In this post, I'm going to explain to you about one more annoying issue in Windows, the one that eats up all disk resource. So, what is high disk usage issue? Basically, this issue is quite similar to the one that caused high CPU usage I mentioned above. But in this time, it takes up all disk resource. It means your hard drive, normally the system drive C:\, is overload with reading and writing commands. As a result, all other programs that you want to run can't be worked properly as there is no resource left. Why does this issue happen on your Windows 10 computer? The most common cause of this high disk usage issue is that something goes wrong with a program or Windows feature, especially Windows Update. According to some reports from users, after checking for updates and download available updates, the high disk usage issue came up. That said, this issue could be occurred because of corrupted Windows updates. Normally, your computer will check for new updates, then download and store them in a temporary folder called SoftwareDistribution. After that, Windows will use download packages from this folder to install new updates to your Windows PC. But in some cases, these downloaded packages are corrupted and lead to high disk usage issue. To get rid of this problem, you need to delete the SoftwareDistribution folder, which is located at C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution Subsequently, reboot your Windows 10 PC and check for updates again. This move will force Windows to check for new updates and redownload all available packages to install those updates. In other cases that this issue doesn't cause by Windows Update, you should check again the program that is using your disk. In some cases, corrupted system files also can create this type of errors. To get it fixed, you should boot into Windows 10 Safe Mode and run the System File Checker to detect corrupted files and repair them. By doing so, all system corrupted files will be found and repaired, which will help you get rid of 100% high disk usage issue in Windows 10. Besides, you should also take a look at your antivirus software, especially Windows Defender. Those programs are the ones that often use your disk and cause high CPU and disk usage issues, like Antimalware Service Executable process.

Why there are so many svchost.exe processes in Task Manager? Why do they run in Windows? Firstly, you need to know about the structure of Windows operating system (OS). Most of the functions in Windows OS are written and stored in library files, which have the .dll extension. Nevertheless, these files aren't executable files like .exe files so they can't run themselves. Hence, Microsoft has developed a bridge executable file, called svchost.exe. It also is known as a host that helps to run Windows functions that will be used by Windows features, or other third-party applications. But why there are many svchost.exe processes in Task Manager? What's the purpose of running more than one of it? Pretending that Microsoft combines everything into one svchost.exe and only need one to handle all functions. Then you may see that it will consume more computer resources than divides into multiple processes. The point is that Windows features and its programs don't use all functions at all time. So wasting resources for unused functions isn't an efficient way. Moreover, dividing into multiple processes will help Microsoft handles those functions better. It also contributes to avoiding shutdown suddenly when an issue occurs. For example, if there was a problem with one svchost.exe, all other svchost.exe processes will still work well and at good status. Hence, all Windows features and its apps that use other svchost.exe processes won't be affected. Compared to the solution that with only one svchost.exe process, when it corrupts, all functions will be corrupted and stopped. Therefore, none of features and apps work. So, that's the benefit of dividing functions into groups and assign for multiple svchost.exe processes. Why svchost.exe suddenly uses a lot of CPU resource of computer? By default, and in most cases, svchost.exe only uses less than 5% of CPU resource. Unfortunately, some abnormal situations can make these host processes eat your CPU resource like drinking water. (I mean it uses a lot of CPU resource). Therefore, it leads to high CPU resource usage on your computer, especially coming from svchost.exe (netsvcs) or (wuauserv). They are two major groups of functions that stand behind these host processes. When you face this type of errors, the first step you need to take is to determine which group are the svchost.exe in, netsvcs or wuauserv. From the result, you can quickly eliminate other reasons out of the suspect list. After that, use Task Manager to determine the Windows services or programs that were using it*. *It at here is mean the svchost.exe that is hogging your CPU resource. Based on the result you found, you can easily resolve the issue with necessary steps, such as stop Windows services, disable it, or reinstall programs.

I don't join Insider Program, as well as install latest updates immediately unless it's a critical patch for one or some serious issue(s). Most of new features and updates in Insider Program are unstable.

I don't use Windows 10 on a touchscreen tablet or computer so there's no issue like you. On desktop (without touchscreen), my Start Menu is working fine without any issues.
