This is a separate package. I created each of the Adobe programs in separate packages so I have more granular control. It's pretty common error by the sounds of it.

Hi all, using Adobe Creative Cloud Packager I've just successfully built the msi package required to install Acrobat Pro. When running the install on my machine I'm asked to close Windows Explorer (I've read that this is normal), but what happens after my desktop goes black is that I get this error: At which point clicking OK or Cancel both result in the dialog boxes closing and my desktop staying black, and me having to refresh windows explorer in task manager in order to restore my desktop. Any ideas please? Many thanks.

Yeah, that makes sense. I can see that there is folder redirection for Desktop and Documents applied at User level. I believe that offline files had been enabled up to a couple of weeks ago at Computer level, but it was removed due to it causing issues with desktops. So because this has been removed, although the desktops are now OK, this has had a knock on effect on laptops when off the network, i.e they're still looking for the network location, correct?? If that's the case, how would I tell the laptops to stop looking for the network location? I've put the user in a new test OU and disabled GPO inheritance so that folder redirection doesn't affect but still getting the message in the above screenshot.

Hi all, our staff laptops are having issues when outside of the domain (ie at home), in that when logging on, it still seems to be wanting to find the network version of Desktop, Documents etc. When inside the network there are no issues. This is what happens as soon as they logon at home: I have placed one of the affected laptops into an OU that has no GPO's affecting it (just to eliminate an incorrectly configured GPO), done a gpupdate /force but we still get the above warning. Am I correct in thinking that if it was indeed an incorrectly configured GPO that caused this in the first place, then removing the said GPO will not undo the "damage" so to speak?? Am I going to have to make some manual changes on each affected laptop to correct this? Many thanks.

Quick update on this. Done all the above but still machines are not at the logon screen. I have got the correct GPO setting haven't I? The machines are sat at this screen: And in order to prompt the login username / password fields, we have to CTRL+ALT+DEL or hit any key.

Yes, Interactive Logon is indeed a Computer Configuration, and I have it applied to an OU containing computers, and not users.

Not sure I understand that fully. Currently the GPO is linked to the OU with security filtering to Authenticated Users

The same settings were being applied to the Computers OU but not working, so I created a GPO in the OU which contains all the machines in the suite (this should take precedence), but still not applying despite the policy being received by the machines.

Hi all, I have configure the GPO Interactive logon: Do not require CTRL+ALT+DEL and scoped it to a small suite of W10 Enterprise LTSB machines, however the policy does not seem to be working. Having done rsop.msc on one of the machines, the policy is there and shows the source GPO as being the correct one but it still doesn't have the desired affect. Bit of a head scratcher. Any advice would be most appreciated because it's little things like this that prevent me from sleeping at night! LOL Ta very much.

Ah, OK. Yeah, we have SIMS, I didn't realise it had such a function for after school activities. In the absence of a data manager, and the likelyness that we won't be getting one (more jobs put on other people without remuneration, but that's a separate thread moan!) I shall take it upon myself to investigate this further. Would it be an additional module that needs adding to core SIMS?

It would depend what features you're looking for exactly but we use asset tiger. And it's free :-D

Hi all, I've noticed that our admin ladies are having to email out to all staff nearly every day after school, asking staff if they have xxx student with them because their parent is on the phone. Teachers are not always quick to respond, and sometimes don't respond, and the admin ladies and indeed the school can sometimes look a bit silly not knowing even if a student is on the premises. I'm looking to implement something that is really quick and easy whereby teachers will have to 'register' or log a student as being with them after school, and the admin team have instant access to it to see if a student is still in the building. We have InVentry visitor system and that has something called club reg but it's not designed to work on desktop Pc's. I wanted to know if anyone else has anything in place or any suggestions? In the notification tray there is a deslock icon, right clicking it give the student access to various settings such as FDE, key manager etc. I'd rather just try to hide all this so they're not tempted to play.

Just so the students can't log out of desklock and or change any settings.

Hi all, we have some student laptops which have deslock encryption running on them. Thing is, the deslock icon appears in the notification area in the "Show Hidden Icons" area (the little upward arrow next to the clock and date). I've had a search around our GPO's and can only find an option to hide the notification area, but this also hide the battery meter. Does anyone know a way (preferably via gpo) to either hide the "Show Hidden Icons" link, or only show the battery meter and date/time? Many thanks.

Yeah, i've not looked into this before but have just had a mosey round dhcp and found a Deny policy under Filters. Just to test I added the mac address of my mobile and although I had to turn my device wifi off and back on again, it failed to get an IP so it's all good. Not instant but will kick in the next time the user comes into school. Cheers!

Hi all, you'll probably need more info here but I'll supply what I think maybe needed in the first instance. We are soon to become part of a multi academy trust so I don't want to invest in any software which they will most likely do away with come easter time. Just looking for a quick way to prevent a user from connecting their mobile device to our school wifi. Far be it from me to tell the user what they should / shouldn't be doing outside of school, but when their mobile phone is creating web filtering policy alerts, I would like to stop them from joining our wifi. We have aruba AP's and smoothwall web filtering if it's possible via one of those, or maybe there is a way of stopping DHCP issuing IP's to their mac address in the future? I'm not sure. Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks.

We do have Sophos Enterprise which we purchase through our LEA, so we only get the 'package' that they, in turn, have purchased from Sophos........and they didn't buy any endpoint protection. Hence me looking for a third party solution.

Does it affect the speed of laptops much?

Hi De Hi! After this half term break I will be rolling out around 20 new Windows 10 laptops to some post 16 students, and around 50 of the same to teaching staff. I have only one issue remaining unresolved. I don't know what to use for protecting the data on the laptops if stolen. I have a demo of Deslock tomorrow so will see how that goes but I think it maybe pricey. Although I do have an annual non curric software budget, I wouldn't call it a generous one. I've heard that bitlocker is hard to configure and manage. There are only two of us (reduced from a team of four over the last 12 months) so I'm looking for something easy to manage. Might also roll it out to the desktops. Ta very much.

Yeah could do. I just like to be around, just in case anything goes amiss. Scheduled Windows updates might be the only option being as staff think their access to services is much more important than network security.
