I tried to avoid Vista also, but alas i still have to deal with it ocasionally. It does sound like the BSOD issue. It is repairable, i can't remember what i did but it was something along the lines of slaving the hdd, removing or replacing something on the drive and returning it to the original PC. If there's not to much on the PC, might be easier to transfer the files and just reinstall the OS.

I've seen drives given a pass by their respective diagnostic software, but then have noticable problems. Might be worth changing the sata cables. We had some drives in RAID here that had problems, it turned out to be the cables.

I've got round most BIOS passwords, apart from Sony. HDD passwords are tricky, they use a part of the drive that's not normally read. I have had one unlocked remotely over the net, it cost me less than a tenner.

When it isn't being detected is it spinning ? Might be worth getting a new drive and cloning the old one, and replacing the sata cable.

I've seen a couple of wine and juice spills on laptops. It's never ended well for any of them. The liquid should be thoroughly cleaned from the inside of the laptop imediately and not left to dry out naturally. The sugar attacks the electronics. I would suggest stripping the laptop down, you'll probably find a spot on the motherboard where the wine has slipped through the case and corroded it. If you can find a cheap motherbaord on a site like ebay it might be worth it. Otherwise you're probably better of selling the bits and buying a new laptop.

I have used Intel and OCZ vertex drives in recent builds. I had an Intel drive fail on me in the 1st week, right after i'd set up all the customers software and transfered over his data from his old PC. It was a rare bug aparently, the drive only showed 8mb. I installed 60Gb OCZ vertex drives as the PCs are only going to be running 1 peice of software in a retail environment and thought they'd be less likely be affected by heat and vibration. So far impressed with their performance.

I was under the impression any retail or OEM Vista disc contained all versions except for enterprise. Depending on what key you put in, depended on what version was installed. You needed either 32bit or 64 bit disc though.

We had a suite of computers, where randomly some would go to sleep. After doing some calculations on power consumption i guessed the PSU wasn't up to the job. We had the suppliers swop all of the power suplies and the problem went away. They showed exactly the same problems, only a restart would cure it, and there was no light on the USB mouse.

Unplug everything that's not needed like the cd rom, it is rare but i've seen faulty devices stopping a PC boot. Might be worth removing it from the case and testing on a bench. Do you have another CPU to try also ? and finally have you checked for leaky capacitors ?

Is there some Samsung or Broadcom software handling the wireless ?

We have security stickers with a barcode and a number on most of our stuff here. Pointless here though when the kids rip the stickers off.

We have CLP-620 and ML-4550 here. No problems with the students and staff printing with their XP machines, but my Windows 7 64bit PC has problems printing to the ML-4550. I get an "invalid handle" message sometimes when i try to print, but other days it prints fine. We also have a Windows 7 64bit laptop in the college and that had problems printing yesterday. I haven't found a solution, but then i rarely do any printing, and i use the colour if the B+W doesn't work when i need it to.

According to their site http://uk.ts.fujitsu.com/rl/servicesupport/techsupport/professionalpc/ESPRIMO/Datasheets/ds_esprimo_edition_p2x10.pdf you only have 2 PCI slots. Might be worth taking the side off and having a look inside.

Have you tried Slysoft Virtual CloneDrive ? SlySoft Virtual CloneDrive not tried it on a Terminal Server but runs on Server 2003r2 happily.

Have you got a spare CPU you can try ? The last laptop i encountered that powered on then off was down to a dead CPU.

Try backing up the drivers with something like Driver Magician Lite Free driver backup software, Driver Magician Lite Uninstall the realtek stuff. Search for new hardware, use the backed up wireless drivers and you should now have windows managing your wireless which as K.C.Leblanc said is the best way to go, specially at logging on.

Maybe remove the heatsink, clean off the old thermal paste and use something like arctic silver ? Install speedfan Download SpeedFan - Access temperature sensor in your computer to check temperatures and also the speed of the cpu fan. I've seen overheating casued by a fan not spinning fast enough.
