  1. Can anyone suggest a reliable supplier for Epson Projector lamps? I used to use AVpartmaster but the last few times I have had faulty lamps, lamps that blew in the first 10 hours and now they have delivered the wrong ones. Thanks.
  2. Factorio - Awesome umm building/crafting game I guess Kerbal Space Program - Run a space program, build rockets and send your little green men into space. Can have quite a steep learning curve but a hell of a lot of fun and brilliant modding community. Keep talking and nobody explodes - Me and my boy have been playing this for the last few days. Brilliant multiplayer game and could work well as a party game. Stellar Tactics is one I'm debating on buying and was released in early access in the last week. Looks amazing, deep old school style rpg but with added space elements. I really want it now but trying to hold off until it is a bit more finished. Aven Colony - Another one I'm trying to resist buying until it is more finished but looks like it could end up being a really fun game (city building/management game)
  3. We use Primary School Yearbooks from only £6.50! | APFS Yearbooks Price is ok and the quality of the printing is good. However the online editor is pretty limited, for example if you want to create a custom page template there is no way to copy and paste that across multiple pages.
  4. I forgot this had started again. I found the last series quite entertaining. Yes of course they don't really have access to CCTV feeds (it says this at the start of the show) and all the rest but I just assume that they simulate it, i.e. if they go into an area with CCTV they consider them as being "seen". Even though it is not exactly "real" it is fairly close to what would be possible.
  5. There is no Thank button so, thank you for posting this.
  6. We use schoolcomms here (though it is not something I'm involved with). According to the office staff it's very good but we did have a billing issue with them. We was supposed to be on an "unlimited" texting package but because we used it too much they started charging us for it.
  7. Sorry just restarted the service host which fixed that problem but the main issue is still there (cannot create new user folders under certain folders). The negative disk space issue was if you looked at the attacked it was showing the used space as -33739954454528 didn't effect anything and was just a visual/ui glitch.
  8. Actually I haven't yet but it was on my troubleshooting list once everyone has gone home (and is the fix to the strange negative disk space issue).
  9. I did not know that this existed! Thank you very much, at least now I can offer her an alternative solution.
  10. I'm trying to create a new user folder under the "students" folder we already have for the new year intake. When I try to it fails and the message is: User folder creation failed. Could not create the folder "foldername" I can create a new folder in some of the subfolders under students but others give this message also. I cannot see any kind of properties for these folders other than changing the user template associated with them. I have also been having issues on and off with creating new users or moving them. Any idea's? I have been searching through RM site but not seen anything useful at all. Edit: In active directory I can create folders under the Students folder and Admin has full permissions. Also might be related but CC4 shows the "used space" as -33739954454528 so there is some serious strangeness going on with it. Edit 2: apprently the negative disk usage thing is just a UI bug and has no effect.
  11. So one of my teachers has a Macbook Air and wants Smartnotebook on it. Previously with Yosemite I could kludge it together by installing Ruby 1.8. Tried this on El Capitan (had to disable system protection to install it) but Smart immediately crashes when run. Exception type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGSEGV) Exception Class: KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS AT Exception Note: EXC_CORPSE_NOTIFY Anyone manged to get this working? I know running 11.4 is less than ideal but I doubt I can change it here at the moment as A) subscription costs and B) they don't like change, especially if the only real reason is for one teacher that has a Mac at home.
  12. Unless you have a really, really good one it probably isn't. The quality on even cheapo figures like reaper are better than what most 3D printers can pull off for the same price (cost of materials). You could make money by custom building items but then a lot of people will just use a commercial printing site now to get the best quality possible. Plus you have to 3D sculpt the models yourself or use open source ones which normally do not allow you to resell them. The best use for "home" 3D printers is to build the base model, then hand sculpt the details on, take a mold and then resin cast them to mass produce, cheaper and a ton fast than 3D printing. Miniature gaming is a niche market already and a lot of the popular games will use set figures which you cannot reproduce. Sometimes creating "add ons" such as guns, swords, etc, can be worthwhile but then you run into IP issues (with GW stuff especially). Things that can go well though are "markers" and custom rulers/templates. Quick to knock up models for and print, don't need massive high detail and can be sold in high quantities.
  13. Still reading through the Terry Brooks Sword of Truth series. On "Naked Empire" now with is the 5 (maybe 6th) book in the series. If you ever read these books stop on the second one and you will probably quite enjoy them, at this stage though I just want every character to die. Seems like the last 3 books have all been the same story in a different setting and I swear there was about 50 solid pages in a row of pure expositional BS in this one. I'm committed to reading the whole series but really struggling to motivate myself with this one, I'm near the end of the book and absolutely nothing has happened so far that couldn't have been told better in the first 2 chapters. The only thing that is keeping me going is that the main character has been poisoned and will hopefully die (though I'm sure some Magic-ex machina will save the day, like in the other books). I've have never read a series that has made me hate the "heroes" quite as much as this one has
  14. Have a look for reaper miniatures/pathfinder. Massive range (hundreds) of figures and the normal sized ones can be picked up for a couple of quid on ebay. reaper miniatures | eBay The quality of them might not be as high as say Wyrd or GW mini's but for the price they are mostly pretty good. Also I do mini painting commissions... just saying
  15. Hmmm personally I would ask at the end of the interview but there is definitely a possibility that asking at this stage will hurt your application. If I phoned up to offer someone a job and the first thing they ask is can they change their hours I would probably not be too happy about it. You have put them in a situation were they are either forced to accept the change or they have to undo the decision that had been made to hire you and pick someone else. It's kind of unfair (in my opinion) to apply for a job knowing you will need special conditions and not mention it to them until they have already decided to hire you.
  16. `is a grave or grave accent. ¬ is a NOT symbol used for some maths/logic stuff.
  17. On the keyboard and laptop I have in front of me they are labelled wrong. In a previous life I used to design keyboard layouts as part of my job which is slightly more interesting and complicated than it might initially sound. If a key isn't matching either the person who designed the silkscreen for printing on the keys messed up, the person coding the scancodes for the key presses messed up or the software is interpreting the scancodes in a non-standard way. Most of the time it's just the printing on the keys are wrong because it was done by someone who didn't understand the language and | and ¦ are so rarely used by anyone that they are easy to slip through testing. Once a keyboard layout has been approved once it tends to just get reused again and again over different products.

