Im someone who has used several of the major mis systems in a school environment and currently supports many schools with different systems... I AM trying to give you all a clue...

could it be that capita are playing catch-up with the other mis providers.....

Just to clarify, Serco have released an upgrade... Here in Birmingham we have identified additional issues which we feel would cause problems for our schools and we have requested additional fixes from Serco before we release to the schools we support. We understand that other LA / Support Teams are taking the same view at present..

Its because of the issues of data protection and network install issues that Link2ICT have developed and promoted a solution for Birmingham Schools using Facility Admin (CMIS) to replace eProfile. We are also currently beta testing a similar solution for the SIMS schools we support. I understand that the DCSF are no-longer going to promote eProfile as their 'chosen' solution for recording EYFS assessment information.

If you give link2ICT a call we will be able to sort out the bitlets for you, or solve any other issues preventing this from not working as it should. Also if you need any further assistance we can offer training and consultancy on this and any other area of the software. Andy C

Do I spy a capita employee - lets face it ALL MIS systems have their issues and none of them are brilliant.

ePortal from serco certainly provides the access level currently required for access from home by parents, students and staff. This is fairly easy to set-up and doesnt require the large financial outlay required for SLG. E1 and other hosted solutions obviously provide similar functunality. Obviously all MIS providers are contining to improve their products and all seem to be moving towards hosted solutions (BSF??) - except for Capita SIMS??. From reading this any many other threads I do wonder if Sivadam works for capita tho!!

I dont see why you cant easily set-up an assessment system using facility to record short comments together with levels. Whilst the standard Serco models dont offer this flexability, the software does easily. An APP model is currently in final stages of testing for release to primary schools (who are interested) in Birmingham, so its possible....

Sounds like a problem Ive seen before with the RM set-up .... sorry cant remember the solution.
