I use a Samsung S6 (it bounces well) and my Whatsapp is backed up to Google Drive so Android to Android has worked fine. I haven't tested it going to the iPhone but it may pull through the back up from a Google Drive backup but it would be a free solution if it works!

If it's an Android device does it have Google Hangouts on? It's a free service that you can log in to and manage from a computer if you set up the account.

It is a societal shift as almost everyone uses technology so to try to belittle someone based on the fact they take a keen interest in technological systems is like finding out someone is a plumber and trying to insult them based on their knowledge of plumbing systems!

I like the Kapp functionality for use in meeting rooms and for office use, noting down plans of the week, brainstorming, etc. In terms of software, we have the smaller unit that we take to events and all I need to do is plug it in then use an app on my phone or tablet to create a shareable link (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smarttech.kapp&hl=en_GB), no extra licensing required!

That's a shame but yes you can still use a key. When you order a license through an authorised reseller SMART will send you an email with the key on. If you also have an admin email assigned for the SMART Portal you will also be able to register and see the keys assigned to the school(s). Hi m0bov, The new licensing system uses a Google or Microsoft sign in basis so with our VeryPC domain email address we can sign in via the Microsoft option. I think the LGFLmail is office 365 based? I used to do Media at college and unless the lighting was even all over the wall then it caused image distortion when rendering it on Final Cut. This was 10 years ago though so I expect it has become better at recognising the desired colour since then! If you can get blackout blinds and lights to illuminate the wall/green drop down screen as dhicks mentions this would be a good set up, although you would need a light source close to the wall/green drop down screen to prevent shadows from the presenter casting a shadow. The only challenge may be from the filming users wanting to have low light source on themselves however the solution is that the foreground non-green screen can be light adjusted. My old Macbook has a free app called SFX that could render a green screen in real time, I'm not sure if there is a free Windows equivalent though.

You could also use the Google Jamboard that can be accessed via Chrome and share the link for collaboration via the Meet chat function.

I second Reverend_Dan, from personal experience the Microsoft Whiteboard app is fantastic and allows easy collaboration. I've had a play with Promethean's Classflow and with it being online and having the ability to push the presentation out to student devices it has very similar capabilities to SMART Notebook.

is it a synchronised folder? If it is being backed up when you delete it locally then it may be restoring it, I've had this with Dropbox and Google photos. It may also be being sent to a "recycle bin" (Samsungs have one annoyingly) so you could try delete then empty bin.

Hi Rad, How wide and deep (roughly) is the cupboard? I've seen lots of different stands but some have a bit of a wide base so it would be good to know the depth. Also, are the presenters going to be using wires to connect to the screen or would they want a a wireless solution? I've seen Vivitek's Novoconnect running on an M-Touch and Avocor board which is a great wireless option but it depends on the wifi in the hall! Many thanks, Lewis

I used to work in a phone shop from the time Android first really entered the market with a HTC Magic (what a phone it was!!), from then I used to upgrade every year but recently (past 3 years) I've stuck with a Samsung S6 as I use any power demanding apps and the camera isn't awful. From my experience, if your current phone is working well for the RDP then go to the shops and have a play until you find a suitable replacement, most networks have a return policy if it isn't any good just return it and go back to the old one. Sorry I couldn't give any more info on the new HTC device, on GSM it says the screen is the same resolution (31 less ppi density) but it does have an Octocore processor so my guess is the improvement with the RDP app would be that it runs faster.

Hi everyone, Just to let you know, we have an Interactive Technology Suite here at VeryPC if you wanted to come in and use the panels. We also work closely with Promethean so if you wanted we could discuss arranging a demonstration coming to you. In my experience the Classflow software is free to use from Promethean and can incorporate the old flipchart files that may have been created using ActivInspire. Students and teachers can also collaborate using this online tool if you wanted to use tablets or Chromebooks and resources could be pulled from a google drive. There are other panel options and it depends how the users want to lead with the boards, whether they are going to be used as an extension of the user’s laptop (a native OS is not needed) or if they are going to operate on their own (Full Android, Windows OPS or the brand’s OS). I have a few suggestions, it can depend on a few different other phone factors but it's worth trying these; 1) turn the "back up to google drive" off, close the settings application and switch the device off then back on and re-enable the sync 2) if you are using a wifi try using a mobile network/phone hotspot as an alternate wifi source 3) i've had it before when the google account needs to be signed out and in again to re-authorise the connection 4) depending on the manufacturer/android version, sometimes each section needs to be turned on to enable sync 5) again depending on the version, some have security features when the time & date has to be updated and location turned on (I haven't come across this one personally) i hope one of these helps!