    No Man's Sky

The link below sums up pretty much the vast difference between what was promised and what was delivered, Also you did ask why I was unhappy with the game so that is below as well https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/08/17/broken-promises-of-no-mans-sky/ Warning: Slight rant below full of negativity (though hopefully it is well reasoned negativity). If YOU like this game then I respect that and you might want to just skip this post. If you haven't decided if you want to get it or not yet you might want to have a read. I must also note that I hadn't seen any of the hype for the game until after I had played it so my opinion is not based on any of the hype or expectations but what I have experienced. I really want to like this game but it is just SO shallow. Its pretty to look at but that is it. One you have played it for a couple of hours you have seen everything worth seeing, everything else from that point onwards is just the same thing with a different model or skin. I have played it enough to get a 48 slot ship and have over 100mill in units spare, I kept playing it long past the point of it being boring in the hope that something new would be introduced. It wasn't. I didn't really look at any of the hype for it, I bought it as a space exploration game with combat elements and crafting. I suppose you could say it ticks all of them boxes but once you have explored a couple of worlds there is nothing new to see. Each planet might look a little different but it doesn't have any effect on anything. It is a £20 indie game (that you would buy when its on sell) posing as a £40 AA title. Things you can explore on planets: Outposts, abandoned buildings, drop pods, manufacturing buildings, Ruins, "caves" (I think that's pretty much it). No matter what planet you go to each of these will be pretty much identical every time. Depending on which faction area they are in they will have a model/colour and a slightly different "collectable" but they are all exactly the same underneath. There is no exploring a sprawling manufacturing facility, fighting your way through an alien infestation to find some useful tech, it is land, go to the spot to collect the multitool upgrade, Activate whatever is inside (will be 1 of 2 things) and then jump in the ship and head to the next one. All of the loot containers except the ones that give tech are pointless so there is no excitement of "what will I find in here, will it be something awesome" because it wont be, it will be plutonium, the same resource that became super common once you had explored your second planet. Outpost - Will have an NPC, multitool upgrade and most likely a machine that will give you a waypoint if you "unlock it" the unlocking mini game will either be a number sequence (which is solved exactly the same way every time) or a guess the right word which you can only actually do properly if you have happened to learn all that factions words (unlikely),otherwise its a guess. Abandoned builds - There will be a tech item in there and one thing that will do you damage if you walk into it, the rest is useless. Drop pods - Always an extra exosuit upgrade that you can buy for an ever increasing price. Until you get the atlas pass so you can buy these on stations you will probably hunt down a lot of these. Etc, etc. Some of the animal life can be fun to look at and the scenery is amazing but that is it. There is no real interacting with the animals, you can feed them which gives them a smiling face icon but nothing else or you can kill them, which does nothing. Very occasionally they might be hostile if you get close but they are always easy to kill or avoid. The animal life is basically the same AI for every one with a different model attached to it. None of the planets really feel "alive". you see a small group of a single type of animal at a time and they don't really do anything but walk in circles. You can scan and log all the things you discover but that is only fun for so long as there is no real incentive to do so. You get a few units but in the grand scheme of the game its not enough to be worth the time for that alone. Things you can explore in space: Space stations, freighters, some pirate events. Every space station is exactly the same, they didn't even change the models on this one, just recoloured the interiors. Freighters just kinda sit there. You can attack them but the space combat is so crud that unless you have good upgrades the sentinels will wreck you and there isn't that much of an incentive to do it as the rewards are poor compared to just buying/selling in station or mining expensive minerals and selling on bulk. Pirates are fun when you start out in your rubbish ship and take on one or two. It is a challenge, the space combat is clunky as hell but you think it will get so much better with ship upgrades. Then you have a 40+ slot ship with 30 odd slots of upgrades and it is still clunky as hell except now you have 15 or 16 ships you need to kill. Its not hard its just frustrating and boring. You have a choice of 2 weapons and only one of them is worth using as it instantly travels so you don't have to lead the target as much (which is next to impossible to do against multiple targets with no tracking system and terrible slow ship with no lineal control methods, you can go forwards or backwards and slowly turn (No up/down or strafing manoeuvres. It makes space combat no fun at all. Space Ships: Every single ship is EXACTLY the same! The only difference is the model used for it and how many slots it has. They all move at the same speed (slow), they all have the same manoeuvrability (poor). They all use the same upgrades (which you cant transfer so have to rebuild every single time you upgrade to a new ship). There is no way to add more slots, no way to really increase speed or handling (there are upgrades that do this but even stacking 4 or 5 of them doesn't make it any better). There is no way to customise what your ship looks like or feel like. The upgrades do work but not in a way that feels special. Planet combat: Your multitool can fire a beam, "bullets" or grenades. To be fair there are quite a few interesting upgrades for each variant but it is still basically a choice of 3 weapons and you can only really pick one as you only have 1 multitool. If you want to switch between them then you have to sacrifice upgrades or destroy and