That is pretty much how many primary school support roles are. You will be asked to do almost anything. The important thing is to keep senior people happy, such as your boss, the head, SLT. And make sure you do urgent jobs only at times like this. Remember its the start of the school year so your going to be really busy. You will also have to deal with total w*nkers, but that is also part of the job, just don't take it personal. I personally would not pass on jobs, not at this early stage. You want to get to the situation where your school cannot do without you, or without the hassle of replacing you. When you are at this point, you can say to your boss I can't do this or that as I have higher prioritys, but if your this new they might get the hump and make life more difficult. Its a grey area, you need to do what they ask, but also draw the border of where it stops. The exception is creating power points, that is a no no and who ever told you to do that, even if it was the head, explain to them clearly and briefly that you will not be doing that as you have to check the backup and carry out vital server work. Don't say no to them, make it should like you would like to do it, but are too busy. I would advise you stick it out, do the best you can and perhaps talk to the school later in a few months about getting a part time apprentice (if that can be done). If its still the same by christmas then start looking for something new next year. I don't think I ever had a hand over and have worked in six primary's. Edugeek is always your friend and Google. Think of the positive things, in the mornings write things on a note pad what you are doing that day (plan to anyway), take a tea break every now and then, and also work late a few nights a week. Go out for lunch, take a walk. I guarantee you it will get better by half term. Would you want it dead slow instead?

The last CRT monitor was replaced in 2013 here. My school years started with green and black CRT monitors (in primary school, it was old then as my school had no money), remember playing games on them, with a window and flowers, god knows what game that was, and ended with full colour windows 98. Think as I left college the first LCD screens/ xp were coming in. I still think CRT TV's offer a better picture for old stuff, 70's etc. On LCD screens the stuff just does not look clear.

I hated maths at school and ended up having to re-sit to get the C grade, never been any use to me at all. There are people who work in IT with no GCSE in maths. They are much better than me with IP set up etc.

As others have said forget about Tesco, just contact Acer. You get what you pay for with Acer, other brands. The cheap models are cheap.

I used to help out with these sorts of classes a few times. They would start with the computers turned off, and go all the way through, setting them up an email account, writing down the details, how to search the web etc. Youtube is good once they can get to it, searching for various things. However some people could not get the hang of it at all. If you have ever watched the the Osbournes, there is a clip with Ozzy Osbourne trying to use a computer, that sort of sums it up.

Both my machines activated. Have extracted the windows 10 keys, not sure if these can be used for a clean install. I also noticed once Windows 10 install is complete, there is am express settings button and a small custom settings link below, the express setting basically means lots of your data, including browsing history, is sent to Microsoft.

First off, you don't need any qualification, although it would help if you did. Lots of places see it as a must, and lots don't. I have never had any and found getting a job was easy but it takes a few months, you just need to get your foot in the door to gain your first experience, that is the hard part. Your age will play slightly against you a bit as some people prefer to take on teenagers when starting out. But your still young. I would simply recommend you apply for every school IT tech job you see, even if they ask for qualifications. Sometimes they get bad responses and are desperate, you never know they might just offer you the job, that is how I got my first job. I was taken on only temporary as my place could not find anyone, I ended up staying for years and learnt a lot that allowed me to move on. But be prepared to suffer a lot of rejections, don't give up, something will come along. Maybe try volunteering for a charity, Gumtree often has ad's from charitys asking for someone to work on their IT. This might be difficult if you are working. If you have common sense and good problem solving skills, you will make a good tech.

I have two machines at home, one of 7, and one on 8 that family use. I will be upgrading them both. The icon has already appeared asking me to "reserve" a copy. I can't say that I use my computer for much these days, most of the stuff I do on my phone. The only time my Mac is switched on is when I need to send off my CV or when I need to do something that only a PC/Mac can do. Same with my family. I think the days of laptops and desktops are numbered. There will always be workstations for working, but on a personal level, I think in a decades time desktops and laptops will be a thing of the past in homes for the average Joe if not already.
