Hello, We have had a lot of people contact us recently saying that they have a Ruckus ZD 1000/1100/3000 with some form of 7XXX Access Points and that they've wanted some advice on whether they should upgrade and which path they should take. I've also noticed a few threads on here with similar questions. As result of the conversations I have put together a document offering a few different upgrade routes focusing on two scenarios: Scenario One - We have an organisation with a ZoneDirector 3000 and 40 x 7363 AP deployment. Scenario Two - We have an organisation with a ZoneDirector 1000/1100 with 12 x 7363 AP deployment I've also included some information on wave 1 v wave 2. This is all based on what is currently available on the market. You can view or download it here (no gates, no forms for access) I hope it can offer some advice and assistance to some of you. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on this thread or on a PM. We've put this together ourselves, so if anything isn't clear, let me know If you would like your own upgrade options put together, send me your current set-up and I will work with our technical team to get some options over to you. Thanks, Josh

Hello all, Just a quick one, the latest Ruckus Wireless education promotion is due to expire on the 30th September. The promotion allows us to build you a personalised wireless bundle, as long as it meets certain criteria, and provides some great savings off the RRP. You have the flexibility to mix the AP models, which include the 11Ac R700, the enterprise 7982 and the 7372 access points. If you’re thinking about getting a wireless solution, or would like a competitive price put forward, as long as you’re not already registered with Ruckus by another partner, we can get a price over to you. If you’re unsure on the AP count we can run a free of charge predictive site survey as long as you have a set of accurate site plans that you’re able to send across, with a brief description of your environment and wireless goals. We will use specialist software to build a set of heat maps and predict signal strength, signal-to-noise ratio (based on channel overlap), PHY rates, signal coverage and data rates. All this will help us determine the optimal number of Ruckus access points for your site. Any questions please feel free to PM me and I will come back to you ASAP.

Ruckus Wireless has announced the expansion of its line of Smart 802.11ac ZoneFlex™ access points (APs) with the launch of four new models. These include the new Ruckus ZoneFlex R500 (2x2:2) and ZoneFlex R600(3x3:3) indoor dual-band (2.4/5 GHz) mid-range models, and two new Ruckus ZoneFlex T300 Series outdoor 802.11ac APs, the ZoneFlex T300e omnidirectional model, which includes support for optional external 5 GHz antennas, and the ZoneFlex T301s 120 degree sectorized beam model with a sector adaptive antenna. They all feature Ruckus BeamFlex+ technology, which provides a stronger device signal by adapting to a mobile device’s orientation and location. BeamFlex+ can enhance the user experience by helping to ensure a consistent wireless signal. Without it, changing client device orientation can cause up to a 2.5x performance difference. For example, this can mean a change from 25 Mbps to 10 Mbps. BeamFlex+ eliminates this variability and is designed to ensure optimum performance for any client device orientation. They also feature ChannelFly™ dynamic channel management technology for predictive channel selection based on real-time capacity analysis of all RF channels. The new outdoor ZoneFlex T300 Series APs also feature the industry’s smallest and lightest form factors. You can find out a bit more about the launches from the Ruckus press release on our website, where you will also be able to download datasheets.

We have had a lot of organisations contact us recently as they look set to take the leap from an 11n wireless network to the latest 11ac protocol but are unsure of what route to take. We commonly hear; I want to upgrade my Ruckus network, but what are my options? In years passed by it was a simpler decision when it came to upgrading your network. You either upgraded your ZoneDirector, part or all of your AP deployment, or all of the above. Now customers are faced with the additional options of having a cloud controller (vSZ), or no controller at all (Unleashed), as well as the Wave 1 and Wave 2 11.ac AP options. If you find yourself in this position, please get in touch and we can discuss your options with you and find the best upgrade path for your needs. For those of you that haven’t dealt with us before, Net-Ctrl is a value-add technology reseller based in Ipswich, Suffolk. We have been selling, installing and integrating Ruckus for longer than I can remember. We’re a top tier partner with Ruckus, we’re classed as an ‘Alpha Dog’ partner. We have our own in-house team of wireless engineers that have obtained CWNA and Ruckus certs. We can offer FOC predictive surveys, or visit your site and perform a Hybrid site survey, so you can see what we expect to achieve with your install. In the UK we have installed Ruckus into over 400 education establishments. Not only do we plan and install the equipment, but we’re able to support you with any technical issues that arise. So, if you have Ruckus, or are thinking of starting your own Ruckus journey, please send me a PM with your current situation and what you’re trying to achieve and we will help.
