Computer Naming in admin areas and offices
DalekSec replied to kennysarmy's topic in How do you do....it?
We tend to do job titles for admin staff and initials for teaching staff. eg - < Device Type > - < initials / job roll > -
I've been using since release, no real issues (few crashes but thats due to me running the preview) We have all our management VMs as Windows 11 also. No issues that any of the Team has raised. We won't be moving suites this year to 11 (no time) but we have new devices coming in for Admin staff so might move IT across to it so the techs get used to it for when we do move.

Go with option B, replace video with 'Never going to give you up' and have a smug smile on your face for the next 50 years on the ultimate troll you are going to pull off.

You add a step in the TS to set device name during the setup. Ours was 1) Boot device to PXE 2) Put in Password 3) Select Relevant TS 4) Name Device 5) Leave to build - Job done

We used to have SCCM (Intune Autopilot now) we used to deploy to all unknown PCs via PXE. This would mean any device connected to the network can PXE boot to the SCCM Task Sequence. Obviously password it down!

Honestly... Nothing also. In a lucky scenario where I have no mortgage, only issue i currently have is my credit card which is full of dentist appointments! Hence why i'm selling my MBP to clear it! -
One last bump before it goes on eBay with stupidly high sell fees!

I got it working in the end, was my own fault! I had 2 cables plugged into 2 different NICs, but the interface was only showing one and I assumed (forgot) that I spilt it across 2 NICs! Moved it to 1 NIC with 2 ports and it worked...

I thought this was a necro thread! Thought it had been EOL for years!

Unsure if I'm missing something simple, I've never setup iSCSI before so! Setting up new DPM storage that is directly connected to one of our 2016 Server Core hosts. Idealy would go via a switch but we are wanting to make use of the 2 x 10Gb connections and we don't have a 10Gb switch! (Plan for the summer to get one) I've connected them both with Cat6a, both NICs are setup with Static IPs and have been teamed on the same IP Range. But they can't see each other, not able to ping and the iSCSI Initiator is saying connection failed when i enter the IP into quick connect. Nothing appearing on the QNAP Nas event iSCSI event logs either!

Best way to blur out student in video?

This, safest bet is not to use any footage with pupils who haven't given permission. -
Ok was partly me being thick, the servers we pulled out were R710s not R720s. The R720 we still have in use CMA does have a notch in the clip, the ones i pulled off the R710s does not. Will purchase these then: https://www.bargainhardware.co.uk/dell-poweredge-2u-cable-management-arm-kit-for-r720-r520-r820-r730 Thanks for all you guys help! TLDR: A R720 one should fit the R740XDs ones from R710s do not
-
Just checked again, The ones we had for R720 defo dont fit on the rails we have for the R740XD. The XD has a bit of metal that sticks out on the inside. From the photos of the CMA kit for it seems to have a bit cut out for it. Which the CMAs we have dont.
-
We have some R720 CMA from the ones we pulled out, unless i'm being thick they don't seem to fit!
-
My google-foo is letting me down, Trying to track down a CMA for our new R740XD servers, only reasonably priced one I've found so far is on American ebay! https://www.ebay.com/itm/192858641641 I see Bargain Hardware has a reasonably priced one, just shame its not for this model Anyone know where i can locate a couple?
