iSAMS is aimed at the independent school market with boarding requirements particularly in mind. If you match the criteria, then it is pretty much the only game in town.

Just for reference this doesn't work and I can't find a way around it. Problem: Log into Windows with Domain account > Open Chrome > GPO forces sign in to Chrome > User is presented with a login box I can't find a way to make Chrome use SSO and automatically sign in using the Windows 10 Credentials. Anyone got any ideas?

Out of interest why do they want to move to Engage (never heard of it before) the usual path is to move from WCBS to iSAMS. That seems to be the favoured solution at the moment.

A or C are your best options. Citrix is far and away better than RDS for application deployment, especially if you want students to use school owned apps when they are not at school - Citrix is also better for network usage but it does cost more.

We spent a year with RMBuzz logging various tickets and not really ever getting to the bottom of the problems. The biggest issue was speed. With RMBuzz, websites took noticeably longer to load. RM made lots of config changes to our Google Admin to fix the issue but the final straw for us was when we discovered that the pupils were enabling developer mode on their Chromebooks and just switching RMBuzz off. We use our firewall to do the filtering. The Chromebooks all stay onsite so they have to go through our firewall.

We ditched RMBuzz because of exactly the problems you describe, it caused more problems than it solved.

You can ping the servers from the laptops because they are all on the same network. The default gateway is the problem. Can you ping the gateway over Wifi or if you physically connect a network cable to the laptop? Until you get the laptops talking to their default gateway they won't be able to talk to anything else not on the same Vlan How is the IPaddress, subnet and default gateway assigned to the laptops - DHCP?

Not a network expert and I don't know SWGfL but start with your gateways. Can you ping your internet facing router/firewall from the laptops? Are the servers and laptops on the same vlan/subnet?

That looks like an error on Microsoft's part. I suspect if you try to do the upgrade it will fail.

LTSC is designed for stability - no new features or functionality will be added to the OS Security and bug fixes will still be applied. This is why you don't get Edge in LTSC you only get IE11 - IE11 is not going to get new features only security patches The benefit of LTSC is that you can treat it like XP or Windows 7 - deploy it and forget about it for 3+ years The negatives are that new features are missing If you deploy 2016 LTSC to a shiny new Surface Pro then certain features will be missing such as most of the touch functionality which only came out in later feature releases. It is a similar story with applications like One Drive - Files on demand is great but isn't included in LTSC 2016, You either need to upgrade to LTSC 2019 or accept that you won't be able to roll out Files on demand. Additionally newer hardware isn't supported. If you are using LTSC from 2016 and you buy new workstations you may find that the new CPU's aren't supported since drivers haven't been released for the LTSC versions. The same goes for all new hardware and peripherals. Basically the bottom line is that if you think you will install your workstations and then not touch them, go with LTSC. Microsoft don't want you using LTSC.

Take ownership of the folder as an admin. Properties > Security > Advanced > Check who is the owner and replace with admin Ensure you also replace the child object permissions.

LTSC/B used to be the recommended long term solution but Microsoft seem very unhappy that people are using it and it has lots of the nicer stuff removed - additionally you don't get any of the feature updates which can be a real headache if you need Files on Demand etc. Win 10 Education is basically Enterprise but with some of the bloat removed for schools - it doesn't go far enough in my opinion but this is the OS to use. Windows 10 Pro is designed for home users - it is Home but with some extra bells

Ask them to use SMS or an alternative email account as their 2nd form of authentication. I don;t think there is a way to do what you want.

It will depend upon price and either a stacked or chassis will work well. I would go stacked for redundancy, ease of upgrade and expandability - the additional admin overhead isn't that much of an issue.
