  1. Does everyone use one template for everything or is it best to have separate templates?
  2. So if the school uses onsite exchange, what would be the best thing to do? Do vidahost do everything for me or would i have to get SWGFL to release the domain name?
  3. Hi I'm Looking at moving away from the LEA/SWGFL and i want to know what happens the the SMTP Store and forward services and the Domain name registration service? Can i still retain these services domain by moving suppliers? and if so, how? Many Thanks
  4. If i was to virtualise either freepbx or 3CX, what hardware would i need for the ISDN lines that we currently use? I think we currently have 8 ISDN lines.
  5. Weird why it's coming from staff as well though!
  6. Apologies, I can't browse to the site.
  7. Hi My filtering is flagging up a domain name as malware but i cant browse to to the site or find any information as to if the site is legit? The filtering is displaying traffic from multiple users (staff and students) going to flappysquid.net/sp?cb and under IP 52.89.23.197,52.25.83.185 and 52.26.60.70. Does anyone now what this site is for? Thanks
  8. Will PDQ deploy redeploy to a station automatically if it has been reimaged? Or does it need PDQ Inventory aswell for this to happen?
  9. Found out what the issue was. On that particular server, the ip address of the old DC was in the DNS forwarder. Just out of interest, on DC1 i have the DNS forwarders of the SWGFL DNS servers and on the other two DCs, forwarding to DC1. Is this correct or should the forwarders be of external DNS servers on all DCs? Hope that makes sense!!!
  10. I have just setup added 2 x 2012r2 DCs and demote 2 old 2008r2 DCs so we now have one 2008r2 and 2 2012r2 DCs and im getting an error on one of the new 2012r2 DCs when i run dcdiag /test:dns Below is the error and the IP address is that of an old demoted DC that had DNS on. the other two DCs test fine. ive checked there are no nameservers or DNS entries with that IP so not sure what could be causing it?
  11. Even though the zones are AD integrated?
  12. The Zone transfers are not enable. Should they be? Also in terms of the IP address for DNS in the network adapter, it points to another DNS as the primary and then itself as the secondary as per many recommendations.
  13. Hi Ive just added 2 x 2012r2 DCs with DNS and in the properties of most of the zones, the IP address isn't resolving for the local host. In the picture below, im on svr-vm-dc1 (2012r2) and the IP address for the svr-vm-dc1 is showing as unknown. Its the same for svr-vm-dc2 (2012r2) however, its fine when i check on the 2008r2 DC. Any ideas? Thanks
  14. In the network adapter, IPV6 is unchecked. Does that mean its on somewhere else?
  15. Is there a reason why when i ping the localhost server (in this case my new 2012DCs) it returns the IPv6 address of ::1? IPv6 is disabled so i'm just curious to know why? Thanks
  16. Do you share the Users or 2014 or somekid folder?
  17. Im just about to migrate our student and staff file servers to 2012r2 and i wanted to know what structure people use for the home directories? Below is ours currently and each users home folder is shared. Is this the best way or is it better to share the root folder such as Students, or 2014Intake and not have the individual home folders shared? Thanks
  18. Do you need layer 3 switches for the IP phones and phone system or will layer 2 be fine? Im not sure if you wanted to make use of the network port on the phones, you need a L3 switch? Our core switch is layer 3.
  19. Yes. Making sure the DCs sync with an external NTP and not using vsphere to sync the time. I think its a reg key that needs to be changed so that it points to an external NTP.
  20. So you backup DC1 first then once complete, you backup DC2?
  21. So in terms of backups using Veeam, should i definatly backup both virtual DCs at the same time or seperate them by half an hour or so? Also is there any special config required on the 2012r2 DCs? I just read about time synchronisation and the virtual DCs should poll an external time source. Is this correct?
  22. aleach2 recomends that you dont backup at the same time whereas im with you. It makes more sense to backup at the same time!
  23. How far apart do you back up each DC?
  24. Do you make sure you backup both at the same time and did you have to config any extra setings on the VMs or VMware?
