Texthelp Read and Write Gold conflicting with Impero
Mic_Impero replied to KevinB's topic in Educational Software
Hi KevinB, I'm glad we're already helping you to get to the bottom of this, but having seen your thread and become of aware of problem, I'd like to get a little more involved to see if I can assist in removing any barriers to resolution. I have a pet hate of customers being stuck in the middle of two software / service providers who are doing their best independently but aren't getting to the solution. I've downloaded a trial of Read and Write so that we can try to replicate this here, and I've made initial contact with Texthelp to coordinate some testing and see if we can get to a solution, or at least better understand the problem. Please could you PM me your contact details so that i can find your specific case here, and keep both you and the case notes up to date; then when we've got some more info we can post back here in case it helps others. If anyone else has a silver bullet in the mean time please feel free to share! Thanks Mic @ Impero -
Kerboodle Log-in on Chrome GPO issue
Mic_Impero replied to Columbo911's topic in Windows Server 2012
Hi all, A little while back, we changed the way we interrogate SSL, as we previously experienced some scenarios as you're describing. Since we've changed the way we work with this, we've not had any more reports. Please ensure you're on the latest version of Impero for the correct BHO, and have downloaded the latest Chrome extension (1.1.6) if using Chrome. If any of you need further information on this please feel free to send me a PM and i'll get the details over to you. Mic @ Impero -
[1703, cu] Impero + GPO setting, request for someone else to test
Mic_Impero replied to mrbios's topic in Windows 10
Hi guys, Johanna has done some testing around this and can confirm that's the issue and the fix. It's gone to the development team here, but we've also noticed that it's causing people with RDP sessions and that's with MS, so it may need an MS change to resolve the issue. Your cases are still open and logged with dev, so when a fix does go into the software, or MS have an update, we'll inform you through the usual channels. Mic @ Impero -

Labtech vs Continiuum vs Comodo
Mic_Impero replied to DavePa's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Hi @DavePa , I think Labtech and SCCM are really trying to tackle a different thing to Impero, hence the product differences. I'd be happy to help with Impero in a corporate environment if that's a road you wish to go down, but if you're looking for parity in terms of functionality, you may be able to keep Labtech - I think it's ConnectWise now, and it can be purchased by corporate IT departments as well as MSPs. Hi all, Thanks for being helpful as usual @RichCowell - there's absolutely no substitute for speaking to other schools but if we can be useful please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. We've seen a lot of implementations and can advise on best practice and more importantly how to make it fit and work in your setting with your policies. Also happy to help with any working groups you'd like to set up, just drop me a PM and i'll send you back my details. Mic @ Impero

Impero Vs Netsupport
Mic_Impero replied to richbrowncardiff's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Hi @DrPopkorne I'm sorry to hear you had a recurring issue and we didn't fix it permanently in first line. We always welcome feedback, and I'd be happy to share with you privately some of the methods we use to gather feedback from customers (which we'll be working on some more over the summer), how we priorities these, and the processes and communication behind it, along with some of the methods we use internally to ensure we are abreast of current issues and customer experience; can confirm there's a lot of coffee involved! As part of our continuous improvement, I'm considering the possibility of having our most experienced users and our superusers, if you like, coming straight into the second line team. As things stand, 98% of cases are resolved at 1st line, and in under 15 minutes (call based), so there's definitely a rationale in having the tiered system, but I can appreciate if you've been a user for say 5 years and you know the software well, more often than not those 2% of cases needing escalation are probably yours, and from a small % of customer base. Again, happy to discuss directly and welcome any feedback. I can't post back my contact details, as it's against the rules, but we do have a direct support forum, or you're welcome to PM me to make initial contact. Best wishes Mic Sanderson Head of Support -
Kahoot not working when signed into Chrome
Mic_Impero replied to steven_layton_sl's topic in Educational Software
Good afternoon all, We've changed the way our extension works which is likely to impact this, if it is caused by the extension; 1.1.5 is now available. Please contact support for the Chrome store ID or search for it (looking in the properties for version number). Thanks Mic -
@clockend25 Understood, I'm genuinely sorry we've reached that position but wish you all the best with finding the most appropriate solution for your establishment. I'll speak with the team tomorrow and ensure that there isn't anything set up to come to you and then confirm this in writing by email. I will be the only person to contact you moving forward, and you're welcome to contact me back directly should you need any further assistance. Mic

