  1. So one last bit then (I m just being careful!) I can install 2010 on another server and do nothing more than exchange windows update, keep all dns records, webmail configs pointing to 2007 and nothing will be different?
  2. Hum.. I might just do this over a weekend Just seems so confusing trying to get it to run side by side
  3. So just lastly (Just being careful) as soon as I move one user to exchange 2010 I should point my DNS to the 2010 server, if a 2007 user hits that server it will direct them to 2007?
  4. I was told when I install exchange 2010 it will ask me to 'co-exist' so you're saying I can install exchange 2010, tell it to 'co-exist' but if I do try and move anything/ change DNS the exchange 2010 will happily sit there doing nothing?
  5. I mean on the left side of Window explorer bar does the network icon show? I would remove libraries also is home directory/ gpo directories set correctly?
  6. Offline files set? DO you have correct permissions set? do you have network on the windows pane so they browse and delete stuff?
  7. To add to this they have all their eggs in one basket, they only use parentpay as a 3rd party thing
  8. NRS have always been good and quite supportive though aviod parent pay like the plague! first few days this term were awful!
  9. I ve read many guides and I m confident to start upgrading from 2007 to 2010 there is one thing I m abit worried/ confused by. As soon as I install exchange 2010 will it take precidence immediately? I m worried because I will have to change all the DNS entries and I dont want much email downtime. I also have my MX record (webmail) pointing to server05.school.local so should I change that to newexchange.school.local or have two mx records?
  10. for this all I do is fill Sunday P1 - P5 with the word WEEK1 then following WEEK2
  11. I m pretty sure its a DNS issue but unless I saw it cant think of aanything else
  12. Well what VM software are you using?
  13. Is your VM bridged? dns event viewer showing anything? put virgin in dns forwarders?
  14. Did you install DNS separably or within the process of creating the forest?
  15. Should there be anything else in the dns? i.e. other servers/ pc's? I m abit confused by how post is going, when you're dcpromo'ing are you making this a new forest or part of a current domain?
  16. does 'creator owner' have permissions?
  17. Sounds like a DNS issue, should take more than 3/4 mins max
  18. Well I would look into why you had that issue in first place I ve done 3 dc's to 2gb and went as nicely as can be though I only have those servers as pure DC, DNS and 1 DHCP no files etc..
  19. ?????????????? Mine has 2Gb and been up for months
  20. when you say new install, completely new domain?
  21. *Have you had any faults recently? i.e. lost domain controller? *PDC giving any errors in event log *Checked ad replication recently?
  22. You didnt accidently delete the OU?
  23. Worked a treat, thanks thats why boys and girls dont use the dc for other services
