  2. Another thumbs-up for the MacMini server... really can't beat it...
  3. Download the entire site's source into a folder on your machine... load up Dreamweaver (if you have it), set up a site in there, with your local path as the site source, then you can do a find/replace on the entire site's source code for the common URL found in the links... remove it manually from each page... check all include files also as it's probably it's included in a header file that is used sitewide, hence it ends up on every page. Was any work done to resecure the site after restoring from backups? Otherwise, the hole they exploited is still there waiting to be exploited again... Personally, I'd abandon waiting til summer and move to the latest Joomla release asap to ensure any recent security holes are closed. Your next problem is: is that source code featured in the backups? If not, the site's been hacked again since to put it there. If they could inject code into pages, you need to check all form inputs as it could be logging and forwarding all login credentials used... potentially you've got a huge security risk there. Either find and fix the issue, or take the site offline temporarily until you can get a GUARANTEED clean site up there.
  4. Check DNS servers that are setup on the iPads... find a ping app to install, whack it on, and try to contact the mailservers with that...
  5. For laptops, I always got to MCS Technology Ltd - some proper bargains on there... with full warranty.

  7. My main issue with the site is the fact that it's had a huge BASE64 injection attack at somepoint that's dropped a huge pile of spam in the page headers... just hit view source on it. without atacand buy prescription and example, medical illegal are discount hoodia without prescription average mg detrol x pills 60 2 for FDA, for nexium buy are cheap lamictal without prescription drugs, orlistat. of no cheap herbolax rx some For For in numerous seroquel 60 pills x 300 mg a where and commitment receive discount hydrocodone cod phone pharmacies. drugstores, zyrtec online cheap address did but private that buy prinivil online neurontin know researchers provide sidestep description ionamin greater avodart cod arimidex prescription no a online phone within mentat c.o.d cheap physician drug pressure requip buy cod Association a the seroquel c.o.d cheap from and order liv.52 c.o.d with the overnight cheap delivery differin that discount clarinex no rx illegal illegal between without *snip* ...and there's a lot more of it than I've quoted... EduGeek restricts post lengths... So, the site has been exploited via an open form input box... insufficent sanetizing going on somewhere... you need to tear thru the entire server... preferably, flatten and install from known clean backups, as you don't know what else has been injected and where (eg: IRC Daemon running from tmp etc etc). It's showing up on every page in the source... am guessing it's either your "Contact Us" page or your login page that needs it's code reinspecting. It's definitely going to be a publically accessible form input somewhere on the site. Fortunately your CSS prevents the above dross from displaying when the page is rendered in the browser, otherwise I think OFSTED may have had a VERY different reaction to it's content.
  8. Used to play 2nd tenor horn for Balderstone BrassBand in my youth... these days I organise / sound engineer more events than I play at (regardless of instrument - I play quite a few)
  9. In RMMC: Configuration Settings > User Types > Pick required UserType > General section > Expand 'Specify where personal data should be stored' - this deals with the folder redirection within N:\ The actual full UNC path is defined by the folder structure under Users... ie: Expand Users > Expand Server > Expand Students > Pick a folder (OU), right click, properties. Base path for users is shown under 'Location:', username is appended per user. However, the mapping itself is defined within Active Directory as the user is created, via a script within RMMC. Head onto one of your Domain Controllers that hosts users, open 'Active Directory Users and Computers', browse thru the OUs to a student account. Right click on the account > properties > Profile tab. Profile path is specified in the 'Profile Path:' field at the top in the format \\SERVER\RMSTUDENTPROFILES\YEAR\USERNAME Mapping of UNC to N:\ is specified under 'Home folder' at the bottom... 'Connect' set to N: 'To' set to UNC of the users' share in the format \\SERVER\USERNAME$

  14. iPads CAN handle proxies, you just can't lock the proxy details in via profiles using Apple's iPhone Configuration Utility. They have to be entered manually after the profile has been installed.
  15. Go direct to manufacturers (eg: HP) and let them cherrypick their best retailers. You'll get best poss prices on hardware and more value-added stuff than you can shake a stick at.
  16. Try putting a 3 part fqdn in hosts and use that instead of just machine name - don't think hosts file overrides netbios, which I suspect is your issue.
  17. Yep there are plenty of RDC clients out there for iPxxx devices - RDPLite for instance. There is also a full MS Office Compatible Suite for iPxxx devices - QuickOffice. You can access all your network shares, so no need for cloud services - NetPortal. ePortal already works on iOS devices via the web browser. Calendaring and eMail can all tie into MS Exchange, or the Apple equivalents running from an OSX Server, ie: Mac Mini. Personally - daft idea. There is nothing an iPad can do that a laptop can't do. You probably already have laptops. If staff aren't organised enough to handle their meeting planning etc using Outlook etc on a laptop, they're gonna be no better at it on an iPad. They're just looking for eye candy.

    Creating an App

Correct - not possible without a Mac, hence I went for the web-based app route rather than the appstore app route.

  24. It's doable, but my workload is too high at the moment to get the block rewritten... have been juggling stuff for a few months now to try and get me the free time to get it resolved, but work are being slightly less than co-operative on the matter!
