  1. Hi all, We are in the process of setting up a new school that have Prometheans. I have created an SCCM deployment that installs ActivInspire and the ActivDriver. I can't seem to suppress the reboot of ActivDriver when used with SCCM. However, if I just run the batch file from my desktop it does not need a reboot and the command works. Anyone have any useful advice for this? basic command is activdriver.msi /qn /norestart but it doesn't seem to help. Checked activdriver /? for the guide but doesn't seem to be anything else in there I can try. Anyone had any joy with silently pushing this out?
  2. Hi, On some boards (about half a dozen of them) we seem to have lost the touch functionality. This isn't just when using with a PC or the ACG/OPS. If we click the button to choose the source, we can't choose, for example HDMI options. These are the V5 panels. I am going to ask someone to go through the firmware update with a connected PC to see if this helps. If it does not, what else could it be? All cables are fine, tried power cycling. Thanks Fraser
  3. Hi, We are looking to resolve a similar issue with Google Meet. We have these ports set up on local Firewalls in Windows 10. But we encounter the same issue as described. We use Glow, sign into Google Classroom, can create a Google Meet meeting. But if anyone tries to join, no camera or audio and then disconnects after 30 seconds or so. Either of you using Smoothwall, Proxies etc that you had to add anything to? We have done all the suggested on Googles Meet network suggestions. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  4. Hi, Probably not an issue for you just now, with schools being closed. But there are Group Policies for Chrome that you may have set so that Chrome can't use your mic or camera (separate Group Policies). You can add the URL for Meet into these and enable them. May be worth trying.
  5. Hi Pam, Thanks so much for your prompt reply. I have a few more general questions if you don't mind? I know we can now update the Firmware of the boards. However, when I go to do this it tells me an update is available but I have no option to carry out the update, either during the check or when I go to the Manage section I don't have the Firmware Update option. We are running a mix of OPS and Acon1-G. Also, is there a way to remove Opera? I have it in my head that its there to stay but we need to hide it? Can I choose whats on the main screen circle with Radix (by that I mean the circle that has the apps such as Opera, Promethean Store etc) Can I send some sort of test packet to check connectivity (similar principle to ping command on windows). Thanks
  6. Hi, Is it possible to change the time on the Promethean boards with RADIX? We had to Factory reset a bunch of them yesterday and they have the wrong time on them. We would prefer to do it with RADIX for various reasons. I'm assuming they are on the wrong time zone. Thanks Fraser

    MAC Hardening

Hi all, We have recently started to deploy Macs into one of our schools. Unfortunately we are new to using these devices and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction on what you all see as best practice for locking them down in a similar way we can do with Windows through Group Policy and the likes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Fraser
  8. I'm wondering if this is similar to an issue I am facing. We have to apply the permissions needed and this is easy enough. However, there seems to be some sort of folder duplication going on. If I run as admin, everything is fine. If I use a test pupil account we have problems. Within ProgramData\GameMaker-Studio a unique folder is created per user. But an exact copy of this is also created at the top level of ProgramData. Very annoying. I am wondering if this is what is causing the software not to work properly. As an example, under admin I can see demo games, under standard user this demo does not load. If you are still in the same role as in 2016 Randle could we have a chat over email?
  9. To follow up on this post. With the support of Radix and Promethean we now have the Radix MDM working as it should be. Both Radix and Promethean have been very helpful during this process.
  10. Hi, We had considered this but we want to push this out to multiple sites and it wouldn't be feasible to do it this way. Especially if they then decide they want sound back again. Thanks though.
  11. Hi, I was wondering if you ever found a solution for this one Steve, and if you did, can you remember it all these years later?