recraft them any time you want to switch it up (which is not fun). Planet Generation: The planets are generally amazing to look at (despite the fact that the loading in of them is horrible as you fly over them, even with max settings). I would love to spend hours exploring each planet as they are very beautiful, there is sadly just no reason to do so )other than to look at the scenery). The whole planet type thing is pointless, Radioactive, hot, cold, it all plays exactly the same and has no baring on anything (such as animal generation, frequency of storms, resource generation, etc). Yes you can get suit upgrades to be more effective in each planet type but as you can't move them about they just take up space in your suit inventory. Seeing as there is no incentive to walk around exploring anyway most of the time you will be using your ship to jump from one thing to another. Every planet "feels" the same. Why is the gravity the same on every planet? The "base" terrain only has a few options, why do none of these planets have massive mountains or long, deep canyons? Why no dense forest? Why no water planets? I want to feel like i'm exploring different alien planets, what it feel like now is that I'm exploring the same planet with a different set of models attached to the same basic code (which is exactly what it is). UI and Game interface: Oh NMS interface why do you hate the people using you so much. I can only assume that it was made in this way as a form of punishment. Selecting an item or menu option involves holding the mouse button down for 1-2 seconds. Why? no reason, just to make navigating menus, opening containers and doing things slow as hell. You want to buy a new ship which has a couple of extra slots? Enjoy not being able to transfer any of the upgrades you have spent ages crafting for your current ship. You have to destroy them all (losing resources in the process) and then rebuild them all on the new ship. Same goes for the multitool. Gets even more annoying with the high end tech items which use harder to find/more expensive components. Why the hell cant "companion items" be moved? Every ship and multitool upgrade you make means re-crafting every companion item you had attached within it. You can't even move it within the same inventory so if you build an upgrade in the middle of the inventory where you don't want it then you have to destroy it and rebuild it in the slot that you want it in. What kind of idiot thought that not allowing the user to rearrange their inventory without destroying and rebuilding items (and losing resources in the process) was a good gameplay design feature? Why cant I build a bunch of suit upgrades and move thme to my ship storage, then I can customise my suit to fit in with whatever planet I'm on. For example I have a bunch of stuff that lets me stay under water for longer, I will never, ever build it because I rarely go Same for the multitool, Want to mine a bunch I can drop some of my combat upgrades in the ship or exosuit and then put in mining ones, BUT NO you want to switch things up you have to destroy what you have and start over. EVERY SINGLE TIME I go into a room with an NPC it moves my camera too it. This was cinematic the first 2 times, the 50th time in a building that is actually the same as the other 50, with an NPC in exactly the same spot, is just annoying. Same goes for the 5 seconds camera pan everytime I click on a save beacon and the annoying letterbox overscan everytime I get some new milestone that I couldn't give two hoots about. Crafting: The UI for crafting upgrades sucks but so does finding new recipes. I love the idea of going out and exploring to find new tech but because its the same 3 or 4 buildings over and over again it drains the fun. Also having to keep stockpiles of resources on hand at all times to recraft all your upgrades if you want to change tool/ship sucks. I want more options to be able to get recipes. I want to be able to trade for them, fight people for them, research them, combine them together to create something new. As it stand right now its grinding landing at multiple outposts, etc and hoping you will find something useful. Summary: This is not a beta game, it is a "finished" product with a AAA price tag. For £40 I expect more. If this was a £20 game I would probably still not be happy but would be a little more accepting. Yes there might be more features coming in updates but that is not acceptable. In a £40 game I expect more than 2 hours of unique gameplay. I would love to see: More animals and more interesting behaviour. Look at ARK for example, loads of groups of different animals that interact with each other and have different behaviours. I want to see GIANT animals that make me run for my life. I want to be able to collect some and use them for research or cross breed/genetically splice them together then introduce them to a new planet and see if they survive. I want to make a cat sized bouncing blob of purple goo my pet and call him squishy and have him follow me through my space adventures. I want to be able to REALLY explore planets, I want unique and interesting buildings/areas on them that are different to every other planet and are more than just a place to put a loot container. I want to be able to move upgrades between inventories. I want more than 2 ship weapons and 3 multitool options. I want to be able to customise my ship, suit and multitool layouts without having to destroy and rebuild everything all the time. I want space ships to fly like spaceships and not blimps. I want every spaceship to be different, some are fast, some have better shields, some have more slots to store minerals, some give you bonuses to mining. There are so many possibilities. I want each planet to FEEL different, different gravity, different effects, much different terrain generation, animal generation to be effected by planet stats, etc. Make it feel real and alive, not the same thing with different models on. I want to customise my ship, let me at least paint it a different colour, let me buy/build extra slots. Let me sell it or store it when I switch rather then just abandoning it. I want to be able to have multiple ships and the ability to switch between them, even more so if ships are not all the same. Even if they stay boring being able to have one ship specifically loaded for combat and another for mining would be immersive and fun.

