  1. You only live once so follow your dreams, I've worked all over the world including many years in Cyprus, in fact my daughter was born there. I would go back tomorrow, it has always been my dream to move back when I retire.
  2. CD Burner XP (cdbxp) it's open source and good, it's on all our computers as standard
  3. we have cashless vending, if the server or network fails then the fall back is cash, having said that we have never had all vending machines "off line" in the 2 years we have had them operating. Our support is great, phone up first thing and they are out the same day. We also look after and check them on a "first line" basis after being shown how to by the support firm.
  4. does not the "everyone" group only get permissions to the root, to go further to folders and sub folders you need to have domain users or something like that added to the the security permissions
  5. If you have a Smartboard go faulty under warranty and contact Steljes they send out a local sub contractor to repair it in-situ, this is how ours are repaired and we have about 100 and they tend to get broken with regular monotony.
  6. we have a couple of Tesco pay as you go mobiles that only we know the numbers and when our techs are out of the office they take one so they are "always" contactable.
  7. Open source PDF Creator is the one we use
  8. No that is fact, it has happened to several Educational establishments over the last few years, check out the BSA or the FAST web sites. The advice is to cover yourself with everything in writing and tell the Head Teacher / Principal what actions you are going to take i.e. removal of all illegal software.
  9. Ultimately if you run the network you will be deemed the responsible person for the licenses, you should give your management the following warning to safeguard yourself, you will be removing all unlicensed software asap. If you are caught it runs into thousands of pounds in fines and you will lose your job.
  10. We have been using Helpstar for the last 5 years, all jobs are created via the web portal or e-mail, good support when we have had the rare problem.
  11. Been here nearly 2 decades, what did I do wrong?
  12. Unit-e from Capita, if you use it you'll know what I mean
  13. Don't give them "full control" just "modify", then they can't delete the actual folder just the contents, it save a lot of hassle believe me
  14. If it has a plug going into the projector it has to be a socket on the wall or the power link, you can't have it hard wired, this could lead to a live lead hanging about. no qualified electrician would do it that way as it breaks health and safety rules
  15. Miracle worker!!
