoft Volume License Ageement, we buy our's outright. However we get low prices (around £30) per license. Or something. Wasn't explained too well.

I don't mind been charged for media, what really grates me about Ramesys is that they'll charge £20 media but it's just a 10p CDR they've burnt and stuck a Ramesys sticker on. I can do that myself! But I'd like a legit CD copy for reliability, and they look nice!

Strange I always got official MS cds with the holograph on from Ramesys when ever I have ordered media from them (for Microsoft software only tho). Maybe it depends on your region/agreement.

The invoices and Licence details we receive have a Select Agreement number on them, but I believe it's one taken out in the name of a few schools and as such it's not possible to give everyone the disks and/or access to the downloads.

I think I read that on the internet somewhere so it must be true. We got a full CS DVD from ramesys, not one of their bootlegs.

I am sure that the resident supercomputer can locate the exact threads but here is brief synopsis of conversations with both Ramesys and MS. Ramesys provide licences in a variety of formats because MS sell them that way. Schools Agreement, Select Agreement (for an individual school), Select Agreement for a group of schools (the largest of these being the one on behalf of the SSAT and all member schools), Student Licences ... and so on. If you have a Select Agreement under the SSAT umbrella you do not have access to any download sites, otherwise you would have access to *all* the software that is possible to buy under this Select Agreement and not just what you purchase. This is a big No No as far as Ramesys and MS are concerned. The fact that this particular agreement gives you a damn good price it is felt that the lack of downloads (and having to remember to ask for media depending on how many licences you are getting) is a small price to pay. If you want official media you just have to ask ... it costs a bit more as it costs more for them to buy on your behalf ... yes, a CDR with a Remesys label may feel it is not worth as much as they charge, but give them a break for the savings elsewhere. If you have a Schools Agreement you come under a different hat ... and if you have an individual Select Agreement or Volume Licence Agreement then you get access to the download site for *your* schools and *your* school only. Some people who may have been on other agreements and have moved to a different one may still have access to certain things (this is from experience of talking to individual schools and not MS or Ramesys now) ... but the above pretty much applies for anyone starting from scratch or is, at least, the way it is meant to be. spc-rocket Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Hi, We use select agreement and have bought licenses from Ramesys and if you ask they usually they chuck in the CDs as well. As for wheather they are burned on normal CDs or proper MS CDs i just don't give damn really as long as its legal copies and you are covered i'm happy. They provide good prices have been really good to us with our license orders. As Tony has mentioned they provide really good prices that i don't mind not having the access to downlods or CDs. Ash.
