marsdenprimary Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Hello, We've suddenly encountered an error in FMS which says the following: Unknown table type. Permission denied. File C:\PDOXUSRS.NET Anyone know why this has happened and how to fix it please? Cheers
RPilkington Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 found this on Capitas support site, I have had the same error in the past and it is usually something with permissions. Have you tried logged in as Administrator? This situation generally occurs if the user does not have permissions to the LOCKDIR directory containing the PDOXUSRS.NET file. If the FMS program files are installed locally on each workstation: 1. Alter the Net DIR within the BDE 32 configuration on each networked machine. This will enable the BDE to access to the temporary files. 2. Find the BDE Administrator (Start|Settings|Control Panel|BDE administrator) 3. Go to the Configuration Tab. 4. On the tree on the left hand side, select the Configuration|Drivers|Native|Paradox 5. Set NET DIR to the Drive letter and lock directory where the Finance.exe resides i.e. C:\LOCKDIR 6. C:\LOCKDIR should be created before any orders are added or edited by the user on their workstation, the user must have permission to create and write to this local directory. 7. On the tree go into Configuration|System|Init Set LOCAL SHARE to FALSE. If the FMS Program files are installed centrally on a networked Drive, i.e. the Finance.exe is shared out from the server, then please ensure that the following settings are in place: 1. Alter the Net DIR within the BDE 32 configuration on each networked machine. This will enable the BDE to control sharing of the temporary files. 2. Find the BDE Administrator Start | Settings | Control Panel. 3. Go to the Configuration Tab. 4. On the tree on the left hand side, select Configuration|Drivers |Native |Paradox Set the Net Dir to the Shared Drive letter and lock directory where the Finance.exe is shared from the server S:\LOCKDIR (Please Note that the users must have access to the lock directory on the networked drive) On the tree go into Configuration|System|INIT Set local share to TRUE. If the above advice fails please go into your Setups folder, and run the most recent FMSApplicationSetup.exe you have. This will re-install FMS, and hopefully resolve the issue. 1

None of the info worked for me sorry. We don't have a LOCKDIR directory in any of the folders where FMS is installed... Tried to reinstall and still no joy- getting the same error.
Ghostgame Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Check your C:\ drive and see if it is there. If not there check C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Borland Shared\Bde
matt40k Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Hello, We've suddenly encountered an error in FMS which says the following: Unknown table type. Permission denied. File C:\PDOXUSRS.NET Anyone know why this has happened and how to fix it please? Cheers Your setups directory is out of date, ask for a clean setups directory or install SOLUS3. New installer puts the PDOXUSRS.net file in c:\programdata\fms as Win7 etc doesn't allow you to write to files in the root of drives, even with admin rights - is one of those new security features. The Capita KB (like above) refer to the days when SIMS was pre-MS-SQL and the database was stored in a flat-file on the database. 2

Think an update would solve it? It's not happening on other machines which is why it seems odd.
matt40k Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 It's one of the infrastructure setup files that SOLUS2 doesn't update, the old one doesn't change the path from the root of c:, so you have to do it manually. I'm guessing this is a new machine?

I'm guessing this is a new machine? No it's not a new machine that's why it's a bit weird... I've been away this weekend and Monday so it might have been sorted now. Fortunately we have a support contract for SIMS but I wanted to try and sort it before them as they take a lifetime to fix anything.
PhilNeal Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Who is "they"? If it's our team please let me know.
marsdenprimary Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 Who is "they"? If it's our team please let me know. We have a contract through BT Business Systems I think... Used to be OneConnect.
matt40k Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 No it's not a new machine that's why it's a bit weird... That would drive me nuts, somethings clearly changed!
marsdenprimary Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 Had a check this morning and it's been fixed. Wish I'd seen what they did!! Oh well- at least our bursar is smiling again and I have one less job on my list EDIT: Just added another job to my list. Oh the life of a techie...
