I received my study materials today and when I look at the course on my Student Home page it says the TM128 website will be available from the 20th September, so not long now.

I am in Dartford which is North Kent. I would assume my nearest regional centre will be in London somewhere but I'm not sure

I have signed up to this course. The study materials are being posted out soon and the course starts in October

Hi Bio I have had a look at these 2 Here and Here I think these maybe more in the schools price range. I have had a search to see if I can find out what mini-gbic they support but have not found anything. Do you know if they only use 3com only or could I use anything? Thanks
-
@DMcCoy Our current Fibre converters are LX so I wanted to replace like for like

Thanks for al the advice so far. We don't use vlans but may do in the future. We currently have 3com switches with CISCO gbic converters. We will be connecting to 12 other switches via fibre but want room to expand. I have just had a look at the HP mini-gbic 1000base-LX and they are between £300 - £500 which is alot more that the one I was looking at. I did look at the 5000 series but the modules are £2,000 compared to the £700 for the 4000 series. I may have to look at other options to keep the cost down but I think modula switches are the way to go.

Our current core switch is dead/dying I am looking at getting a new HP Procurve modula switch to replace it. I am looking at getting the 4208vl switch, 4 J9033A modules and these mini gbics MGBLX1. Is anyone currently using this switch? Is there are good or bad points I need to look out for? Is there anything I can look at for a comparison? If there is anyone that has got one and wouldn't mind me having a look in the Bexleyheath, Dartford area that would be brilliant. Thanks in advance

The school has just purchased a new piece of software called Infonic Document Manager that uses SQL 2005. I have setup a scheduled task using ntbackup to do a full backup of the server. I need to stop the SQL from running when the backup is running so that it backs up the mdf and ldf files. I have created a batch file to stop the SQL and another one to start it again. I don't know how to combine the 3 so I have a scheduled task that runs the batch file to stop the SQL does a full backup then as soon as its finished it runs the batch file to start the SQL again. any advice would be welcome Thanks

CC4 - Workstation build: Offline Build Key
arthur231283 replied to bertster's topic in Network and Classroom Management
This happens if the computers NIC drivers are not on the build disk. To add them: Open the RMMC, expand software, right-click Drivers and select Import drivers. Then add the correct driver Now expand Computers, expand Build, select Build disks then right-click on the build disk you are using and select properties. In the Additional Drivers section click Add Drivers and add your driver. You will now need to right-click on the build disk and Generate Build disk image. Re-create your build disk and try again -
My wife works at an all MAC school. They still have to use windows because their MIS only works on it so they have VMware setup on the macs for staff to access it.

After splattthecats suggestion I checked that a default printer had been set and it had. The computer had more than one printer applied to it so I right clicked and set a different printer as default, I then set the original printer back to default. I opened FMS and it worked. So FMS is not accepting the default printer until it is set manually

I am running 32bit Windows 7 Enterprise. If FMS is 16bit is there a way I can run the programme in a compatibility mode so it will run? I will have another go and post any updates if I make progress
-
I have been trying to get FMS to install on Windows 7 but keep getting the following error: runtime error 217 at 00025AFE I have done a search of the capita support site but could not find anything. Has anyone successful got this to work? Does anyone know if it is possible to get this to work? Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I can get the software to work but it only works after I manually authenticate with the share. I have to open the share input the username and password for the localadmin account on the impact server then I can login. Is there a way of automatically authenticating with the share so I wont have to get the user to do it. Thanks

Does any one have any instructions on how to install Cunningham's IMPACT cashless catering software on a workstation? Every time it has been installed before the bursar has called the Cunningham's helpdesk and they have used logmein123 to remotely install it. Which is fine but if I need to quickly install it on more workstations or re-install it I don't want to have to call them every time. Thanks in advance
