The issue has been resolved. The router ARP cache was cleared and the router was rebooted. Everything just worked after that and is still working Thanks for the replies

@ eduabncs Thanks for your reply. Thats one thing I haven't checked doh! Ethernet cable!! I will try it first thing. I'm lucky enough to have 2 guys from the LA in first thing. If the cable fixes it I get to look smug (he only spent 3 hours here today) @ FN-GM I cannot ping the SIMS server, I can't even ping our default gateway. I know the LA guy tried the nslookup but I don't know the results. Basically we are being blocked somewhere along the line. Blocking access to the admin network, access to the outside world. Very frustrating as the LA won't let me do anything as its 'their' kit! I have double and triple checked all my switches but I cannot see anything out of the ordinary on them. I'll be trying the ethernet cable!!

Hi all, We had a Juniper SSG5 firewall installed on site by our LA a couple of months ago to complie with 'Goverment Connect' and seperate/join the admin and curriculum network. The admin is on a 10.20.x.x range and the curriculum is on a 10.21.x.x range. All has been working fine apart from some small issue like not being able to ftp or VC but these were sorted quite quickly. Our staff use SIMS to register which means we have a mapped drive to sims on each teacher laptop (on the curriculum. This morning all was working fine, lesson 1 everyone was able to login to SIMS and take registers. Lesson 2 it was reported that SIMS wasn't working. I couldn't get onto the SIMS drive map. I could not ping the SIMS server either. Then the users on the curriculum side reported that they were not recieving external e-mails or able to access the internet. A quick inspection ruled out a switch failure or any server issues. Nothing had changed on the network at all during the day or at all this week! I called the LA and they told me the Juniper SSG5 was not responding and could I reset it which I gladly did....still nothing. Anyway a guy from the LA came out and replaced the SSG5 but still nothing. He then changed the cabling to the way it was before the SSG5 was installed. Still nothing.... He went away stumped and with no real answers. If you need anymore info guys I will provide it. As I have not seen anything like this before I don't know what info might be needed. Any help or advice would be greatly recieved.

Sorry I cannot see anything within the User Config to change DDI numbers.

Just realised its some software i'm missing! I will have to dig out the CD. Unless there is a way I can do it through the web interface?

No drop down box here. I have even tried using a pc with IE6 and 7 on just to make sure it IE8 wasn't missing it out on my laptop.

Sorry mate but I don't see any of that when I login. I have found directory management but see nothing in there that rings a bell on how to do this. The 3 options I get when browsing to the webpage are desktop tool, group admin and system admin.

Not sure if this is the correct section We have a VoIP solution installed in school. Now we have several DDI numbers attached to phones. One of the DDI numbers was used for a fax machine. I can't for the life of me find the config on the mitel switch to attach the now free DDI to another extension. Hopefully someone out there can help me If you need anymore info just give me a shout. Thanks Matt, The only problem I can see from the picture provided on the link i posted is the DC power socket on the splitter. Having not used one of these before I am thinking that I will have to plug in 12 plugs (as I have 12 APs) somewhere for these to work. From what you have said it sounds like I can use the PoE switch I purchased to substitute the need for the plug.

Hi, I did wonder! The problem is that my supplier failed to send me APs that supported PoE (me ordering a PoE switch at the same time didn't click in!) However when I explained they came back with this Business Product I have been told it works but again have never tried it. I thought the power injector switch would be just the same. Please feel free to comment

Hi, Can I use a power injector switch to provide power to Wireless Access Points that are not PoE enabled? Something I have not tried before but would like to know before it goes ahead. Thanks

I have found the solution to this: The size of the security log was set to 130mb. I changed it to the default of 16mb, cleared the event log and now the services.exe is down to 6mb. Thanks for the suggestion ricki Rob

Hi, Our server has just started to run extremely slow, also slowing the network down considerably. The only thing i can see that is different is the memory used by the services.exe process is very high. Its running on about 200mb, which it shouldn't be. There isn't anything in the event logs to suggest a reason why. I'm running Windows Server 2003 R2. Have any of you seen this before and found a solution for it? Thanks in advance. Rob

Hi, I have not had chance to look at this properly yet However the privacy issue you raised actech makes for a good argument for me to get out of doing this (as it is wanted for tomorrow haha) It does seem to be a long winded way of doing things but i like to look like i'm going to help before saying no lol Thanks again for you help and suggestions

Hi all, I have been approached by one of the ICT Teachers about putting specific information on a users desktop. What he wants is the attainment grade for each indiviual pupil to show on the desktop when they log on. So for example if user 'abc' logs on, in the bottom corner it will say something like Name: ABC - ICT Attainment Grade - B. The data will have to be pulled from an excel sheet which matches the username and then pulls the grade in for the pupil logging on. I have used BGInfo before but i have not been asked to do anything like this before. Is it possible?? I would be greatful if someone could point me in the right direction. Many thanks, Rob

Hi, Thanks for the replies so far. We have an internal cachepilot handling the web filtering. The firewall is hosted by our LA. The e-mail domain is hosted by Easynet. Easynet setup their DNS to point to mail.mydomain.com which is our internal mail server. I got the external IP of the mail server from the LA. The LA also opened the ports required for OWA. The cachepilot doesn't do anything other then filter i hope. If you need anymore info just give me a shout. Thanks again Rob

Hi, This is my first post so be gentle! I setup an Exchange server during the summer holidays. Everything is working great sending and recieving etc. However i had to dish out 2 addresses to access OWA from school and home. In school we go via mail/exchange from home we go via domainname/exchange. How do i set it so that we only have 1 address to access it? Whenever we type in domainname/exchange in school we just get page cannot be displayed. I have tried all sorts. Thanks
