  1. Your right on the burn out, I'm feeling it myself, I just want to be able to take my daughter to a play center without the fear of putting myself in the hospital. However when all restrictions are lifted it makes that even worse. How can people be expected to work through that burn out when the Government is basically saying "all is fine, go about your business". I have lost count of the number of times I have heard people say things like "yeah come to the pub, its all ok now we are allowed". When you tell the public "its ok go about your business" that is exactly what the majority of them will do. When you even remove the need to wear masks that is sending a very clear message to the majority of people that its time to go back to life as normal. Even if they do have to enforce another lock down now it is going to be incredible hard to get people to follow it after going so far the other way removing restrictions. To me I honestly don't see any logic behind the decision unless your objective is to try and speed up herd immunity by rapid increasing infections, which was their original plan at the start, until they finally got pushed into not being complete morons. All the other lifting of restrictions can be "arguably" justified as a necessary evil to save jobs, economy, mental health, etc. Making mask wearing mandatory has practically zero negative impact on anything, it doesn't impact the economy or peoples ability to do business or work. Making mask wearing non-mandatory only reinforces the "all clear" signal most people are reading this as and increases infection rates.
  2. When enough of the population has been vaccinated for it to actually be effective (over 70%) which is not that far away. Your points on mental health are fair but what effect is many families being left to deal with long term illness and deaths going to have on mental health? Is it worth sacrificing the lives and health of the hundreds of thousands that will catch covid that would not have if we just kept at least some restrictions going for a few more months? The fact that even face masks are no longer mandatory while the infection rate is doubling every 6 days shows that this has absolutely nothing to do with keeping people safe or following the science. Yes some people will continue to be cautious, I'm definitely one of them, however with experience of my local group of people the majority are of the opinion that "the Government says its ok not to be careful now so I wont".
  3. That is actually something I don't think I have ever tried. Thinking about it, it would would seem like starting with your lightest colours and working back to your darkest would make a lot more sense. Its much easier to cover a light colour with a dark one. Just the thought of it though kind of feels like trying to say the alphabet backwards.
  4. That looks great. Really loving the colour on them, nice contrast but really smooth transition between them.
  5. We are watching this too and completely agree. Also watched Wanda Vision which I really liked (it has a weird start, takes a couple of episodes) and Falcon and the Winter solider which was "ok" but not amazing.
  6. Thanks I actually really needed to hear this. It seems that everyone is just going "yeah everything is normal now" when it is so far from it. Around the school for example staff are very lax about mask wearing now and when I have been driving through town I see pubs and restaurants packed just like they were pre-covid. Even people I know have basically gone back to normal life now, only chucking on a mask when they are really forced too. Starting to make my feel like I'm the crazy one for still thinking about the danger and doing everything I can to try and minimise the risk to myself, my family and the people I come in contact with.
  7. Thanks, I grabbed one of these for my Mrs with a couple of smart plugs as its her Birthday Friday. We have a bunch of Google Nests but she wanted a Dot to use amazon Prime music through.

Not seen it myself but both my lads have been watching all the E3 live streams. Apparently xbox/bethesda has been pretty much the only things of interested. They said everything else has been really underwhelming/nothing special. Maybe a couple of interesting indie things but nothing to really get excited about. The only thing they mentioned that was interesting about the Nintendo spot was a monster hunter game set up to be a bit like Pokemon but the rest was "Meh".
  9. My oldest (24) had his first jab at the weekend. He has OCD and was very fixated on not having the Astrazeneca (despite knowing that wasn't going to happen) so was a pretty stressful time for him unfortunately. Thankfully he doesn't seem to have had any actual reaction so far which is a massive relief and will make it easier for him to deal with. My daughter came back from nursery with a stinking cold a couple of weeks ago. Streaming nose, really bad cough, fever. Tests came back negative but then I picked it up last week. All the Covid symptoms except for a fever for me, completely laid me out for 4 days and I basically slept the whole time. Also had negative test results but both me and the Mrs were still worried for a bit as it hit me so hard. Still got a cough and ache a bit but otherwise ok now. Add in that the whole time me and my daughter were coughing our lungs up constantly my poor son had a rubbish time with his OCD Been a bad couple of weeks.
  10. Just had a thought. Seeing as I have a bunch of messed up keyboards now I might as well test a few cleaning solutions on them and see if any are obvious no-no's. Might not show anything as it could be a "degrades over time" issue rather than happening all in one go but worth a look. Will post results if they show anything interesting.
  11. That looks great. I have to say though I hate the old metal models. I have an old WHFB metal hydra that I have tried to paint a few times over the (OMG) 20!! ish years I have had it. Every time I have given up before finishing because the heads keep coming off. I have tried pinning it, a bunch of different glues, Greenstuff and all sorts but its so fragile I just give up.
  12. Hmmm that unfortunately makes a lot of sense for the faults I'm seeing. Looks like the traces between two keys are shorting so you press 1 key and it sends a signal down both traces. I was hoping it was just crud built up but, yeah, looks like I need to replace them. Good to know. Any recommendations on what to use? I have used ISO on a bunch of electronics in the past but they where generally older and more robust. Now I need to find replacement keyboards. Annoyingly I don't seem to be able to just replace the keyboard module as they are held in with plastic rivets. Could "maybe" glue them in but that seems a bit of a bodge and I doubt it would hold up well over time with the typical school use. I miss the days when things weren't specifically designed to be irreparable.
  13. So I have a few laptops here were pressing 1 key gets a different result or 2 character output. Most likely it's due to them being cleaned/wiped down between users and I'm sure I have seen it mentioned on here a few times already but can't find the posts now. How are people fixing this? Just a strip down and clean with Iso or is there any other tricks?
  14. Yeah been that way for awhile, not really much to do with crypto mining, more just there is a real shortage of supply right now. My oldest had saved to build a new gaming rig but we couldn't get a reasonably priced graphics card for months. We had alerts set up for a bunch of online stores but any stock that comes in gets bought almost instantly (probably by bots of resale on ebay). Ended up going for a prebuilt system (from AO of all places). Works out slightly more expensive then if we had built it ourselves but was actually a surprising decent deal and not a bad bit of kit.

