Sharepoint based LMS by ElearningForce
dagza replied to edu-inter's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
Thanks a lot for the information. I only came across this product this morning via the TES forum. I am going to have a meeting with my line manager tomorrow to see if there is a better way forward than SLK and I will be using this as one alternative ways forward that I want to look at. It adds a few things I miss from my moodle days. I was particuarly interested in the course feature I saw on the tutorial vids I saw this morning (without sound) and was hoping you would be able to eloborate on this aspect of the LMS further. Also are there any plans to get it to talk to MIS like Facility CMIS? Darren -

So is sharepointLMS something that a person with the required knowledge would be able to create themselves or does it add additional functionality not found in MOSS 07? Ta -
Ordered a converter with the leads for 60 quid on ebay. The same as the one keene are selling but 1/2 price. Will have to wait for it to come from the states though. Darren

Thanks for all of the help. Can someone confirm the mac mini does DVI-D before I shell out. I have googled it but am non the wiser TBH. Ta
-
I'm going the other way . VGA (or DVI) from the mac mini to HD component on the plasma.
-
This is the lead if the signal outputs HD component and this is the converter they suggested.
-
I got an email back from keene.co.uk saying if I can set the mac mini dvi output to ypbpr then all I need is a lead with different ends on for about 20 quid. If not then I need a converter. I suspect you can't change the signal so I'm looking at a convertor. The converter only accepts DVI-D which I think is what the mac mini does but would be gratefull of confirmation before I shell out a hundred quid. Ta Darren

Morning. I have my mac mini hooked up to the TV using a DVI to VGA converter from apple then a VGA cable and this is great but I really need it to go to YPbPr component (the TV does not have hdmi). Been reading around on this on the internet and am just getting very confused. Has anyone done this? Which lead do I need? Will I need to buy a signal converter as this article seems to suggest? I can only find suppliers in the USA but this or this may do similar. Thanks a million in advance if you can help.

Hello Does anyone know if there is there a piece of software that will scan my music (itunes) folder and give me a list of albums which are missing needed to complete the artist's discography? I think iTunes does something like this but i would imagine this only works against tracks in the iTunes store which may not be complete. Ta Darren

It is a Belkin router. Darren

Thanks for the response. I don't think so. The router is just upstairs. The laptops (Vista and XP) pick it up ok as does the iMac when I bring that downstairs (Tiger). Darren

Grrrr For some reason I cannot get my mac to remember the WEP key and network name. I can't even add the network when they machine starts. I have to run the diagnostics and add it as a closed network. I tell the mac to remember it in the keychain and I also add it as a preferred network but no joy. I changed the login keychain entry to allow all applications access but there is also a network entry in the system keychain. When I access this I have to authenticate (fair enough) but when I set it to allow all applications access I get prompted for a system password. I haven't set one so can't change it. Am I correct to be exploring the system keychain issue or do you think something else is preventing it from sticking? Thanks Darren

It was the new apple TV that got me to consider the mac mini. Sure the mini is a lot more expensive but it will be able to do the same and more (like release 120 gig from my imac) I have ordered a mac mini to replace my DVD player and I will also put my photos and music on . Saved about 40 quid or so going through the education store. I think I need an adapter and component leads to plug it into my TV but will wait until it arrives. My TV does VGA but this is at the front so would look ugly with the panel open but I may put up with that for the mo. Anyhoo, I may also get TVmax+ so I can just rip things from the Sky box to the mac (for work or keepsy). I have a great little device that does similar (firewire to component) but it is broke Speaking of being broke, what mac software would be useful for a machine hooked up to a TV beyond iTunes, iPhoto, DVD player and Front Row ? Hello Where do I change header.png to header.jpg for my site? I tried in the css file for the template but it made no difference - ict still loads the png file. I couldn't see any reference in the template HTML file. TIA Darren

Hmmmmmm. Still having problems. I got wordpress installed and working but I can't get phpmyadmin to work. A site says it needs these extensions to work: extension=php_gd2.dll extension=php_mbstring.dll extension=php_mcrypt.dll extension=php_mysql.dll I put them in the correct folder and in the php.ini file (the one in windows and the one in the PHP folder) but they are not showing up on my phpinfo file (except mysql). UPDATE: Partially fixed thanks to http://www.iis-aid.com/articles/how_to_guides/installing_php_5_on_iis_in_5_simple_steps I think it was because the session and log paths were default and, perhaps because they were truncated. phpmyadmin is still complaining about mbstring though but everything else seems fine.

