I'm having issues with my new laptops, it's happening randomly. The computer start normally, applying GPO's and everything (verbose mode enabled) but the keyboard and mouse (mouse pad) don't work. I have to press the power button, it shutdown the computer and start again, then it works. As I said it happens randomly, no always the same laptop but only happens on the new laptops. Any ideas? New laptops has SSD drive btw.

In my case I will use it just for having another copy of my backups, so the first month I would upload 2TB and the next just changes. I will chose Local Redundant Store

[TH]STORAGE CAPACITY[/TH] [TH]LRS[/TH] [TH]GRS[/TH] [TH]RA-GRS[/TH]

First 1 TB / Month £0.0305 per GB £0.058 per GB £0.0733 per GB

Next 49 TB (1 to 50 TB) / Month £0.0305 per GB £0.0489 per GB £0.0611 per GB

0.0305 * 2TB = £62.5/Month , not bad I think

I need to save a copy of my backups outside my school and I was thinking in Azure. I've been looking it and it would cost about £38/TB/Month. @mdrabble have you perform your backups with Azure finally? I've been reading about VEEAM but I'm not decided yet. Any advice? Thanks

That's what I think too, as long as the document doesn't have sensible information such a SEN we'll be 0k. The information about children won't be store but everything else such a PowerPoint presentations, texts for reading, math lessons will Am I right or wrong? :what:

0k I've read the reports. the reports talk about PERSONAL DATA, so as long as they use the service just for work documents (words, power points, publishers, ....) it will be 0k. And yes @Arthur you're right, Microsoft gives 5GB right now for free but still will be enough for my experiment.

Sugar!!!! didn't know that .... I wanna cry now .....

That's my idea, to teach them upload what they want to work off campus with.

Live account gives you 15GB for free I don't care where Microsoft store my data, we don't have anything to hide.

I'm going to start using OneDrive for staff. My idea is start with the free service that is giving you 15GB (more than enough for every member in my case) and train them to use it through web. I don't want synchronise their laptops with OneDrive because the idea is showing them the possibilities of clouding. They will be able to access their data from everywhere. If they know they have a local folder synchronised they will keep believing they need their laptop and my idea is the opposite, avoid them to take laptops at home. Once they see this is beneficial for them (I hope) not only because of the laptops, also the no need of using memory sticks, mail for sending documents to themselves, etc etc, AND (big AND) they leave their laptops onsite I will think about synchronisation.

The GPO will be shown as applied. You can check it on a workstation using admin local user (or other with privileges) and rsop -

1 - Create a .bat with the command 2 - Create a new GPO 3 - Under Computer add the .bat on start script 4 - Filter using security filter (do not forget click on apply GPO) 5 - Link the GPO onto your OU -
How do you keep your laptops upto date
vimagoes replied to wilson2010's topic in How do you do....it?
Through WSUS Staff: Every time I have new updates, so almost everyday Pupils: Term only, but I've got just 15 laptops, so no big deal. It's a PITA because every term I have to update tons of updates but my WSUS does it for me -

Don't think that trunking a couple of 1GB NIC is going to become 2GB. I've got a ReadyNAS 2120 v2 with 2 NICs 1GB each and the most beneficial for your network is configure them as Round Robin and get a load balance on your NAS access. Besides if your NAS can the best option in my opinion is RAID10.

Thanks, the B50 has been my first thought. It looks tougher than my HP's, although as you have said a willful damage won't be prevented.

Hi there, I am thinking in getting rid of my ICT class because is too small for 30 kids. So the idea is move from desktop to laptops, so that, children will be able to use them in class without the need of going to ICT class. My question is. What is the best option? I mean, right now they are using HP 250 G2 and they are fine but they are busting them day by day , so my thinking is to buy laptops more robust, meaning, more durable. Any idea? I have heard about Lenovo but any other hint would be appreciated. Thanks
