So do I basically need to add the accounts operators group to my staff group so that they can change passwords? How could I then have this set so they could only change passwords of students in a different ou? Sorry but I have been pounded into a soggy ball of thickness by using CC3 for the last 18 months!

Shoot, Don't tell me that! A bit late as the domain went live during the summer hols.

I have the wisesoft password chaning software on my staff workstations but they do not have permissions to change passwords. Does anybody know what I would need to do to fix this? Thanks

I get the following... Primary IP = 10.60.28.53 Current Hostname = prentonhigh.internal DNS Hostname = prentonhigh.internal The names match there is nothing to change. The problem I can see here is that is the old domain name and the new one is prentonhigh.local Do I need to update my DNS for this??

Over the summer our network was moved from CC3 to server 2008. As a consequence we have a new domain. I now need to let my macs know this! I havew tried updating them with directory utility but it seems to be really slow to do anything and even after I change the domain it won't log on as a domain user. Do i need to change more than just the settings in Directory server? Thanks

Hi All, Over the summer we changed our network and I have just coked up our truancy call machine. I changed it's name and now when I rebotted it, it is not part of my new active directory. So it won't log on to the new domain BUT also I don't know the local admin password to get back on to the machine. Is it possible to add the machine back in to active directory as I have tried just adding it but it still doesn't log on. thanks

Not sure Love is the right word! I just moved to 2008 over the summer so I'm still finding "features" all the time.

To be honest I'm stuck right from the bit when you have to change IIS settings as it looks so different! I'll take another look tomorrow and give more detail. IIS just doesn't seem to have the same options?

Has anyone managed to install the Devizes booking system on Server 2008? I have not worked out how to use the new version of IIS so I can't follow the instructions.

I have just found file screening on server 2008 which should make my life easier. However I can't see if it is possible to use it to screen files running from a USB drive. Can anyone tell me if it is? Thanks:D

Half fixed it now, in the modulesettings.asp file I needed to change the groups that staff and admins are in to skip past the windows authentication box. So now I just need to find out why the system itself is not automatically logging the users ini. Again if you know,please help!!!

Over the past few weeks I have installed new Servers and created a new domain. I have now changed my server with the Devizes booking system over to the new domain but I am having problems. Rather than automatically picking up the users from Active directory I have a Windows log in box pop up. Then is i log in as a user I get to the booking systems log in screenj and can't log in with any AD userrs only with the built in admin user? Any ideas? Thanks

Hi All, I'm still working through some problems on my brand new server 2008 setup. None of my clients are picking up the time from the server and therefore other things are failing. Can somnebody give me some pointers please? I thought that the clients automatically got the time from the server when connecting to the domain??

Hmm, mixed results. The password solution from Geoff did work but it just moved me to my next error! The images are not moving across to the storage server. The /images folder has a 4kb file with the name of my first image. When I take a look in /opt/fog/log/fogreplicator.log I see the following message being repeated every 10 minutes... "Failed to connect to database server, will try again next iteration." My sqluser and password match up in the Fog Storage nodes settings on the web console and in the /opt/fog/.fogsettings file! Anyone any idaes at all? Thanks

Sorry, I didn't explain properly. My fog server is stillfine but i don't kow what the username and password is to connect my storage server to the main fog server. It did not give me them Does anyone know what the default ones would be? I have found what I think is the encrypted password in /var/www/fog/commons/config.php but I wouldn' know how to decipher this?

I'm unicasting, with a queue of 10. Now then back to storage. I have installed fog storage over the top of an install of my old 0.27 server. All seemed fine but it didn't give me a username and password as it said it would in the documentation. Does anyone know where this might be located?

I am finally using fog in anger and have noticed that it is much slower to register hosts etc when an image is being sent out to one or more machines. Not too much of a problem BUT if I was to install a storage node would this help with speed? Has anyone else done this and noticed an improvement. I am using 0.26 after using 0.27 which seemed to be even slower but looking back I think it was just that when it working slowly it gave me no feedback.

Oh YEs, I managed to get my Library to buy this about a year ago just so I could read it. It is a really clever and different way to tell a zombie tale. Not quite as depressing as most either!
