RAM usage is actually pretty low. I'll just have to check the services.- 4 replies

Hi guys, I need a little hand. I have a ProLiant Microserver Gen8 G1610T running WinServer 2012R2 Essentials, it's a handy piece of kit for lab and SMB/Home Server usage, but I'm having one hell of a problem with it. I always have the same services that keep stopping; W3SVC (IIS), TSGateway (RD Gateway), SQL Server Service and the Printing Service. This is quite annoying as I do rely on the first two services for AnywhereAccess, VPN and Remote desktop. I have done clean installs in the past, but to no avail. Is this something I'm doing, or is it down to a puny 2GB of RAM I have on board? Thanks, Oliver

I do BBC level 3, unfortunately I have no real experience in any programming. I do networks and hardware more. I have a basic SQL database now running on a improvised server. I just need a front end. Essentially it catalogues our schools ink supply.

They are untouched BIOSes, apart from the change that allows them to boot into the W7 bootloader. That's it. All Zoostorm computers we've had have done, well almost all. It is a pain in the a*se.

Hey, I am currently starting out in SQL, I'm a "trainee" ICT Tech at my school, so I'm currently juggling a fair bit, bareing in mind I'm still a student. I'm starting to make a Ink Inventory SQL Database, and need some help with it, I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions to FREE tutorials, with front-end design in C#. Thanks!

I thought about it, I was hoping for an internal solution, but if I can get it going it would be a start. I don't have access until at least Monday, so I will keep you updated, if anyone has any ideas though please let me know. :-)

Ah, I can't actually install ESXi with it not being able to detect my hard drive for installation.

Yep I did, it was one of the first things I tried. One question I may ask on a different post is Hyper-V vs. ESXi, but I would like to get this going... There is no RAID either, just one HD. Really scratching my head. :-(

I tried, I did have the version wrong actually... I tired 5.5, maybe a roll back to 5.1 might detect older hardware.

No doubt this will come handy for us at some point, thanks!

Ah sorry I read it wrong. Going through the basics, have you tried using a different stick or tired downloading the ROM image?

I have heard that to update the BIOS on a Proliant you use an image you download from HP, copy it to a bootable USB drive or burn it to a CD and boot it up... Hope this helps
-
Ah ok, I will need to look into that... Maybe using hyper-v on win server 2012 could be an idea...?

Hi, again, so this time, we have some Zoostorm PCs in my school. They are all cracking little machines. But they seem to have a pretty nasty -but fixable- BIOS issue. Sometimes the machines state that the BIOS is corrupted, luckily they are based of Gigabytes DualBIOS system, sp they recover automatically, great, however they switch back to Windows 8 mode, which is a problem for a Windows 7 machine. Windows 8 mode prevents the system from booting up, as it is expecting a secure bootloader, which it doesn't have, so we have to go into BIOS, turn off secure boot, set the mode to Other OS and we set a password. It fixes the problem, but it is one of those issues that we could do without. Do any of you have any reason as to why this may happen, or do you suffer with the same problems? Cheers!

Hi guys, I am a 17 y/o who is currently working with my school's IT techs with a program my school does. Anyway, I have been having problems installing ESXi on a test computer to test out how the school might do virtualisation in the future. My test machine is an old HP dc5750, and for whatever reason the ESXi installer cannot detect any hard drive I connect to it. Does a hard drive need to be formatted in any way for ESXi (5.1) to detect it, or do I need a new test machine? Thanks!
