What do you get if you run adprep32 without switches or with '/?'?
-
And as always in this kind of situation, it's best not to be on your own when opening the mailbox.
-
Strange... get it unblocked quick! Here's the info: Only an administrator can grant full access to another user's mailbox, by using Active Directory Users and Computers. To give someone access to another users mailbox, you must have the appropriate permissions to modify user objects in Active Directory. For more information about these permissions, see Windows Help. Procedure To give a user full access to another user's mailbox 1. In Active Directory Users and Computers, right-click the organization domain name, point to View, and then click Advanced Features. 2. Click the Users container or the organizational unit where the user is located. 3. Right-click the user account, and then click Properties. 4. Click Exchange Advanced, and then click Mailbox Rights. 5. Click Add to add a user to the list of users that are allowed to access this mailbox. 6. In the permissions list, for the Full Mailbox Access permission, select the Allow check box.

@Kevbaz: The first link in my original post should work for you as far as setting permissions is concerned (and is GUI based, so nice and easy). Then access is either through owa as suggested (using the account details of the person you've given permission), or through the Outlook method mentioned previously. Cheers Will

If you don't have locally hosted exchange (or you don't have full control), contact your providers support team to give you access. If you do have full control, then the above suggestions should work perfectly (they always did when I worked with 2003). You can give any user full access to any other user's mailbox. Removed permissions from all user's start menu, to only allow admins to see it, and it seems to be working as required Thanks to everyone for suggestions

Staff may have their laptops on at the same time as being logged on to the desktop, so this isn't really an option, as the shortcuts would appear on their laptop desktop (and probably scare some of our staff). I may put a deny on the all user's start menu for staff users, or hide all the items on it... will let you know what method I come up with. Seems rather silly of Microsoft not to split desktop and start menu for this when they do for a lot of other things!
-
That would add it to the staff user's laptop desktop as well, which is not what I'm aiming for. I may have to allow that policy, and remove all items from all users start menu (copying them to the administrators start menu instead). Thanks for the help

After gradually enabling GP settings, it seems that "remove common program groups from Start Menu" also removes them from the desktop... Can anyone confirm that behaviour? It's annoying to say the least if that's what it does. I don't want the common bits in the start menu, but do want them on the desktop! Cheers Will
-
I thought that was the case, and after testing with a clean GP, it does work in that way, will see if I can find anything in the previously setup GP that would cause the problem. Tis very strange... but all working now Thanks for your help

Hi, Does anyone know if this can be done: I'm trying to redirect user's desktops to another place, but would also like to keep icons from the Public Desktop on there... is this possible? I know that for start menu you can allow "common start menu items", is there a setting for Desktop? I'd like to make it possible so that staff can have access to things they have on their desktop on their laptops, available on our new TS, whilst making sure that the items they should have on the TS desktop do not disappear. Cheers Will

Dear all, Due to a new Thin Client setup, and limitations with running pykoticon on a terminal server (it runs as a server as far as I can tell, so having multiple copies for multiple users wouldn't appear to work), I've decided to remove the "are you sure you want to print" dialogue, and present the user's balance on the desktop as a program. I therefore created a little program in VB .net to run on all the machines in the school. There are 3 prerequisites: 1) PostgreSQL ODBC Driver (deployed by GPO); 2) On 64 bit machines, the DSN will need # manually creating (haven't figured creation of a 32 bit DSN) - If I get time, I'll look at sorting this out; 3) The pykota database server must allow connections from other IPs (ie your client IP addresses), I set this for the read only pykota user only. If anyone would like a copy of the sln, PM me your email address, and I'll send it across. If enough people are interested, I'll tidy the code up a bit, and post the entire thing on here. I would put a compiled version up, but I've left the configuration bits (server name, db name, password etc) in the code. Cheers Willott

@Jobos: You have a PM with my email, feel free to send and I'll dissect what I can! Cheers

The logs of the BES server come in useful here... I can't remember the log file to look in, but have a quick look through for items occuring when you try to do the sync. A google of any of the lines may provice you with the clue you need to beat Vodafone with! Cheers Will PS, which Council are you under (just wondering if you're close enough to pop and help!)

Welcome to Vodafone's Blackberry support.... If you start BES activation from the BB, where does it stop?
-
BES is quite good at logging. You should be able to see from the logs whether your BES is able to connect through to RIM. I think the files are usually installed somewhere within "c:\program files\Research In Motion\BES\logs" (or somewhere nearby). IIRC the router log is the useful one to check connectivity through to RIM. If you're able to show successful connectivity here, I would question whether the HT has BES service on his device (it's a purchasable extra from most phone companies in the UK, they'll give you BIS unless you ask). If you're able to sync by USB, and have connectivity to RIM, then this is the only option. If that's the case, then BIS is usually straight forward to sort out. Maybe a quick call to the phone service provider may give you some clue. If the head gets you put on their account as authorised to talk to you, or calls them and hands the phone over, you may find that something needs to be enabled their end. From the fact that you've said they have a BIS address, I'm guessing it's Vodafone (Orange didn't use to give you a BIS address, just the use of the BIS interface to obtain email from other accounts). Exchange 2007 Outlook Anywhere Stopped Working

Does running outlook with the rpcdiag switch give any clues? Just a thought. -
Xenserver network bonds
Willott replied to cookie_monster's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Ah, that's a thought, I'm running 5.0 currently. I may do upgrade to 5.5 over the summer, so I'll see what happens then. Cheers -
Xenserver network bonds
Willott replied to cookie_monster's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
I don't have the storage interface (as we have Fibre), but I do have the management interface on a bonded nic which is shared with the VMs LAN traffic. And I have a pool running happily with 3 xen servers Cheers Will -
Just read through the thread, and it would appear that the slow warranty response is a more recent thing. I had my replacement about 3 years ago now, so I may well steer clear of them for the warranty issue as well now... shame, cos they're rather good looking monitors!
-
I've got a couple of Neovos at home, and although one did die, the support was good, got a replacement unit reasonably quickly (they didn't have the specific unit available, so I got an 18" instead of the 17" I had previously).

According to Matthew (who has been very very helpful so far), they are hoping to release the firmware in the next week or so. They will also be testing a number of USB audio interfaces, and have a generic driver in built, so any usb audio devices that comply with standards should work (there is a USB audio standard). I'll let Matthew clarify or correct any of that Cheers Will

@tobyhacker: Thanks, have sent contact to local helpdesk, so will see what they come back with. @bossman: Apparently it's 7.116, we've got the June release due soon from what the LA said at the end of last week. Cheers

Bit of a strange one this... We've got teachers using Profile Manager to do reports, and some teachers want to add additional information to their comments, so "free type" in the comments box. However, during their typing (at what seems like random timing), the comments box will lose focus. SIMS itself still has focus, so as far as I can tell it's not an external program grabbing focus, but something internal that's grabbing the focus. Has anyone else seen this issue or know how to solve it? Cheers Will

Ignore me... misunderstood what Matthew had said...
