  1. Thanks for all your feedback, seems a unwanted risk for very little benefit to me, will have to bring it up with the powers that be. Thanks Again.
  2. Thanks Steve, Same opinion as you, think we may need to dig our heels in a bit.
  3. Hi All, We have been recently been asked to look into single sign on for Sims.net. We are aware this is possible but we have never had any great need or wanted to do this until now. Does anyone have any information on how we set this up, linking the AD accounts to the Sims accounts, as it stands both accounts are seperate with different usernames for both. We have a inhouse Sims server so we are not hosted or anything. The information I have found up until now is very vague mainly editing the connect.ini files. Also has anyone got any good\bad experiances of the above, I'm very reluctant to do it to be honest, I think it takes away a layer of security and there's always a risk a staff member could leave a PC logged on with access to Sims. Adding short locking screens to the PCs brings its own problems. Any info\opinions would be great. Thanks Webbobfc
  4. Thanks for all your feedback, really helpful and given us a starting point. We have asked the same questions ourselves over the years whether touch devices are really required, we have smartboards all over the school and besides our Maths and Science depts they are basically glorified screens to project onto.
  5. Hi All, There's a few threads on here regarding the same topic, just wondered if there are any further opinions. We are looking to start dipping our toe into the interactive TV market, we currently have smartboards in all our classrooms with projectors and they are all starting to show their age. One room in particular needs a full setup installing and we have put to SMT the thought of trying a interactive screen. There's a wealth of screens out by different manufacturers and I'd like to narrow it down to 3 and get some demo kit, we had some a couple of years ago but presume things have evolved since then. Anyone point us in the right direction, Smart, Clevertouch, BenQ etc. We use smart notebook but its not a show stopper if we don't use Smart. We want as big as possible but I suspect budgets will limit us to 65-70inch. Any opinions on the Epson smart projectors? Any advantages on using these over a screen other than the price? Or should we stick to screens? Thanks Paul
  6. Thanks for the advice, I'll give it it a go on a test hyperv server first.
  7. Hi All, We have got a physical 2008R2 sharepoint server which we use solely for the SLG web tier which we are looking to virtualise in hyperV. The server has a C: drive and a D: drive which is on two separate disk arrays which have 2 disks each both set to raid 1. I have stopped all the sharepoint and SQL services and run the disk2vhd and this has created 2 VHDX files, server-0.vhdx and server-1.vhdx which I presume is for the 2 volumes. Have I done this correctly? How do I go about importing the 2 VHDX files into hyperV so I can load the VM with both the existing c: and d: drives. Think there's probably a simple solution. I have just fired the old physical server back on for now and I'll try another time but any advice is appreciated. Thanks Paul
  8. Hi All, Hope someone can point me in the right direction. We are shortly migrating our Sims.net server from physical to VM. I'm fine with the Sims.net, Discover, Solus etc move should hopefully be straight forward, but I'm a little unsure on how to transfer the SLG app tier to the new server. I'm guessing you run App Tier.msi on the new server, restore the SLGBridge and ProvisioningDB, amend some webconfig files to point to the new server on the app and web tier and set the passwords for the slgaccess etc. Is there anything else I'm missing? does anyone have a step by step guide on how to complete. We have moved it previously but we had Capita do it, don't really want to pay if its reletively straight forward. I get the gist they don't like you to transfer it yourself as there is little info on My Account. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks Paul
  9. We are getting the exact same issue at my School. We are using the older version of Java at the moment, as soon as I upgrade to version 8 update 31 it doesn't want to work. I have logged a call with Enlight but they haven't resolved as of yet. If you find any solutions let us know. Cheers.
  10. Hi all, We have got boxes and boxes of used original toner cartridges that we need to dispose of. Has anyone had any dealings with any reputable companies who will take them off our hands. We wouldn't mind making a few quid on them if possible. They are all originals, mainly Brother toners, TN-325, TN-135 etc. Thanks
