Update : erased the disk and manually installed Ventura - remote management working again!
-
I’ve got an M2 MacBook Air that shipped with Ventura. We always allow remote management by the admin account so that I can ARD into macs. Before setting the remote management setting - ( sharing>remote management…) I upgrade to Sonoma. Now - when I set the “allow only these users” and add the admin account - it keeps losing the setting - ie I click away and come back and the admin account has gone from the allowed user. Tried so many different things - any ideas on how to solve this? I’ve reset to factory settings but no good. I also tried to down grade back to Ventura - but being M2 it won’t let me! :-/

Onboarding/ Induction software recommendations
Eudora931 replied to Eudora931's topic in General Chat
I can take a look at that - ideally we would like something that can be e-signed to say it's been completed - something that takes the inductee through e.g policies or watch videos and lets them move on once they have completed that step , something that tracks progress e.g 7 steps of out 15 completed , produces digital certificates for completed module where required, ability to add links to docs/ folders on Google drive - the more I'm writing this the more I'm thinking I looking at some sort of training package maybe? Any thoughts /ideas or even terms to google much appreciated :-) -
Onboarding/ Induction software recommendations

we don't have an inhouse HR software as most of it done externally -
We’re looking into whether there is suitable software that we can use for inducting new staff. Would need to be able to do things like: Ability to sign documents ( e.g policies) to say they have read and understood A road map ( type of thing ) that tracks how far down the induction process they have completed Things like - DBS checked, badge printed , device issued , school tour done , safeguarding training completed etc etc etc Ideally something compatible with Google Workspace and also works on iPads / mobile devices Thanks in advance

Hey @NikChillin - we never got it resolved even after Genee techs came out . The board finally gave up the ghost and I ended up replacing the unit. Are your boards standalone or domain joined?

Hi, We are heavy mac environment running on Server 2012. I have bound macs and imacs to the AD. I now want to allow users to change their mac passwords - however, when I log onto a mac as the user and try to change the password it is coming up with the password not meeting the password complexity rules ( this has been turned off on the DC's so not sure why it is complaining) I can change the password on the AD directly from the server and it changes it for the mac, but able to reset it from the mac. Any ideas? TIA

Not sure where to put this - so please feel free to move :-) Looking to replace our current RM finance package for a cloud based solution . What do other schools use? Would like an idea of some companies to demo for us Thanks in advance

DHCP - new sub net and failover relationship
Eudora931 replied to Eudora931's topic in Windows Server 2012
I have 4 virtual servers on 2 hyper v hosts and one physical. 2 x dc's which are replicated ( for DHCP failover) and a fileserver that is replicated across the 2 dc's . Is there a preferred order in which we should change the mask on each of the server nic's? What about the hosts? 2x main printers and then about 6 hp's across the school. Devices are things like the digital signage and more importantly the secure door access and cctv . Each of the statics have reservations. -

DHCP - new sub net and failover relationship
Eudora931 replied to Eudora931's topic in Windows Server 2012
Do you mean change the subnet masks for those statics - IE can I keep the IP address the same? ( one of the new ranges will be the same as one the statics are currently on) -

Hi, Would appreciate any tips/ heads up for the situation I have found myself in...long story .. But .. I have someone coming in on Monday to do some sub netting 1) to create more IP's 2) to switch from broadband provider 1 to BB provider 2 Current setup is : 2 dc's being replicated with a failover relationship Several key devices with static IP's that will be given IP's from the new subnet before the subnet is created. ( using IP's from a range that currently exists and will also be part of the new subnet ) The proposal is to delete the current DHCP scope (which is a Superscope ) and create a new one . Questions: will the devices with the current static IP addresses (as long as they are also in new range ) still work? How do we make sure the replication and failover relationship works ? Will it have to be set up again? Not an expert on this level so ANY help advice, tips, gotchas very much appreciated . Would have liked to have more time to do this properly , but hand has been forced and neither of the people who set it up initially are available :-( Sincere thanks in advance

Ok, so solved the issue : Set one of the software install GPO's to set theStartup policy processing wait time - this delayed the logon and all software then installed.
