Happy user of Salamander for 3 years, tried Locker due to it been used elsewhere in the MAT and regretted it from day one, we had all sorts of issues with distribution lists being inaccurate, creating duplicate accounts,not working with our hybrid setup, honestly we had issues every single day, also the software was not able to distinguish between lowercase and upper case until they released a new version. Compared to Salamander its years behind in its capabilities, the main issue for me is that it uses email in sims as the unique identifier, so if the email is wrong you will get all sorts of problems, I'm not expert but I think they should have used a more unique identifier. I've returned to salamander and whilst Locker has an interface you cant really tell what it is doing and you have to send the logs to support anyway. Your experience may vary but I'm not going back to Locker.

Ericom has a 60 day trial license running now, it was £60 per seat when I last enquired for a perpetual license, I like Guacamole but it has a steep learning curve but it does work with google authenticator for 2FA, RDP is heavily targeted by malware across the internet so it really needs a RDS Gateway in front of it which delays implementation

Personally I think that the disaster recovery plan needs to take into account the level of disruption, the scenario you point to at the top assumes that the school is operational but the IT system is completely wiped, that is unlikely but worth writing down, i guess what Im trying to say is that you could plan for the cloud restore of critical services which will likely be less than 5 grand for however long it takes for normal operation to resume.

Another vote for Backup Assist, being using for over 3+ years, very intuitive, rock solid and annual support is less than £100.

For a small network, i would use Passler's PRTG which is free and runs on windows, if you are happy to play with Linux i would go for LibreNMS , both free up to a point, but require snmp configuration on end devices A

Do you have access to the current mx records?, if so you can modify the office 365 settings in the admin centre page, path as follows: Office365 Admin Centre > Setup > Domains

I pointed the dns settings in office 365 to the on premises box, so for example we are on LFGL and we have a domain example.com on the on premises server, the existing MX DNS (before office 365) settings for the on-premises server points to mx.atomwide.com, i replicated this on office365, essentially im telling office365 to query my exchange server for that domain, hope that makes sense

Have you tried the microsoft connectivity analyzer?, its sounds like you have an issue with autodiscover, which normally points to a DNS issue. https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com

Andy, Sharp and Kyocera are budget machines, hence why they are cheaper, in my experience they work well up to the 3 year mark at which point they become unreliable, there are government frameworks that stipulate that after a 3 year agreement it reverts to a 30 day notice period, at which point you can run the machines until they become unreliable, personally for a 5 year term I would chose Ricoh.

PS Financials (from a 2011 and a 2016 implementation), in a nutshell, 1. polished sales talk, 2. poor implementation (product is far too complicated hence the endless support calls), and 3.
