Is this just one flat network, I.E are the DC, Smoothwall and the APs all on the same VLAN / Subnet?

Also would suggest your problem is likely the Smoothie, Double check your firewall rules and make sure that UDP 7351 is allowed. Another thing to do is open up the real time firewall logs on the Smoothwall, plug in the address of one of the switches into the source address. Give the switch a restart and look at the results. If the packets are being dropped / blocked there's your cause.

I'd take Unifi over Instant ON, however in most cases would go for Aruba Instant over Unifi. Wish Aruba hadn't named the two so similarly, when they are quite different products.

We've not been all that impressed with Lenovo lately, longevity wise they just don't seem to be lasting all that well.

Behringer is always a good middle of the road brand. the Xenyx range is where I'd be looking for something basic for a primary school. We use the X32 range a bit, but they are a lot more complex and would almost certainly be overkill for a primary.

I'd strongly suggest you don't join the Hyper-V host to the domain, if it can be avoided. With clusters we always use a separate domain just for the cluster, last thing you want is a problem with your primary domain causing issues with the Hyper-V host.

100% Apple School Manager + something like Mosyle which has a free tier. Unless you do Apple stuff properly you're likely to end up with this or far worse, a load of activation locked iPads and no idea of the Apple ID they're attached to.

We've worked with plenty of wireless systems, but the only ones we've found to be solid are Sennheiser or Sure. Both of which aren't cheap, even second hand G3 units still hold their value pretty well. If I could actually get people to put laptops in the trolley I might look at this. Keep wandering the school picking up laptops from every corner of the school. It's completely unmanageable.
