Hello - i've tried to create a shutdown, logoff and restart shortcut on the desktop for my Windows 8.1 users. I've used GPP to create the shortcut which looks like this: The shortcut doesn't appear on the desktop. Event viewer gives me this: Anyone any ideas how I get this to work.

How do you copy the connect.ini files to the machine?

I've never used SOLUS3. At the moment I install it using a script? I would like to deploy it via SCCM.

Hey guys, I'm having problems downloading attachments from my gmail account. Its mainly Office documents. I click to download, I see it at the bottom downloading, I click to open which launches Word but then it just sits on the Word splash screen until Word crashes. Then when I try to open Word on its own I get 'do you want to run Word in Safe mode' Files are downloading to a network drive but I can browse the network drive and open any files instantly. I've reinstalled Word 2010 and 2013 and Chrome. Checked for updates on both but still get the same results. Any ideas?

So, its renewal time and i'm out getting prices. I'm at the end of my 3 year agreement so can start a fresh new 3 year with fixed reduced prices. One company says that isn't allowed and quotes Enterprise Desktop at £39.99 per unit. Another company says yes thats fine we can give you it fixed for 3 years at £32.99 per unit. How can that be? How do I know who is telling the truth....I only want to be covered. Another companies quote came in at over £700 more expensive for the same because they don't "pile it high, sell it cheap" or "don't get into Dutch auctions on price but instead trust that our value add is appreciated by people who want to work with a reseller who understand the sector"... so i'm adding £700 for what exactly? All I want is to be covered, sell it to me anyway you like just cover me! Phew....I love licences me!

Have you tried to rebuild the PXE boot file? I think its as simple as going to FOG Settings > PXE Menu adding your passwords again and saving. Thats what you need to do when you change/update the kernel. I'm not in front of my box at the moment so some of the menu titles above may differ.

Hello, Has anyone managed to get the scripts to pin items to the taskbar working? I've tried the ones suggested on the MS Technet - set everything up and nothing works. I don't even get an event log entry to say whats happening. If I run it manually it works. I've got pinitem.vbs in the netlogon share (vbs from Pin Items to the Start Menu or Windows 7 Taskbar via Script - The Deployment Guys - Site Home - TechNet Blogs) Pinitem.bat as a login script running for example - cscript \\domain controller\netlogon\PinItem.vbs /taskbar /item:"c:\windows\system32\calc.exe" Anyone managed to get it working? Hello all, I'm not 100% on Mac so excuse the thick questions: I have a Mac Server which basically runs Deploy Studio. We have a dual boot system (Windows and OSX). The OSX side doesn't really work that well so people aren't using it. I was going to rebuild the mac server and configure from scratch. Is it basically 1) install Mavericks 2) Download Mac Server from App Store? Hello, I'm using the script but am having some problems. I'm just testing 8.1 at the moment, creating an image and getting things how I want it. I call the vbs using a bat file when users log in. It works for an admin but not for a staff user. Not quite sure why as I haven't applied many GPOs yet so restrictions dont really figure. As an admin I can see it removing the taskbar items and adding. If I log in as a staff user and open an elevated CMD to call the script it runs but nothing happens. Any ideas? Rob

Hello - i'm struggling to my BYOD solution working. I have the following setup: VLAN created on core switches. Meru Wireless - Wired in to Core switch on VLAN created. SSID setup on Meru and tagged to VLAN. Interface on Smoothwall box wired in to VLAN created above. DHCP scope set up on interface. Transparent Proxy setup on interface above. Clients connect to the SSID, receive an IP from smoothwall which is correct. However the client cannot connect to internet. IE just displays 'page cannot be displayed'. Web filter on smoothwall shows the client but only shows whats in the attached image. Any ideas? EDIT - I can ping the gateway. Proxy is setup like this:

Use a global proxy so that it goes through the proxy and the pupils can't change it.

Hello, A reboot of the controller and ap's has resolved this issue. The affected iPads are connecting fine this morning. Thanks for all the suggestions guys - good to know i'd tried almost everything before resorting to a reboot.

It is just WPA2 with key. Scheduled a reboot on the wireless network tonight so will update in the morning. This is a strange issue as there is nothing complicated about the connection process. Nothing changes on the Meru Wireless (nothing needs to as it works) - I only log in once a week to check logs etc so I know the config hasn't changed.

Yes the Meru shows a list of connected devices from its management console

Static IP doesn't give me a connection.

When I log in to the Meru Controller and select the list of connected devices the MAC for the iPads in question are no listed - so they are no cached in the system. Assigning a static IP to the iPad doesn't get a connection.

I'll try the reboot of the Meru equipment tonight and see where I get. All iPads are running 7.0.4. Tried various combinations of resetting the network - simple reset, enable aeroplane mode and reset (as suggested on tinterweb).