    Pokémon: GO

There is a new local spot where everyone is going now and it is pretty crazy seeing 50+ people all in one place playing the game. With so many people there the two spots have constant lures going. Figured out that using multiple lures on stops that overlap is not a good thing as you just get a million common pokemon spawning. If you can get 2 or 3 stops close enough together that you can access them all but far enough apart that they overlap you get a load of new stuff spawning. Also found a nest of Dratini not too far away (my nephew caught about 30 in a couple of hours). Also if anyone has issues with lures or incense not working check that the time on your phone is set to use network time. The time on my other halfs phone was a couple of minutes out and it caused some really weird issues in the game.

    Pokémon: GO

Yeah I noticed that too. Was out for a couple of hours and it worked perfectly.
  21. Probably what happened. If it isn't then it is an interesting video as the same thing is seen by multiple cameras in the same place so its not just a bug or something walking across the lens.

    Pokémon: GO

Went out last night to play for about 2 hours, managed to only play for about 20 minutes because of connection issues. Would have thought with the amount of money they are making (and the amount of money unstable gameplay will cost them) they would have solved the problem by now.

    Pokémon: GO

Just to confirm the grass/leaf animation has no bearing on anything does it? I have debated this with more than one person that swears it gives an indication of where pokemon might be but when I first got this game we spent ages walking around them and didn't get anything. Got my first 1K+ Pokemon today (powered up my Lapras)
  24. So much wrong with that picture but the thing that jars me the most is not the random lightbulb in the disassembled PSU but who the hell holds a pair of pliers like that?

    Pokémon: GO

One thing I have noticed is that there is a pretty wide range of people out playing this and it's not just geeky blokes and teenages. From young kids upwards, my sister (in her 40's) is even playing it and she hates games for the most part, there was about 30 people at one of the stops we went to tonight and it a family, some teenagers, a couple of older ladies a group of lads in their 20's and a whole bunch of other people. Everyone was just chilling in the sun, chatting together and having a laugh. Not many phones app's that could claim to bring such a mix of people together in such a positive way. Now to launch a petition for increased 4G bandwidth around here.....
