  1. The second would be for failover, just in case!
  2. Defiantly to expand in the future. I've looked at view but I thought the features like Xenapp were better.
  3. Its good to know people's point of view with this, that's why I posted. I've been doing months of research and to be honest I find my self going round in circles half the time! I've been to one school using XenDesktop with over 200 clients successfuly. Im also looking at Xen for the longer term to try and reduce the cost of hardware spent in ICT Suites when refreshes are needed.
  4. The solution that has been spec'd out for me has two hosts with 8 146 SAS drives in. Not really sure how it load balances etc. Im guesing there is a provisioning server on each host but im not 100% on that.
  5. The Xendesktop Setup i was looking at doesn't need a SAN either.
  6. Hi Everyone In the summer im looking at implementing VDI namely Xendesktop and XenApp. Im looking at a basic startup setup with 2 servers with 2 x 6core CPUs and 96gb RAM each and 40 VDI connections. Im just after opinions really, good and bad on other peoples implementation of XenDesktop/XenApp and any potential road blocks i could come across? As i dont have much knowledge on how to implement XenDesktop, if anyone can PM details of good companies that they have had to do the install would be great. We do run software like Solidworks 2012/12, Adobe CS3 master suite collection and MissonMaker so feedback anyone using this software in a Xendesktop/Xenapp environment would great. Many Thanks
  7. Does this software act as a radius server as well?
  8. Just found out that the logs can be zipped or deleted. Thanks
  9. We use offline files though for Teacher laptops
  10. I never resolved it either. I think people are just putting up with as no one esle is complaining of it.
  11. Looking at the log files, they appear to be IIS logs as the header on the log files is #Software: Microsoft Internet Information Services 6.0
  12. Hi Is it safe to delete or archive log files in the directory C:\WINDOWS\system32\LogFiles\W3SVC1 on my exchange server? the C: drive is almost full because of the logs in this directory! Many Thanks
  13. Ive now noticed that im Getting the follow Kernel Gerneral logs saying: The system time has changed to ‎2012‎-‎05‎-‎01T19:37:40.646000000Z from ‎2012‎-‎05‎-‎01T19:37:40.646062500Z. The time is an hour behind!!!!
  14. VMware Ive ran the command on DC2 so i will check tomorrow to see if it throws up any more warnings. DC1 was already syncing with ntp.swgfl.org.uk
  15. Glenda, DC2 is virtual where the problem is occuring. DC1 is Physical Michael, should i run the command on the problem DC?
  16. Hi Everyone On one of my DC's im getting an event log warnings around 19:30 every evening saying "The time service has stopped advertising as a time source because the local clock is not synchronized." followed by: "The time service detected a time difference of greater than 5000 milliseconds for 900 seconds. The time difference might be caused by synchronization with low-accuracy time sources or by suboptimal network conditions. The time service is no longer synchronized and cannot provide the time to other clients or update the system clock. When a valid time stamp is received from a time service provider, the time service will correct itself" Its only happening on DC02 as DC1 and DC3 are ok. Has anyone come accross this before? DCs 2 and 3 are VMs so not sure if this is part of the problem. Many Thanks
  17. Thanks Chris

  20. Did you get the drive issue sorted?
  21. Are you going to use XenDesktop or VMware view?
  22. Does anyone use sophos anti virus with VDI? im looking at going down the xendesktop route and im curious to know how the VMs would cope with the sophos AV on them? especially when it comes to updates. Many Thanks