Great, thanks for the link. Copying the php.ini file to the windows folder seems to have done it. Thanks again

Hello I have the school website (created with the joomla edugeek package) on my laptop which I want to move to the school's webserver. Yesterday was the first time I played with IIS so I have no idea what I am doing! I managed to get php installed and can view a php info page on the server over the web. I managed to get mysql installed and confirmed this by installing the system tray app from the community site. When I try to get phpmyadmin installed I get an error message telling me: Cannot load mysql extension. Please check your PHP configuration. The only fix I can find is to ensure that the extention=php_mysql.dll is uncommented in the php.ini file - which it is! Also the extension dir points to the correct place. My head hurts. Any thoughts? Darren (PS latest PHP and MySQL installers were used)

Hello My photos and music are taking up a lot of space on my iMac. Been thinking about getting a mac mini and putting them all on there and hooking it up to the TV. Loose my DVD player and get a bluetooth keyboard and gyro mouse - I reckon I could get the domestic boss to go along with that. Sounds a bit silly when I type this aloud but what is the best way to make the mac mini connect with my wireless network / router. Presumably the mac mini is not wireless and I can get similar kit as apple would offer but at a better price. Recommendations? Also I would imagine I would fill the disk in a year or two. Is it easy to swap out the hard disk for something with a larger capacity or is it a PITA ? Time Capsule after this :-) TIA Darren

Which version is this in please? I have elements 3 on my iMac and have found an enhance menu which is fair at sorting out levels in one click but have not found a wizzard as such. I have also found the dust filter but I think I would be better off cloning by hand. Unless I am missing something obvious it would appear elements only goes to version 4 on the mac and 6 on windows. Upgrade to 4 or use the windows version to do this? Darren

Thanks for the comments so far. That was quick! I'm not shy of photoshop and my brother is a graphic designer so I will pass the nicer photos to him to touch up properly. I was just hoping for a program that would either do a batch ior quickly identify the problem with each individual photo and solve (some of) the problems. This was the best hit from google so far: http://www.colorpilot.com/ I have downloaded the 2 demos but am too busy scanning to investigate! I will look at that tomorrow afternoon. I have bloody thousands of scans to get through. When I look back at the images I am really glad my dad was a photographer ..... until I look at the carrier bags of prints :-) Darren

Hello I am currently scanning a load of family photos and need some mac (preferably) software to help me restore them. I have iPhoto which is too basic for the task. I also have Fireworks and Photoshop but I was looking for something a little more automatic. At least some software to get me started by doing some of the work before I drop them in to an image editor. The photos vary in quality so am looking for something which will handle colour / greyscale correction, noise and rips and bends on the photos. Anyone any experience? All comments very much appreciated. Darren

Great, thanks. I will look into this.

Thanks for the response. That's a shame. It is MS Sharepoint and I suspect it is running on IIS. It hasn't got anything additional installed such as PHP.

Hello. Hope I am in the right forum! I know nothing about javascript but need a script that will: get the computer IP address IF IPaddress="217.x.x.x" then { display an image} else { run a script I have } The problem is I have a nice animated slideshow on the VLE but it crashes when viewing over remote desktop. Anyone? Thanks Darren

That's great, thanks. This appears to have sorted out the sign on but may have caused a couple of other problems 8O Now when we log on from outside we have to type in the domain before the user name. Anyone know of a way to fix this? Also the class server client no longer connects to the site over the internet (it works from inside school). It claims it can't find the URL. Of course this could just be a coincidence but nothing else has changed to the best of my knowledge. Anyone?
