You need to run it like this for 'Program files' msiexec /i "SecureClientInstaller.msi" CMDLINE=/DEFAULT_INSTALL_DIR="C:\PROGRA~1\Surpass" /qn However it probably will break at this point because the software wants everyone to be able to update it. I think we ill have to deploy to the default path which I really didn't want to do!

I hadn't considered that but will look into it. Is it not necessary to have support from a local reseller or do they offer this centrally with a sub-contractor?

Just had a meeting about it this morning. In terms of contract cost, the Kyocera's look like the best deal and more than meet the spec of our current volumes. Thy also offer a much higher page per minute than the Sharp and Ricoh devices quoted. If I could ask another question, does anyone have any experience or advice on any of the potential suppliers? They are Sapphire Print Solutions, Clarity Pennine and Alto Digital. Again, any insight gratefully recieved! Andy

We are going through a process of reducing our printer fleet from 100+ to around 20 by introducing MFDs. We have proposals from three different providers offering Ricoh, Sharp or Kyocera products and Papercut MF as the management solution (we currently use Papercut NG). Just wondering what experience people have of these three makes in terms of reliability and ease of use? It's a five year contact so I don't want to make the wrong decision! Thank Andy

Thanks CAWJames that is exactly what I did. Found a freshclam.log file that had grown to 1.1Tb !! I have deleted it and all is well again. I will know what to look for should this happen again. Andy

Help! any Moodlers, MySQL experts out there? Running Moodle 2.6 on Linux debian as a virtual machine on VMware. Yesterday morning got a database error when browsing to Moodle and took the following steps: Rebooted the server and fsck kicked in, took an absolute age to complete the check but then booted ok except failed to run the MySQL service. Logged in and ran df -h command which showed no free space on the disk. 1.4T disk but the previous nights full backup had only been around 500GB? Used FTP client to access and browse the folder structure, found and deleted lots of old moodle sql backups freeing up about 100Gb. Restarted mySQL and all was good for about four hours, successive df -h commands showed that the free space was diminishing rapidly Looked for advice online which suggested it could be a process running on a deleted file, ran lsof | grep "deleted" but didn't find anything. Did a disk clean up to make a bit more space, apt-get clean. Now going to increase the size of the vm disk but this may be futile as I think the disk space will be swallowed up by whatever the underlying cause is. Has anyone come across this or similar? We recently got a quote for benching to convert a classroom into an IT Suite. It is a small room, 24 pc's and just standard worktop and frame required, nothing technical or fancy. The quote was just short of £8K !! Just wondering if anyone here can recommend an alternative supplier or solution for this? Obviously we want something robust enough to handle students sitting on it when the teacher isn't around but £8K !! I could do it myself if I had time and our Site Staff won't do it. It's a fairly straightforward job for a joiner or fitter. Thanks in anticipation. Andy

Hi To take control of what add-ons are enabled in IE for our users and ensure the ones we want are enabled, we have started using the CLSID of the add-on and Gropu policy to manage them following this guide: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn454941.aspx However once this has been setup, all of the add-ons that we list show up as incompatible when a student logs on and they do not run. I'm fairly sure that this is being caused by another GP setting somewhere but not sure which one. Has anyone come across this? Thanks Andy

Just putting this out there for information... We had a HMI Inspector in College a fortnight ago specifically to look into how we are dealing with the PREVENT agenda. Our Vice Principal set up a schedule for the day and I was due to meet with the inspector alongside other Support staff with a pastoral role during the morning. However on arrival the inspector asked if he could meet the network manager individually. Thankfully I had prepared for this visit so it wasn't a problem but in my sixteen years experience of working in Ed and I think five OFSTED inspections, I have never known the network manager to be asked for a 1:1 meeting. I had put some PREVENT specific scheduled reports in place looking at Smoothwall categories of Terrorism, Intolerance and Violence and created a PREVENT specific block page providing advice of who to contact etc. We also have a desktop link for all staff to online Prevent training, in case anyone wants to refresh on the training they have all had. To be honest the Inspectors questions were quite basic. Do you filter internet access? What sorts of things are filtered? How do you know things are being blocked? What systems do you have in place? I got the impression that they are still learning what to ask about but hopefully this info will be of use to some of you out there. Andy
