Verkada have a really nice solution without an NVR but the pricing is quite high. Also apparently Meraki have one as well but I was never sent any pricing for it.

Depends on the quantity, the more you get the lower the price. I think for the 2 units I'm trialling it was around £190 a year per unit. But they are fully featured, there is no extra subs needed. Each unit has the ability to do, screen mirroring of all devices, digital signage, lockdown/emergency alerting, messaging. Then there's loads of bits like being able to send just Videos/PowerPoints to the displays rather than having to share a whole screen. You can also just setup a clock or a timer on the screen without the need of having a device hooked up to it all the time, which is quite handy for exams. I would definitely recommend having a demo or a trial unit to really see what they can do.

I've been trialling a couple of Vivi boxes and I have to say they are actually really good. I have been impressed with how they work and they are quite feature rich as well. You can do a lot more than just screen mirroring with them.

Afternoon, Seen a few discussions on here about syncing SharePoint libraries and how long it takes and what a pain it can be. I came across this article and which goes through the problem and gives a proper working solution to the stupid 8 hours sync time that Microsoft say. Syncing your Team Sites with Onedrive and Fix Delay issue (call4cloud.nl) Hopefully that helps some people. I've tested it and it worked pretty well in my environment.

For those using AutoPilot and Intune, how quickly do the computer apply the policies and how effective are they? Espeically shared devices, are they consistent for each user?

I had something similar a while back and had to delete the expired certificate from the NPS server before the clients would connect and the correct cert would be used.

Hi All, Quick question. When setting up a print server do you set the default paper size on the print queues to A4 or leave it as default? I have a fleet of Kyocera devices, when I set the driver default to A4 paper size all is well, until users then want to print out A3, so they set A3 print in word, but the print driver just scales it to print on an A4 page. If however I leave the print driver set to Letter as default everything works fine as you'd expect, so when a user changes Word to print in A3, this is reflected in the print driver settings. Am I missing something or is this normal behaviour? Cheers

I've got an Industry standard HA setup with a pair of FortiGate 200Fs and they are working brilliantly. The filtering works and you can filter and secure as you normally would against categories and you can also re-categorise and create custom rules as you would expect. The only difference I found was the need for some better reporting and that is where FastVue came into play. It has integrations with various industry standard firewalls and is able to pull out all the safeguarding reporting that you would need.

I highly recommend a Fortinet solution, it is really good if you also invest in their full system for switching and wireless as well. You get full single pane of glass management and does a really good job. I would however always say it is worth using FastVue Reporter on top of the firewall for safeguarding reports and alerts. Also give @Wave9_Lee a shout and he can advise and give you some decent offerings as well. 100% would always move away from Smoothwall though.

I found the pricing cheaper or in the same ball park as some alternatives such as Cisco on the switching and they were definitely much cheaper than the current HP/Aruba pricing. Some companies refused to quote though as they didn't get the deal reg on the project. 100% the way to go moving forward.

Morning I have actually just gone down that route this summer. I replaced an Smoothwall (which I had many issues with) for a FortiGate 200F (well 2 in HA). I also replaced all onsite switching with the FortiSwitches and they are now all managed by the FortiGate and honestly the ease of management on them is incredible! They were super easy to install and having that single pane of glass management is wonderful! I am yet to replace my Unifi APs but have tested and know of other sites manging their FortiAPs with the Gates and once I have the budget will be rolling out the FortiAPs. One thing I would point out though is for Safeguarding reporting, it is worth getting FastVue Reporter as well as the default reporting is not the greatest, but I think that is the same for most firewalls to be honest. Happy to have a more detailed chat if you want and can hook you up my with Forti partner as well if you wanted more info from them.

Not going to lie, it is one of my favourite pieces of software/tools that I have ever implemented. Their support is really good as well. I'm still not using it to it's full potential but will get there eventually.

HaloITSM is the best system I've worked with ITSM Software | ITIL-aligned Service Desk Software - HaloITSM It's the most flexible and scaleable I've ever used. It can hook into various other systems. Auths with Azure, and can sync users in. Can create a customer portal with KB and different forms. It honestly is the best system I've ever used for running an IT department. It can also be spun out to other departments as well. Also does things like asset management, change management and project management. Well worth the money.
