  1. Have you heard anything else? We now have the message to say they can't be reactivated after 8th November, so currently trying to find a workaround until we can purchase A3 licences.
  2. Hi all, I've been given the task to now photograph school events, as it has some form of power it belongs to IT right? They would also like me to photograph the students for school photos, up to now I have been using my own camera for this with the schools SD Cards, I'm a Nikon user so would prefer to stick with that and have about 1K to use. Is there anywhere you can recommend to purchase one that would accept PO numbers. Thanks in advance.
  3. LOL! Me too, I just never gave them a choice.. I'm lucky in the fact I get most of my decisions backed by the powers that be.
  4. Have a look at Lynx 7, I've installed it here with it being able to convert old notebook files if signed in... Works well and enough for most teachers here depending on what you're using it for, ours was just a 'notepad'. Lynx 7 is a free download. https://www.lynxcloud.app
  5. Yep! Free free indeed... I was going to start using CleverLynx 4 which was as you a 'freebie' when purchasing the screens, but most staff were happy with SMART and it was cumbersome... You have to sign in for it to convert Smart Notebook files, but easy enough with SSO and it keeps you logged in...
  6. We're currently using Lynx Cloud software after moving away from SMART, you can convert your Notebook files if signed in and work from any device... Pretty good and it's free, it's a learning curve for some but definitely better than error messages and silly amounts of money! https://www.lynxcloud.app
  7. Totally appreciate what you're saying, it isn't the best method as I originally mentioned. I will look into doing something like this, but still my issue remains. It is now more of a I know it can be done so why isn't it working like it should.
  8. Ok, strangely I can create a new user with no password using the 'Active Directory Administrative Center' with no password and I receive no error, which surely shows no password policy is in place stopping it?
  9. @Katy, again thanks for the reply.. That looks like how I may have to go, just seems odd that it's only started happening over the last week or so as I definitely added users without a password about 3 weeks ago with no changes. @TriggerHappyUK, most definitely.. Normally have no issues, it's been left an hour or so and I normally get the desired effect even with a gpupdate /force. The policy doesn't seem to be applying from Lithnet as the minimum on there is 8 and it allows me to use a space so there's only one character.
  10. Hi @Katy, yes I've checked that and no fine grained password policies are applied to the user. Thanks though! @TriggerHappyUK The password rules are applied through the default domain policy, but the setting is set to 0 with Lithnet over arching, but with this disabled I still don't get the expected result of setting a blank password.
  11. Hi all, I know blank passwords aren't the greatest and they aren't used much in our environment, but we have the need for certain uses to have an account with a blank password (nursery, KS1) I appreciate if we give them a password they'll learn it, but that isn't a way teachers want to go and currently no backing to enforce this. Down to the issue, I have tried creating a user with a blank password as I usually do but for some reason this time I am unable to due to the complexity, history etc requirements. The domain policy hasn't changed and this is set to minimum password length as 0, there are no fine grained policies enforced and the policy applied to the user is minimum length 0. Has anybody had this before? Not sure where else to look to begin to diagnose as there is no logs in event viewer either for the failure to create the user. Currently running Server 2016 Thanks in advance, Luke
  12. Hmm, tried disabling any add-ins in Word? After that I'm stuck for ideas for now lol
  13. Does WinWord.exe process stay active even after closing the individual or does that close as it should when you close Word?
  14. Can you kill the process in task manager to see if allows the next?
  15. Version of Word? I had this issue which caused similar goings on using the desktop application of O365 rather than the Office 2010 which was on previously.
  16. We were with ParentMail for a while and like you say support is atrocious and trying to get an answer that was of any worth was even harder. I ended up solving most of the issues myself. We have just moved over to Eduspot, which although has much better support etc, after using it I still don't 100% rate the product. It seems like it just hasn't been thought through fully which is a shame.
  17. I had this issue before upgrading our servers, upon looking into it a bit more I found that it was because there were multiple drives about to fail hence the inability to just hot swap the one although one of them didn't not show any issues. I replaced a couple of drives (as the others had previously been replaced) and restored from a backup. Before taking them offline I had a further two failures which I was able to hot swap. I never came across the issue again, so may have been pot luck, but definitely something to consider. Thanks,
  18. I think you'd get yourself in trouble with that, we were once told to do it by a consultant to save money on purchasing apps for the iPads until I came along. Fair to say the advice wasn't given again and we signed up to VPP. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about managing kindles to be of any more help. I would stay away from purchasing once though and buy as many books as you do devices.
  19. Hi John, I contacted them about where our rests and request to change it and I got a response the same day. I used this email [email protected]
  20. Which solution are you looking at? We block things such as explicit content, siri profanity filter etc etc. If you're going to be looking into Lightspeed I would suggest literally going down the policy list and asking yourself is it needed if you're unsure block it and someone will tell you if they need it once they can't. Better to be proactive than reactive in my opinion. Whilst you're at it, when you say enrolling in your MDM do you have your devices in the DEP? I would suggest this as it auto enrols and makes life much easier. Let me know if you need anything / have any questions I might be able to answer from experience.
  21. Policies > Window Settings > Printer connections works for me
  22. Which antivirus are you using? We're using Sophos and it gives you the ability to block the Windows Store so it's still there doesn't delete anything, but it can't be opened. We tried GPO but it didn't seem to stop it from opening.
  23. Yes as others have said, we no longer use an Apple ID on the iPads due to the reasons you mention above. All applications are purchased through VPP and pushed via the MDM, we can also locate and put the device in lost mode from the MDM and therefore don't need the Apple ID.
  24. Which printers are you using? We use Konica Minolta and every now and then it won't be from IE or edge, but will from chrome the event log just says that error deletion and nothing further. I contacted Konica for this and they didn't have any reasoning behind it.
  25. Our computers are scheduled to check for updates and install at 17:30 and shut down at 19:30. I've had no issues with this and all finish updates when powered on in the morning.
