There are models of laptop that do not do video over USB C at all. Note that the USB C dock is normally just passing the video through, they are rarely actually a USB graphics card. So, you need to check the USB C specs for the laptops in question to make sure this is supported.

Hi! Just thought I'd report that this issue seems to still exist, Win10 1903 with all the updates + the last of the Promethean serial drivers is giving random mouse button swaps for us too. I've another source of this issue - at some point our SIMS server decided it was not really connected to our LAN but was instead on a public network, and so it enabled it's firewall and blocked all connections attempts! Firewall now disabled while I figure out why this happened.

Try Geox - I've had several types and have found they are good quality, last well + have breathable soles, not something many (anyone?) offer. Possibly best bought from an outlet centre, but still cheaper than Hugo Boss even at normal retail prices.

You might also like to try WinDirStat as another free way to view what is eating up all your space, WinDirStat - Windows Directory Statistics. It take a little getting used to, but is a very powerful way to spot what is happening, you can also use it to help in finding duplicate sets of large folders too.

Hi, Can anyone help me increase the size of the zone used when you use drag and drop to upload files in My Files. We've just upgraded from 8.7 to 9.1 hoping this would improve matters, but it appears that the size of the zone is now smaller. The issue is that if you are viewing a folder with just a few files, then the area of the screen you are able to drop files into only seems to extend to the bottom of the file list, and if you drop a file below this, then it gets opened instead of uploaded. At those prices and speeds I really do not think it is worth it. I've an iPad 3 with data SIM from Three, and have regularly seen 12Mb uploads AND downloads. I'm paying ~ £8 a month for 3Gb cap on this, and £12 a month for unlimited data on another Three SIM, with those prices and speeds there is no way I'd switch to this supposed 4G offering. Why did they allow 4G to be redefined, it was meant to mean 100Mb to 1Gb speeds, not this half way attempt that is little improvement over a good 3G (or 3.5G as Three call it anyway).

EES can look like an amazing deal when viewed in the right light. If you are paying thousands per year for antivirus, web and mail filtering, then by switching to the MS options bundled with EES (I believe Enterprise is needed for mail filtering) then you can effectively pay for EES in the savings made by not paying for these elsewhere. In effect, you pay MS for your protection and then get free access to the latest Office and Windows! If you are in the position where these services are supplied by a local learning grid, then they may not be happy about un-bundling them, in which case you may be able to save again by switching to a non-LEA ISP.

Hi, I've done a clean install of HAP v.8 on IIS7.5 (Server 2008 R2), but it shows that the services are not activated. If I visit 'HAP/api/setup' I get the error "A binding instance has already been associated to listen URI". I am trying to run HAP from a virtual directory since we do not want to place in the the main wwwroot, but do not know if this matters. Otherwise, I have followed the updated install documentation to the letter. Quick update: For testing, I've moved to using a folder in IISRoot instead of the virtual directory, but still get the same error. Thanks, Tony

Another option, for those with EES, is Forefront Online Protection for Exchange. All your mail is routed first through Microsoft's mail server (so, you need to change your MX record to point there), before it is then delivered to the school. This has several advantages, not least of which being your servers do not get hit by all the unwanted mail, as well as offloading the responsibility for keeping everything up to date. Hi! Has anyone succeeded getting the new CMIS integration plugin for moodle 2.2 working on a moodle running in a WIMP setup? To be speciic, we've a new Windows 2008 R2 server, running IIS, PHP 5.3.13 and MySQL 5.1.61. I'm trying to connect to the CMIS server, but am having problems understanding exactly which SQL connection DLLs etc are required in PHP. Also, can anyone give me a pointer as to what the SSQL DataSource Name should be? The server details I have working ijn my old CMIS plug in config file are host=cmis-server and dbname=CMIS_ADMIN. In order to use these as a DSN, what format should I put them in? Thanks, Tony

Thanks for the confirmation. The strange part of this is that I think the site that received this is an EES Enterprise customer. I hope this is not the case, and EES Enterprise does still include FOPE, but I seem to be having problems today finding that information on their licensing pages.

