  1. It's worth checking. Make sure to buy unlocked phones (you need one phone to start the trial) With locked phones you need to buy a UniFi number for each handset. With unlock phones you can used them just with extension, but they cost a little bit more (one off cost). Once the trial is configured UniFi will set you up with 2 trial numbers for a month. As mentioned before porting is coming soon in UK.
  2. You are locked with their phones and need to use their Dream Machine. Their phones are next level compared to what other phones we check before ordering them. The speaker quality is really good especially on the large phone. The screen is responsive, good quality and easy to use. The handset comes with intercom and video call features and if you are using UniFi CCTV you can view their CCTV cams on the phone. The system is super easy to configure and manage which was the main reason we decided to go with this company - it's very similar to Google Voice but you don't need to buy a licence for all the handsets as they
  3. We are upgrading all our phone systems to UniFi Talk. It's in early access in the UK and you can't port the number yet but this will be sorted soon. Other than this the system is amazing. You only pay £7.99 per month for one line and there is no limit on concurrent calls going out from the line. Also you don't need to pay support as this is UniFi so the system is super easy.
  4. This sophisticated Google search result came up with some really good real-world suggestions like: lock your computer, use suitable passwords, report phishing emails, Etc Etc. Thanks Greg
  5. Thanks for your reply. It's interesting to see that this is not affecting everyone. I've already contacted their support three times. 2/3 tickets were parked saying that they are aware of the issue and they are working on a solution. Yesterday Securly told me that they are working on a new extension: "Below is a beta version of an extension we are testing to resolve some other issues. I would recommend rolling it out to a single device and see if the problem persists before rolling it out to all devices. The extension ID is knneimmpeamikmjijmnhjmmobddleohjThe Custom URL https://extensions.securly.com/extensions.xml " I've tried it and YouTube was a bit better, but Gmail is just unusable. It's very weird as it's only the window where you type in email content is lagging. Everything else like searching / navigating Gmail works.

    Temp Sensors

We are using Unifi Sensors. They cost £50 but you need UniFi APs that support Bluetooth 5.0, BLE https://eu.store.ui.com/eu/en/products/up-sense Motion sensor (5 m/16 ft max. range) Magnetic entry sensor for door or window open/close Accelerometer for garage door open/close Temperature sensor Humidity sensor Ambient light sensor Alarm sound sensor Water sensor for detecting leaks and floods (requires water sensor adapter accessory, only available in 3-pack at general release)
  7. We are thinking to get PaperCut Hive soon. How / what's so annoying with activation on each user device ?
  8. We had a few of them for testing. They are ok but not very stable. People ended up connecting HDMI / USB-C cable instead
  9. We are using Securly at our schools and YouTube performance is very slow. When the YouTube video is loading Securly Chrome addon is using 100% CPU, this goes for about 1 min and then the video loads. We also noticed that typing emails in Gmail lags to the point where you can write a sentence and it takes 30s for it to appear. The Gmail issue only happens on Chromebooks and Windows devices with Chrome browser are not affected. Uninstalling Securly Chrome addon solves both issues but it's not really a solution. I just want to check if other schools are also affected and if there is a workaround for this ?
  10. That's why they are looking for a new technician
  11. +1 for this suggestion. Simple to use and It can be extended in the future if needed.
  12. Thanks for this. We are on SM Legacy. I guess that's good bye Meraki. We will use Chrome Remote Support for remote support and Google Admin for spec and laptops configuration details.
  13. I didn't know that Cisco Meraki are canceling the free MDM. Can you send a link for this please.
  14. In 3 months time we will see this headline on the Microsoft Office website Corinium Education Trust moves from Bromcom to Office 365 Excel. The headteachers says "I am very grateful to the Office 365 support team. I really appreciate the high level of support they have provided for our schools, particularly given the yet another ambitious migration timeline. ‘With Bromcom we are on our knees’ and ‘It is like death by a thousand cuts’ "Moving to Excell has been a breath of fresh air."
  15. This is a bit like saying: I've got a Fiat car and Fiat cars are the best. I've done thousands of miles in the car and the car performs very well. The car struggles a bit on a motorway when I go above 60 miles but this is a minor issue and only happens when I drive fast. Both Arbor and Bromcom systems are good and it's up to the school / trust to do their homework in advance before migrating away from SIMS. In this case Corinium Education Trust clearly didn't do their homework and they didn't plan the new integration either as they rushed the new system to meet the 31st August deadline. What's sad is that Bromcom uses this as a marketing material on their website and promotes this on this forum, instead of talking to the schools with the performance issues. I mean they got nothing else better to promote ?
  16. Judging on the amount of post on this forum about Bromcom poor performance, the multi-academy trust just made another bad choice.
  17. LOL - 10 min, really ? With this logic you can add: 5 min to connect a power cable 5 min to open laptop lid 10 min to type in username 10 min to type in password 5 min to click Start button and the lesson is over. No point opening the laptop in a first place.
  18. I thought that from 1st September DSL should know all the e-safety answers since they are responsible for ordering the system.
  19. We just signed up for Securly. What's the question ?
  20. Thanks for this. The handsets arrived sooner than suspected and your firmware suggestion saved me hours of research. The phone is just upgrading to OBi 6.4.5 firmware. It's a shame that there is no option to just call another handset in the school. This would save our schools a lot of money.
  21. We are trialing Google Voice system in one of our school. So far I really like the simplicity of the system, how easy it is to add users, configure auto-attendants and ring groups. I've got two question about the system: Once Poly handsets are configured, can you call them by extension number or phone ID without a need to assign a Google Voice user license to the handset. This is so the school can save money by not assigning licenses to handsets located in each classroom. We would still like to be able reception to call the handset internally by extension and the handsets in the classroom don't need to call external numbers. On the Poly Google Voice page handsets are described as VVX 350 Obi Edition and on the same website, but on product page handsets are just called VVX 350. Are those the same devices ? Or the VVX 350 Obi Edition is different than VVX 350. Handsets are quite cheap so we ordered two Polycom VVX 350 handsets from Amazon to test the devices with Google Voice system and they will arrive next week.
  22. Just a quick suggestion, instead of configuring load balancing you can try to disconnect half of the cameras on the switch for one hour(disable power to them) to see if this sorts out the performance. If it does - I would ask Axis support on some guidance how to configure load balancing.
  23. We had around 120 cameras and now reduced them to around 100 hoping that this will improve the performance. Playback buffers for us and also some of the cameras are skipping frames. The system was working fine for years, so it's probably one of the updates caused the problem. When we emailed Axis they said that the server is designed to support around 60 CCTV units - which is fair, but everything was working fine previously. They also said that motion detection creates a lot of pressure on the server and they recommend to record continuously, but this didn't change anything, server load is at max 15% with or without motion. We tried changing video stream quality, toggle record to continuous / motion, factory reset all CCTV cameras, maintain database and update the app - no luck. I would love to know the solution for this, but I don't want to spend weeks with Axis support, so we ended up slowly replacing old Axis Cameras with UniFi ones hoping that the system will work fine with less load.
  24. Just say that nearby school moved to another MIS and it's amazing. I'm sure that SLT will copy the idea in no time.
