Popular Post localzuk Posted July 5, 2017 Popular Post Posted July 5, 2017 (edited) EduGeek has a Discord server. Discord is a live chat room, where we can discuss things in real-time. We have channels for all sorts of issues - work, sccm, coding, foood, games, music etc... Everyone is welcome - Instructions: 1. Join the discord 2. PM me on here (or post a message in this thread) 3. I'll confirm your account and give you the right permissions to access the rest of the server (20 + channels) To connect, use the link below: https://discord.gg/JKfPUXu NOTE: When you join you should rename your nickname to your EduGeek username if your Discord is different. The first room is a guest room you can access until we set you up with member tags, change your username to match your EduGeek username and post a message in that room and we will update you asap. mrbios Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Added myself in, I love how popular discord has got. So much nicer than mumble, being able to move between "servers" with ease

zag Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Liking the new server! I downloaded the windows app so it just sits in the quick launch tray idling all the time.
ZeroHour Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Just a bump for anyone who missed this over the summer along with updated instructions in the first post.
zag Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 Some of my old IRC groups seem to be catching onto discord now, if they can move to it, anyone can
mavhc Posted September 19, 2017 Posted September 19, 2017 I'll just load up slack, and hangouts, and whatsapp, and facebook messenger, and telegram, and discord, and teamspeak, and irc, that'll make life better
mavhc Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Have you considered an open protocol so people can use whatever they like, instead of being locked in to a commercial service that requires apps to be installed and will try to make money off you somehow?
localzuk Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 No, as this requires minimal admin.

All this talk about Slack reminds me of this... On a serious note though, thanks very much for this, very useful talking in real time, not only about gaming or random stuff, but the work-talk is a god send too!

ZeroHour Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 Have you guys considered Slack? Yeah I have looked at it but Discord has kind of made it less useful as we have the work chat in there as well right now but always happy to re-evaluate. Have you considered an open protocol so people can use whatever they like, instead of being locked in to a commercial service that requires apps to be installed and will try to make money off you somehow? We used to have a Jabber server to handle this as well but it was a bit of a nightmare to keep ticking over although it may be better now than when we used it several years ago. I had to hack at the java to get the auth to work with EduGeek details.