I think it depends on the venue and experience of the band. The more experienced the band the more they'll happily do whatever FOH tell them because for them it's not their experience that night that matters, it's what happens in the FOH mix and how they sound to the crowd. A good sound engineer can ruin or make a bands night (come to think of it so can a bad one), so making their lives difficult by not cooperating is a bad idea. I think it's perfectly reasonable for them to have their own cabs and stage presence, but on smaller stages you might just need them to turn it down and think about how you position them and mic them. If you're able to create a separate monitor mix for the vocalist to the others by using multiple monitors and multiple returns, or even a separate desk, that's probably the way to go. The other thing i've seen (and suffered from myself) is drowning the PA with just too much - if there's too much noise on stage and you're drowning out the vocals in the PA because you're putting everything through the PA, put less through the PA. In terms of the original question, you'll want different DI boxes for different scenarios depending on the kit. Basic rule is for anything with power (battery, mains, or phantom), you'll want a passive box, anything without power (magnetic pickup only, for example), you'll want an active (powered) DI box. Bear in mind that if something starts as passive and so requires an active DI, but is going through a powered pedal then it will be active as the output from the pedal and so require a passive DI. You can work with just one or the other but the reasons you should be careful are explained well in these videos: Using a few new DIs for a charity event on the side of a 44ft curtain sider in Rotherham in a few weeks, i'll let you know what they are and how they got on- i expect the multiple bands playing may not bring their own backline so this may be exactly the scenario you want comparison for. What do you play? I'd stick with own cab and go for DI out to FOH desk, Thru into your own cab and ask for a return on the multicore for your own monitor, or get some wireless in ears and run through that back out of the monitor mix. That way if the FOH engineer (or you) aren't happy with the sound straight from the DI the cab can still be micd and mixed.
-
What is it you're using it for? I've tried tried this approach but if unhappy with the DI on its own go with the DI and micing the cabinet to use a mix.

Good afternoon all, I'd like to address a few concerns listed above but am conscious of forum rules etc too. We are indeed a market leader, and welcome competition in the market place, it keeps us on our toes and is healthy for everyone. We remain competitive within the space and firmly believe based on feedback from our customers that a consolidated approach using our software provides excellent value for money when schools enjoy the full suite of functionality and this ensures great return on investment. I work very closely with the renewals and account management team and would like to reassure people that the experience @clockend25 has described is the exception and should not be the expected experience. May I apologise for that and invite you to contact me directly with information so I can follow up internally, and I'll look after you here forward. Likewise, anyone with a concern of any nature is welcome to contact me directly (by PM and i'll return my details as I'm not allowed to publish them here), and I'll be happy to speak with you. Hi all, There are a couple of issues causing this. The majority of which are fixed in 6.0.79 and the remainder of which are resolved in 6.0.81 (now available). Please don't exclude injections where it can be avoided or without checking with us as you may disable functionality relating to e-safety (if we can't inject that application we can't monitor it for certain capture types). Mic @ Impero

Good morning, Please could you PM me your details and we'll get back to you this morning on this one. I does seem to have resolve the issue here in continued testing (where I could replicate it before I now cannot) and with other customers who've had the issue and upgraded. I think the first thing for us to do is probably to check the versioning of the DLLs of a machine that's still experiencing the problem, and just ensure the upgrade has gone out to that machine properly. Once we know it's definitely got the right version on we can pull back the logs and do some further investigation. Thanks Mic @ Impero

Smoothwall firewall rule for Impero
Mic_Impero replied to steven_layton_sl's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Hi Steven, Please could you let me know if you're using Ruckus for wifi (or otherwise what it is), and what version of Chrome OS you're running on the ones which won't connect (and whether it's the same as the ones which do connect)? Thanks Mic -
Smoothwall firewall rule for Impero
Mic_Impero replied to steven_layton_sl's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Hi Steven, Looks like a couple of things going on here. Chromebooks will only connect to the server when the user is logged on as the application and extension run in the browser (the only way to run on a Chrome OS device). If the browser is open and the Chromebook is being used but you're then seeing a black thumbnail it may be because the ports are not available between the console and the chromebook; the connection runs to the server, but the thumbnail runs directly from the chromebook to the console so you may need more ports opening across your vlans. I'll email you over a diagram of the traffic flow and port numbers you need. Mic -
Smoothwall firewall rule for Impero
Mic_Impero replied to steven_layton_sl's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Hi Steven, Do the Chromebooks connect but the thumbnails aren't visible, or do they not connect at all? Mic @ Impero -
Hi all, Please could each of you ensure there's a case raised for you quoting EP-4347 just so we can tie these together and help to investigate. I'm still unsure as to whether Impero is the cause but the more information we can gather the quicker we'll get the answers. If you'd rather PM me your details and have someone call back that's absolutely fine too. Thanks Mic
-
Please could a couple of you also confirm whether you're seeing this on 32 / 64bit OS or both? Thanks Mic

There are changes to DPI scaling in 1703 too, I wonder if that's related and why some people are seeing fixes in font updates? High-DPI Scaling Improvements in the Windows 10

Thanks for the extra info. We'll get onto testing this on some physical machines next week and under some load, log on / off, different types of profiles etc.

Hi all, In case it helps, I've just created a VM for 1703, installed 6045 and have been unable to replicate the problem. I've then performed all windows updates and tested, then upgraded to 6.0.79 and tested, still unable to replicate this. I then removed Impero, ran a sysprep and started again, same results. @sccmlouis I'd be interested to know the differences between our builds, please could you PM me your details so I can be in touch on Monday? Thanks Mic @ Impero
