  1. Or purchase Access Point/Router that has variable power output and set it to the lowest setting. With it being on your portable trolly in the classroom you should not have reception problems. Good luck, when people are convinced of the "radiation" thing they have a tendency to not think rationally.
  2. Try assigning a bogus(an address not in your normal IP range) ip address that is associated to that mac address via DHCP. This should prevent them from connecting to the interent and local LAN, thus seeking your help! -Steve
  3. I, like you thought this would be a simple project. Not all USB pen drives are bootable, HP and Kingston work( I have DOS on both of them). I had to download and install 2 programs from HP's website. They are cp006049.exe and SP27608.exe. You should also do a search on the internet for directions on making a USB drive bootable. I do not have those directions here at work. I will try to remeber to post them tonight or tommorow. Most of the directions on the internet do not work, but there are some that do. Keep posting your progress and I will try to help. Steve
  4. Hello, I am looking to upgrade some of our printers. I was wondering if anybody is using the HP P4015n series? How are they holding up, most common problems etc... Anyone using them on a Novell Network with the built in network option? I am not finding many reviews or ratings on the web. Thanks Much! Steve
  5. I use IVC, it converts just about everything you could want. They have a USB Key version, and a full installer version. Best of all it's FREE. Download - IVCSOFT

Still using version 5.2 from fresh install on new servers installed in 2002. It has been rock solid. Hoping for new servers 2009. Not sure what version to install when this happens.
  7. I have very very little experience using linux. I installed Edubuntu and followed the directions in this wiki for installing squid. It was a piece of cake. There are directions for using Dansguarding filter also, but I chose not to install that application. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EdubuntuProxy Good luck with your decision. -Steve
