It looks nice, the music is emersive, the sounds are incredable, the visuals stunning. It makes you feel like you're really in the world of Star Wars. As a game, it was very 'arcadey' IMHO and there was not much replayability in the beta. There was no sense of team work like you get in games like Battlefiled 4, and very little in the way of tatics in either game type. Most people were just running and shooting like loonies or racing to get to the pickups to get a go on the AT-ATs, AT-STs, Tie Fighters etc etc. It also seemd to be rather 'imbalanced' (I don't think I played a single game where the rebels held off the attack on Hoth). This of course led to lots of moaning from one team and a lot of 'Quit b*t**ing noobs!' from the other. Personally, I'll be leaving it and picking it up at a later date when on sale.

In that case, try \ rather than \ when trying to install the agent.

Very nice, but at £950, it's a tad expensive!

Nothing specific. As it's coming up to 4 years old I was simply thinking about what alternatives that are currently avaiable (something I've not thought of before) if something does happen and I can't repair it. Second hand ones on eBay seem to be carrying a premium on eBay so wanted to see what options are out there in terms of alternatives.

I like having my vast music collection on my iPod Classic. Alas with Apple having retired them last year (and my iPod getting on a bit) I was having a think about the alternatives that are avaiable. When it comes to replacing it, I'd like a simple device like the iPod Classic that can be used purely for playing music. I don't need a iPod Touch with access to lots of apps and not much storage space, just something to play my music, audiobooks and podcasts with around 100GB of space. What options do I have?

If memory serves, it's because the SOLUS3 backup via command line does not have the date and time auto included in the backup file name. I believe it just calls it "solus3_deployment_server.bak", and if a backup already exists, it falls over trying to create another backup with the same name. Try this and see how you get on: DBATTACH.EXE /BACKUP /AUTO /SERVER=MYSERVER\SIMS2012 /DATABASE=solus3_deployment_server /USER=sa /PASSWORD=MYSAPASSWORD /PATH="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SIMS2012\MSSQL\Backup\SOLUS3_Deployment_Server_%date:~-4,4%%date:~-7,2%%date:~0,2%_%time:~0,2%%time:~3,2%%time:~6,2%.bak"

If schools have their SLG hosted at County and get the SIMS Summer upgrade before the SLG has been upgraded, it will break. Also, it seems a large amount of schools have ONLY had the SIMS Summer database release authorised meaning the database could potentally upgraded to Summer 2015 and everything else will be left on spring breaking it completely.
-
If you're an Authorising LA and release the upgrads to your schools and are using SOLUS3, you may well find Capita have released the upgrade directly to them!!! Check your SOLUS3 LA DS. In some instances Capita have ONLY released the database upgrade! We have auto deploy enabled accross the board!!!

[sims] SIMSSQLApplicationsSetup.exe - Unable to install due to 'lack of space'
Bubbles replied to Bubbles's topic in MIS Systems
For info, the drive has been shrank to less than 2GB and the installer now works so it was a drive sizing issue. Capita have also said it is a know issue and something they are looking at for future SIMS releases. -

[sims] SIMSSQLApplicationsSetup.exe - Unable to install due to 'lack of space'
Bubbles replied to Bubbles's topic in MIS Systems
Hi, It does seem to work on a smaller drive. Guess I'll have to log a call with Capita then, I guess as there are a large number of DLL files in the installer, I can't just 'install' them to another drive and then manually move them accross into the Binn directory. -
Hi, We are trying to migrate to SQL2012. The school is fully SOLUS3 but the migration tool is running a SIMSApplicationSetup.exe to install the SQL components but the installer is failing causing the reconfigure of the database on the SQL2012 instance to fail and roll back. I've pinpointed the issue to this installer, and running it manually results in this error: The SIMS data drive is 3.5TB in size and only 110GB is used on it so there really is masses of space. We've not heared of this issue at any other school but no other schools have drives this size so not sure it it's the root cause? Any advice welcome.

I've started getting to grips with C# with a few online resources but sometimes find them 'patchy' or fragmented meaning hopping between sites which sometimes makes the go more confusing. Ideally, I'd like a quality book to ready and code from that's concise and clear. Not sure if C# for Dummys is any good or if any one has any recommendations? Or, any online resources in similar style? Thanks in advance

[sims] How to Automate SIMS updates on clients - Solus 2
Bubbles replied to lionsl2005's topic in MIS Systems
SOULS 3 is broken. It does not effectively upgrade schools with more than one database, the Local Authority deployment report does not update accurately, upgrades fail and get stuck during "roll back" leaving systems inaccessible, and this Spring upgrade is causing the SQL service to die in a large number of schools when applying the SIMS database upgrade. -
[sims] SQL Service stopping during SOLUS 3.9 Upgrade to Spring 2015

A number of other support units appear to be reporting this on Capita's My Account Forums. -
Also, why 4 votes?!

[sims] SQL Service stopping during SOLUS 3.9 Upgrade to Spring 2015
Bubbles posted a topic in MIS Systems
Has anyone experienced issues with upgrading to the SIMS Spring 2015 release via SOLUS3.9, and finding the SQL service is stopping during the first SIMS Database upgrade? -

According to the article, Apple were one of the first to sign up?

Indeed. Even more annoying now is I have to reconfigure my phone from scratch again! Oh well, you live and learn!
-
Oh dear. I seems I've failed heavily on this one. The sound in the video is a Kitkat ringtone called 'Spagnola Orchestration'. On my old phone, I had a sound profile app to manage volume levels for home, work, car, bluetooth connected etc. I restored the custom settings backup into the app on my Nexus 5 and looking at the sound profiles, the notification and sound ringtone names no longer show, but instead they seem to have what appears to be Unique ID numbers for them. Opening my e-mail notification sound and selecting the ID number took me to the list of ringtones and had the aforementioned 'Spagnola Orchestration' ringtone selected. My Nexus 5 was 'ringing' every time I got an e-mail!

I have just this moment completed a full factory reset on it. I've completed the basic activation of the handset but I'll leave it before restoring all my apps and data to see if it happens again.
