  4. Big fan of Unifi here - We use it at all three of the schools within our trust - I've also previously used one model of EdgeSwitch, but found Unifi to be much easier to deploy and manage. At our secondary, we've got US-48-G1 and US-48-500W in most of our cabs, and use two US-16-XG for our core switches. Everything is then managed from a UDM-Pro, which also acts as our controller/firewall/gateway. The new Gen 2 (Pro) switches have L3 capabilities - a friend/former co-worker has just purchased a couple, so I'm keen to see how he gets on with the new features.
  5. Sounds like you'll need a cabinet in the building either way - you could connect this via SFP/Fibre to your server room and then run cable to points around the external classroom as required. Provided you use a managed switch in the new cab, I don't see any issue with using VLANs in the new building. Not sure where you are, but I know a good cable installer if you wanted to drop me a PM?
  6. Our secondary purchased a good number of Chromebooks from LGFL (which have finally reached us after a long voyage!). We're planning to subsidise costs on these and give one to each FSM student - Any spare devices will be offered to parents at near cost. After this, we can collect the DFE devices back in and redistribute to those who need them - If we have enough left over, there were talks of using some of them them to replace aging RM Ones running CloudReady, though I'm not sure how staff would react to 11" screens...

  10. Hey! Bit of a quick one - Is it possible to schedule a GPO to apply from a specific point? I can't find anything online about this, so I presume that it isn't possible, but maybe someone here knows how to work some magic! The query relates to changing proxy settings if anyone is wondering. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
