Hey guys ive had a similar issue i have a Dell Inspiron 1721 about a year old now. i left it on doing some scans for a hour or so and came back to a blue screen, not good but not uncommon or anything but it said IQNL_IS_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL ive never seen this befor but it has being described as a hardware problem so i rebooted the system and it then rebooted into startup repair, it did its thing and i sent the error report, and went for a restart. it looked to boot fine and then went to the vista loading screen and then back into startup, i went through again and then realised that all the system restore points have gone. we have tried diferent OS systems that boot from a CD to locate the Harddrive and get some realy important files off the HD, we have tried vista,linux,xp and mac os and we cannot find either of the Hardrives to mount or search in the end i could only get some realy small files off using the system registry in the startup repair we have come to the conclusion that all the boot files have being lost therfor is going into statup repair. i have two 160gb hd drives that are RAID'ed so i cannot get into them too put them into another computer, oh and their both sata drives. if anyone can help it would be much apreciated.

well we have teachers machines at the school, and we decided to use a Norton ghost program to image all the teachers new school laptops and stand alone machines when they were first built and ready to be given to them with all there software and drivers working. we would then fix any of the critical problems by restoring the machine from a ghost image burnt to a disk. however the Norton ghost program also has other techy related software on it, we have to be able to have Norton ghost v 8.0 on the usb pen to boot after the bios, and then we can add a ISO of the disk (Or disks) and boot it strait from the usb pen. this means we do not have to go through sub menus and have stock piles of CD's and DVD's to go through and store and then take and watch over until the job is finished which takes around 1h 30mins. hope this help those who were wondering why we needed to do this thanks Guinness

if you type "CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2" (Without quotations) into the run option on the start button you will be able to set up the laptop to automatic log on to the administrator login! it means u do not have to worry about passwords, and you can still use the lock function as well. this process will also enable you to change the password there 2. here's the link if you need any more advice! it says windows xp but has worked on my vista laptop as well Configure Windows XP to Automatically Login cheers Guinness_1864

i have a problem! one of our stand alone machines takes forever to get past the bios screen and then says "primary hard disk failed" i have recently replaced the hard drive with a new 80gb but i was wondering if there is any way to either repair the 40gb drive or to retrieve the data on it? cheers Guinness
