Hello, I was wondering if anybody new of any programs that you can run over a network which can produce a hardware spec of each computer on the domain, and return it to the server, preferably with the dns name or ip. Any help would be much loved. JayR

I had this problem with a visually impaired child at a primary school. I solved it by configuring as a user with a roaming profile the accessability wizard. Any changes made were saved onto the profile and not permenently on the computer. Fair enough the profile takes a few extra seconds to load but the smile on that poor childs face when she could see the cursor made it all worthwhile. JayR

Hello, I'm not entirely sure what or how it works, but my incling is that using it would enable me to remotely format and reinstall XP sp2 to all computers connected to the domain. Is this a good incling? If it is how does it work, is it succesfull, reliable, decent? Even if it only works on 100 out 250 computers at my place it will make my summer holidays (full time contract all holidays ) much easier. (also enable be to watch more films and try setting up some LAN parties. Thanks JayR

Hello, I am currnetly looking into trying to bribe my boss into funding an MCSE training package.It costs 1000 big ones and I was wondering if CDROM learning the microsoft way was worth it or as good as some good ol hands on learning (which we all prefer really.) I was also wondering with VISTA looming over our heads whether it would be worth taking the XP unit even though it's bound to be used by us schools for ages yet to come because our computers aren't spec enough for VISTA's needs. But as i'm looking to shift into industry to get some proper pay, (instead of being paid as much as admin) I dont no if VISTA will be a valuable thing to have in it's early stages. Any thought's anyone? JayR

Do you not build your own PC's, we can get an average spec AMD pc for £200 and the only upgradeing weve needed to do is increase the RAM. The cost of replacing parts isn't very much the odd graphics card here NIC card there but overall its a cheap way of doing things. Plus AMD socket A type are the most common budget processor socket type and we've been able to replace Athlons with Semprons of the same socket. JayR

I reckons it would be a better idea if the monitor offered the main support for the unit the hardware section could lift up and offer more possible space for workbooks etc. Possibly even wall mounted those this would not always be practicle (eg no walls). It looks now like the monitor folds onto the top of the computer, so if it was the other way around it would save nore space...I think. But hey im blonde JayR

I have found a kind of resolution, I created an account and told them it would be more worthwhile for them to download the videos and have them available any time to other staff on a network drive. They bought it off course because I used long words like "streaming" and "settings" and when their eyes started to glaze over I new I had won. Thanks for your help. JayR

we are currently running ISA server 2000, is this to old? I forgot to mention that the streaming works as an administrtor, but then things normally do. JayR

No i was not aware it wa adware! we use Netsupport to monitor them but can never catch the little buggers, do you no what site it runs off or is it a www spread thingy? JayR

Internet explorer version 6 toolbars are beggining to get my goat. We run ECDL courses at my school and toolbars are blocking the website required for the students to logon to the site. The toolbars mainly in question are the msn toolbars, the msn desktop search bar, starware bar. Google is okay except clashes with others. Is there a group policy control element that can enable me to stop these types of downloads. Any help would be greatly appreciated, JayR

Hello it my first time :oops: Basically I am having problem streaming with media player from teacher.tv as a user on our school network. We use an ISA server and firewall to manage our internet connections over the network. I have tried configuring media player streaming settings to our isa server and port number but have had no look. So if anyone could offer me some advice I would be very gratefull, and so will the teachers who have been repetetively asking with polite smiles if i've fixed the problem, and how they don't no why it doesn't work at school because it works at home.