I haven't played KSP in a long time but the Steam version used to basically just be the same as the non-steam version. You could just go into the game folder and launch/mod it directly from there. It just used Steam for launching and updates, so maybe better to get the steam version. It is a brilliant game and has a massive modding community which really expands what you can do with it. I really need to play it again soon..
  16. I have an SLR that I haven't used in years. On my phone I just double tap the power button and camera is ready to go so doesn't seem worth carrying another device around. However pretty much the only thing I take photos of is my family so don't need anything special to do that most of the time.
  17. lol. Maybe it's just us, we did watch it pretty late at night and was a bit tired anyway. I really enjoyed both Interstellar and Dunkirk so was expecting to enjoy it a lot more. Just felt to me you could have cut half of it and had the same story.
  18. Me and the Mr watched Tenent the other night. Multiple people had hyped it up to me as an amazing film that I just had to watch. It's not a terrible concept but IMO its a one and a half hour film stretched out for two and a half hours. Just felt like it took a lot of time to not really go anywhere.
  19. I in no way want to take away what he has done and I agree that he is pushing technologies that the world needs right now. However he also has done some pretty questionable things and his whole public image (including his biography) is a very carefully crafted piece of marketing. He builds himself as "King Geek" and "Hope of humanity" and people that love tech buy it hook, line and sinker. I have no doubt he can get stuff done and I 100% believe that his overall goals are for the betterment of humanity. But from what I have seen he seems like a pretty unpleasant person to actually spend time with and he doesn't care who gets burnt in the pursuit of his goals. For example: The founder of Tesla sued him for basically doing to him what was done to Musk at Paypal. Musk has also said a lot of pretty defamatory stuff about him online as well. The case was dropped as Eberhard requested the suit to be dropped which most people believe means he likely got a nice chunky out of court settlement. Last year he shared someones artwork via twitter and when someone called him out for not crediting the artist he tweeted back "No one should be credited with anything ever". Funny since the lawsuit from Eberhard was mostly due to Musk trying to take all the credit for creating Tesla. Then there was his assistant who was working with him for 12 years and basically doing the job of an executive. When she asked for a pay raise to match what she was doing Musk told her to take two weeks off so he could see if he could manage without her. After two weeks he told her he didn't need her anymore. I have seen some people spin this as "well she obviously didn't do much if he managed two weeks without her". I very much doubt though that he just took on her job. Much more likely he just passed the work on to someone else to do that wouldn't complain about it. The same idea carries over to Tesla and SpaceX. MANY employees have said that they were expected to work 70+ hour weeks. Many have said the environment was awful to work in and they are expected to meet unrealistic goals and are readily fired if they don't. Not to mention Tesla suing a whistle blower (and Musk talking Carp about them online) who claims they were knowingly using unsafe batteries. Don't forget he also called a diver that was involved in saving the kids that were stuck in a cave in Thailand a Pedo. Why did he say this? Because the diver quite rightly pointed out that his idea for sending a sub wouldn't work and was nothing more than a publicity stunt. He also recently said that the Government should "give people back their freedom" instead of putting in lockdowns to try and stop the spread of Covid 19. He also opened one of the Tesla factories against government guidelines and had several thousand people come into work. He has also said many untrue and frankly dangerous things about Covid 19 as well. These are just the things I can think of off the top of my head and I don't even really follow him myself.

Playing CP2077 with an old FX-8320, RX580 and 12GB ram. It's running surprisingly smooth even with settings dialed way up. Only issue I have seen so far is that sometimes when switching to a "cutscene" the world textures go dark. Saved and reloaded and the problem was fixed. Only about 10 hours in but having a lot of fun with it.
  21. I'm not a big fan of Musk as a person but damn I love Tesla and SpaceX. The fact that something that cost so much can go wrong and they still (rightfully) consider it a success is what makes it so great. If this happened with any other agency/company they would consider it a major set back. With SpaceX its just business as normal and on to the next one. SpaceX seems to have done more in the last 15 years then any other agency or company has done in the last 50. Same for Tesla and Electric cars.
  22. Was having this conversation with someone the other day. All the local secondaries where I live have closed except my sons. A relative was complaining that the school was willfully putting them at risk and why couldn't they close if all the others had. The only difference is that my sons school has been a lot more careful at isolating them, so has only had to close 2 year groups. The other schools where not as careful and have had more cases so they had no option but to shut. I'm sure my sons school would love to shut as well but is not allowed to do so. In other news I'm not sending my son into school for this last week. Cases around here are going up insanely fast and I just don't see the point in putting us all at risk for the last 4 days. At this rate I'm seriously considering not sending him back in January either, especially after everyone having mixed over Christmas.
  23. Nice. Those runes do look really great! Good idea using it as a spot colour for the panel lines too. Brings it all together but helps break up the armor sections and show up the details.
  24. Where I'm living traffic, both on the road and people walking around, hasn't changed at all since the first lockdown was lifted. We are in Tier 3 but it's just as busy as ever.
  25. I had 2 of these come in so far (more expected). After reading the horror stories I decided to just roll with whats on there, copied installer for Office 2016, chrome, avast(in silent mode) and a few other utility programs. Not exactly how I would have liked to do it but was told I needed to get them out the same day so it is what it is. I didn't actually have any issues with them and they booted and loaded office programs fairly quickly. Test will be how long they last once they get into use.
