Just posting to try an find out if anyone else has experienced a problem like this before. I bought a laptop off me gran last week because she never used it and shes had it like 4 months and I needed a lappy. Was using it friday night and i put it into sleep mode for about half an hour, come back upstairs open up my laptop and the screen is knacked. Its got a big red spikey blodge in the centre then a spikey line all the way through the centre of the screen, below the line is all white cant see anything on it. above the white line is about a million multi colour lines. can just about make the desktop out through them. The laptop was in a safe place and there was no way anyone or anything could damage it while I was gone. I did a bit of searching and it seems as though quite a few people were having the same problem. I rang up toshiba and although I said im not the only one having the problem and I couldnt have damaged the laptop in any way possible, they couldnt repair it under warranty. GRRRRR ! Should this be replaced under warranty? My nan did buy the laptop from currys so im gonna give the techguys a try tonight and see what they say. Just wandered if anyone else has had a problem like this before, n if they got it replaced under warranty an such? Cheers

Thanks for all your advice guys an girls. Finally cracked it, or my boss did anyway i was working on it all morning typical and he comes along with one bit of software and it works first time The software is called AVS DVD Player, Seems power dvd player works aswell. Ah well

still having the issue on KMPlayer will try VLC and Librarians solution update: found a solution in having to log on as individual users (using klite codecs) go to tools under klitecodecs in start menu. set speakers to 2.0 then after do the thing librarian suggested restart media player classic and it works then, this has to be done for every single user that logs on the laptop as we dont have roaming profiles either so SHOULD BE FUN!!!!!!!!

Having a problem with the DVD 'Marley and Me' Its an audio related issue and whats happening is on my user account the sound works fine (admin account + Plus account i installed codecs on) on other accounts including admin accounts, im getting background music but no voices or sound effects. Now i thought this was happening all the way through the film but its only in some scenes it seems aswell. It seems its not just happening on one either its all of em. If i try playing the DVD without the codecs i get a stupid error message telling me to update my graphics driver. Were using the K Lite codec pack on the laptops the latest ones. I have tried installed a different sound codec and that didnt work either. I have tried installed the XP Codecs pack and one other codec pack and the DVD just wouldnt run at all with them installed. Anyone got any ideas? Seems as though its something to do with the Copy Protection on it not sure though.

To your second question i think you can use a plugin which is called system-legacy which allows backwards compatability with old versions of joomla i think, just enable this plugin then try installing the component again see what happens. for the first question you have to turn off the print icons per article or catagory i think, if you look in parameters (advanced) when your editing an article you should find what your looking for

32 bit, i also located the connect.ini that way but it has stopped working now for some reason. ill have a play later ive got work to do now

dont use the drive path use the server path eg Server name= Jeff instead of S:\sims use \\jeff\sims i had this problem other day dunno why, also i had to use compatability mode xpsp3 when running sims aswell first time when you have to locate the connect.ini file. dunno why but its working fine now so bare these things in mind

It usually just happens when someone has pressed the powerbutton when its in screen saver mode, then when the user comes to use it taking it out of an idle state it'll just shut down
