  1. [emoji23] kind of agree. That'll be interesting. Good luck, dude.
  2. Fair enough. If you do have a lot of work on yourself then it does make sense. It's a shame though, a lot of schools and colleges would be in a better financial position if they gave guys like you the support and resources you needed to do the tasks. Short termism, sadly.
  3. Come up with a plan and present that if you can. I was a Web developer for an FE college for 10 years. I now work as a Web developer for a commercial company. (Probably similar to the ones that came to do your demos). Honestly, the head probably just wants a quick turn around and something "flashy flashy" to show off. The problem is, once you commission a commercial company to so your website, and they'll almost definitely go WordPress, and rightly so. It's the best tool for this sort of job. They'll customise it heavily. You'll then end up in an almost endless loop of paying them hourly or daily rates for changes, tweaks etc. And definitely avoid any company that wants to build you a fully custom theme. There are so many great managed themes out there that can be customised to your needs, especially in the later versions of WordPress using the block editor etc. Truth is, return on investment for a school already struggling won't happen if you go with an agency development. It'll be money down the pan. Propose they invest in strengthening your team and build it yourself using a decent theme that's managed and updated constantly alongside WordPress standards. Where required maybe ask for a day or two's consultancy to get you going if you need it. But yeah, even though I now work for one of those companies, if I was still working on the college I would take that approach any day! Good luck mate. Let me know if you need any help.
  4. I did find it out. Turns out the customers never go into the database for ldap in otrs. It uses transparent queries against information in the ticket tables etc. Only agents are stored in the system. So I was looking for something that didn't exist. Also, my baseDN had a spelling error! Doh! And you need to specify the authenticated user by their full distinguished name for it to work. Hope that helps.
  5. Having a similar issue, I can see the customers from the dashboard and log jobs against them etc. I just can't get them to log on to the portal. I get incorrect password or username. But I know they're right. Have you solved your issue?
  6. Hi all. I'm trying to set up a helpdesk system using OTRS. So far the set up has been simple. But I've got a problem. I've used a script in the config.pm file to get users from AD (2008R2) directory. I can see the users, I can log jobs against them, everything works. Except.... When I try to login to the customer portal it just says username or password incorrect. It isn't, I've reset it, I've tried everything. Anyone had this issue before? I'm using version OTRS 3.3.9 with Apache2 and MySql on a Linux debian box. Any help would be great, I'm on a deadline!
  7. Hi, I had a similar issue. My problem was the VM settings after restore didn't match the original configuration. Processors and RAM etc. I've had loads of headaches with DPM and VMs. Sometimes opening the configuration files with notepad++ can help find the error.
  8. True, true! I'm going to get the NES out of the loft and complete that game using the key combo! Perhaps I'll give the magic Kingdom another go, if I can Google where I was previously stuck!
  9. I think the fact that you couldn't save the dam game on the NES made it that much harder. I remember having to start from the beginning every time I lost my lives or was forced by my mother to turn the console off! Had I had a memory card I think it might not have taken me the three years or so to finish! But I'll always be a retro gamer, although I love the graphics and game play in modern games, and the depth of the story lines. You can't beat the games you grew up on.
  10. In which settings did you enter the Apple ID? Having the same issue!
  11. Sorry guys, looking at my post 'autocorrect' has made a mockery of me so apologies.
  12. Hi all, I've been asked....I say asked, I've actually been told that the college I work for want to use the wise terminals we currently gave running xendesk for VDI to now be using verdes virtual bridges instead. Has any one else had much experience doing anything similar? Just to make it a little more interesting, the WYSE terminals are located on one site, with its own domain, and the server running the application is hosted on another site with another domain, the idea is to allow people to access their desktops from the other domain by logging into our thin clients. I know VB are java bead, could that cause me any issue? Also the other domain and server is owned and locked down by capita it services......should I give up now!haha Any advice would be great, Cheers Rich