  12. Hi, Does anyone have any idea if it is possible to disable inbuilt PC speakers but keep the audio jack enabled? We have a request from one of our libraries to do this, we would prefer to do this by policy, regedit or script. Thanks in advance. Fraser
  13. Hi everyone, Sorry for hijacking this post, but I was hoping someone could be off some assistance. We are looking at a number of MDMs to help manage 72 new Promethean V5 panels. Has anyone managed to get an MDM such as Radix working? We are having some problems, could be smoothwall, could be firewall. But I'd like to chat to anyone with experience with these issues. The two we are looking at are Airwatch and Radix Viso. Radix Viso being the preferred one. Cheers
  14. Hi Markiof, Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately the information provided is quite vague as it's a fact sheet from Airwatch. We were hoping to get more specific information elated to any testing that had been done with Promethean and Airwatch so that we would know about any limitations Airwatch has controlling a non-standard Android distro. As an example, we tried to remove Opera but this didn't get removed even thoguh the device had picked up the correct settings and it was all synced up with Airwatch MDM. Thanks Fraser
  15. Hi, After a disastrous time of trying to get Radix to work with Prometheans (could enroll the devices but no commands would send over our network) we have decided to switch to Airwatch. Is there any documentation you can provide on possible limitations with using Airwatch over Radix? Are there any fact sheets stating what sort of things can be set with Airwatch? As an example, enrolled the Promethean and tried to remove an app but we were unable to. But we could push down wifi settings. Thanks Fraser
  16. Hi, Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately we are having to move away from Radix as we were not able to get this working and Radix provided absolutely no help in resolving the problem. We have started to look into Airwatch (reason I asked about the upgrade to Marshmallow in the other post). Thanks again. Fraser
  17. Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. Do we have a rough release date for the update to the ACON1-G? Thanks Fraser
  18. Hi Phillyrovers, With the above mentioned AD join, does the 75" come with the OPS-G? If it does, can you post a link for guidance on this? Thanks Fraser
  19. Hi, Is there an upgrade path for the ACON1-G to Androind version 6 (Marshmallow). I found some articles to say that we should only update with versions released by Promethean and the ACON1-G seems to be stuck on 5.1. The OPS-G however looks like it can get Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Lastly do the OPS-Gs come with Marshmallow as standard? Thanks
  20. Hi, I am sure I read in one of the Promethean articles that when using ActivCast it is not possible to get sound, only video. Unfortunately I am unable to find the article to check. Can someone confirm if this is correct? And if it is, is there an alternative solution, such as the Promethean soundbar or anything like that? Thanks Fraser
  21. Hi, Are there any settings I can change that stop the V5 from going to sleep. Had some users report that after a while of non-use (at least in terms of interactive touch from the teacher) the board will come up with 'No Signal'. I believe this is when it is using the HDMI connection from the Win10 PC. Thanks Fraser
  22. Any local councils (or similar) out there using RADIX Viso on their prometheans? If you are, I am looking to pick your brain, so please get in touch.
  23. Hi Phillyrover, Thanks for the suggestion, I finally got around to trying it and unfortunately could not get this to work. Which of the .profile files holds the proxy information? What can I use to open such a file? Is there likely to be changes made in the future as to how the proxy settings are handled?
  24. Hi sadams1980, I believe my colleague has set up our SCCM deployment for the new version of Makerbot. I will install this on my laptop tomorrow to see how it acts and then get back to you.
  25. Hi, In the process of setting up a new HS, kitted out with about 70 V5 boards. Not had a huge amount of time to properly play about with settings and to work out the best set up due to time constraints. So I have a few questions, if you all don't mind. First being, for the teachers you support, what is their preferred setup for the board with Windows (we have switched to Windows 10 for this new build, and it's our first deployment of this OS across the council). Second is, and we have already done this for every PC/V5 panel but to make touch functionality work we had to switch every PC on, then the board attached and then go into PC Tablet settings so that the PC knew which screen had touch functionality. This appears to need user input in the form of touching the V5 panel so Windows knows which is which. Would there have been an easier way to set these up or will it always require us to do this? Lastly, I'd have thought that when using the promethean board when you touch the screen in an area requiring text a keyboard would open up automatically? Is there a way to make this happen? I know you can switch on a keyboard option on the ActivInspire software, but the keyboard is quite small on the screen and the Windows one is a bit better for size at least. But say they are on a web browser and press on the screen to type in a new URL no keyboard will pop up. Any advice for this? Apologies for the very long post. If you ahve experience with any of the above I would be grateful for any responses. Thanks