Hi all, Just thought I'd share the current difficulties I'm having at a couple of sites who've opted out of LGfL2 and went instead for the Synetrix / Capita offering of OpenHive (actually Talk Talk!) - Network currently down, no ETA for a fix, been down since 11pm last night, they are 'looking into it' - DNS records hosted by them messed up on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday this stopped some email being sent from an internal Exchange server via the OpenHive SMTP relay. Yesterday, until the internet connection died altogether, it stopped all external access to internally hosted services - Port 25 outgoing blocked. At another site we are trying to use the Microsoft Forefront Online Protection for Exchange servers to send and receive email. Incoming works great, filtering and delivering with no problems. Outgoing, not working, port 25 is blocked by the ISP and they are refusing to open it up, even just to a single domain name. Incidentally, we opted out of paying for the SMTP services, but they are still insisting the only way to send is by using a service we are not paying for! - No documentation, SLA, or paperwork of any description has been received. Internet connection details have simply been passed by word of mouth by installation engineers and the telephone support team. So, is everyone else who moved from LGFL to Synetrix happy, or are there others with more problems than me!... [EDIT: Just realised, not likely to get too many replies at the moment, since my intended audience have no internet!]

I picked up one of these a couple of months back - Buy Asus UL30/A32a netbook 13.1 inch 3gb 320gb win7 at Morgan Computers using a 10% off code like 'SALE5' (that may still work if you are luck, I was). I ended up with a fairly small light laptop, with great build quality, amazing battery life, Win7 Home Premium, and costing £225, and it still had the original 1 year warranty that had never been registered. Ok, it is not the most powerful machine, but for the money, it's nice to use and the 10 hour+ battery life is quite simply amazing, also very loud loud speakers too, much better than any other laptop I've used (and I see a lot of laptops at work...). Highly recommended.

Rather than running full PCs attached to the large screen TV's, this looks like a great place to stick a RaspberryPi (Raspberry Pi | An ARM GNU/Linux box for $25. Take a byte!). As long as your information display screen technology is web based then it should not be too hard to get one of these to boot up to displaying the correct web page... At £22 a go they cost a lot less then any other solution, should generate very little heat, and if the TV has a USB socket then should be able to power up from there too...

I believe that you're confusing Amps here. For example, ff you look at a typical laptop power supply, you will see a label showing two sets of figures, in and out, the one I'm using now shows: Input - 100/240V at 1.5A Output - 19V at 3.42A It is the input Ampage figure that is relevant to the mains power supply. Typically a standard wall outlet is rated to supply 13A, so, I should safely be able to run 8 of such power supplies for a single socket (8 x 1.5 = 12 amps). Note, this is for a laptop which is capable of drawing enough power, not only to run and charge itself, but also to run several USB ports at the same time. You should check the figures on the power adapters you wish to use. EDIT: Just found these figures for the genuine Apple iPad charger: Input 100-240V 0.45A 50-60Hz Output: 5.1V 2.3A So, 28 of these could be run from a single 13A socket (28 x .45 = 12.6 Amps)....

Apple do actually support enterprise deployment and lockdown for their devices - Apple - Support - iPhone - Enterprise. I am not aware of anything like this for Android, but then I have not looked either. But, it still does not get around the fact that they are inherently personal devices, so not ideal for sharing. I think our best hope is Windows 8 - if the tablet version can be joined to the domain then it could be exactly what we are all looking for...

If you know your way around a Windows server then I'd stick with that. But I'd stay well clear of XAMPP or anything like that (which is what you get in a packaged moodle install, this is strictly for testing and development, definitely not deployment use!), and go straight down the Microsoft Web Platform Installer route recommended above. This does a very nice, proper, secure, installation of PHP and MySQL for you, and then installs moodle on top of them. All sitting on top of IIS and Windows, and can even be updated using WPI as well. Getting SSO working with AD is much simpler using this route to.
