My understanding is if you purchased 1 x Windows Server 2012R2 Standard it allows Phyiscal server and 2 VMs to run If you needed 4 VMs on the same server you either buy 2 x Standard licenses or a Datacentre license. But what happens if this physical server was running standard server but the VMs were hosted on a SAN. Physical server hosted 4 VMs, i assume 2x Standard licenses would be needed?? SAN setup... if you have 2 or 3 physical servers and a SAN or 2 x SANs you would go down the route of datacentre. but would you need 2 or 3 datacantre licenses?

ive just had to re download and re import into apple configurator. this was advice given by apple vpp in America. shame they couldn't tell me why this happens. worked though #happyschool now

does anyone know how to insert a logo, so that it appears on the default login page to sharepoint.

Just wondering what people are using software wise for children on iMac's we have the usual iPhoto, iMovie, Pages and Office 2011 We need curriculum software. Especially for Early Years. any suggestions Thanks

osx-server.yourdomain.internal/mydevices I have now successfully enrolled one iMac, which now appears on Profile Manager. using my test login the settings I restricted didn't work, but I feel one huge step closer. Thank you very much for your help so far :-)

in the osx server (left hand side under accounts, users I see all my AD users.) click the user and right hand says (not allowed) under profile manager same user I have applied some basic restrictions to start with to make sure its working. like you do for the ios apple configurator. but when logon to any imac the setting restrictions do not apply. within profile manager I cannot work out how to get my imac's to appear there

ive just installed a trust profile - Which is unsigned on a iMac on the profile manager I can work out how to make it appear in the device group. OSX server is very new to me

my school is new to this iMac and OSX Server. I have my iMacs on our windows network pupils can login and see the home directory. Osx server is running. ive created a test group with restrictions applied. like taking away settings finder etc, but these settings do not apply to any of our 3 iMacs. Stumped. anyone shed any light? thanks

schools has signed up too VPP, its all working well with the iPads and iPods. We have now bought 3 new iMacs. they look very nice :-) Apple's VPP representative have asked me to create another Apple ID under the main VPP account. I have tried doing this but I now have to wait 3 days for the 2 stage verification to be switched on to allow me to add another Apple ID. This seems rather over kill to me.. School want to get the 3 x new iMacs up and working asap. We plan to buy iMac software under the VPP portal, we will then get a spreadsheet of redemption codes to use on them. Question is do I need more Apple ID's or can I use the main VPP ID to use on the iMacs and redeem the codes? Would this work? Would this be legal?

cheers abillybob I thought VPP would also apply to the iMac. Still getting used to these Apple :-)

we have 3 new iMac 2.15 running latest OSX. I plan to get them working on our active directory with school users logging into them. Probably look at running OSX server at some stage to help control user settings. What I cant really work out is am I best creating 3 new Apple ID's or just using the main Apple ID that school has.

signed in without a apple ID and you can update the OSX but any apps installed like pages wont update until the ID is put in

hi sorry for any confusion. the 3 new macs will not have apple configurator on. they are to be used just as workstations. as the school use VPP they get software slightly discounted. So my thinking as to buy an extra 3 codes per software so we can use them on the 3 new Macs. What im not sure of doing is to use the main VPP account on the new macs. As each of the Macs will need a Apple ID to update software. If I create 3 x new apple id's then how would I use our VPP codes.

Our school is using VPP and Apple have two email accounts. First one is registered against VPP and is authorised by Apple. Second one is then created within the first emails account. First one is used on the Mac mini or Probook, second one is used for buying Apps from either the app store or VPP online. Usually we get redemption codes, import codes into apple configurator, for this to send out to the iPads or iPods. Question is what do you do when you get 3 Mac workstations. School have just taken delivery of 3 large screen Macs, they want the same software on as they have on iPads. I am unsure what to do next without messing up any redemption codes etc. Do I simply use the first apple ID account on all 3 Macs, and create a local user for people to use. Way I see it is that if school created 1 ID for each Mac we would have to buy Apps at their full price. Any suggestions? Andy

Nic drivers fully up to date

hi we have a Server 2008R2 which isn't running AD. its the schools SIMS server. The server is fully upto date, drivers and windows updates. When using the server, if I go to the mapped network drive F:\ (SIMS folder) it blue screens the server. If I go direct to the data which is sat on this server d:\SIMS\ server works fine. If any workstations use F:\ Mapped to this server - Server still works fine. Its only when any user that's logged into the server and uses mapped F:\ it blue screens. Even create new administrator and it still does it. Hardware is fine, hard disk test ok. HELP :-)

Maybe Apple need a new "CEO" Apple did confirm to that in app isn't possible and will probably not happen

we have the same issue at one of our schools. they have 32 ipads and we are still no wiser in how to do in app purchases. did you manage to resolve this issue? thanks Andy

Just about to replace a SIMS server. Attached is a spec for Dell t110. I would usually use the t320 series but this school is strapped for cash. is the t110 with 16gb ram enough Thanks Dell t110.pdf

can just ask a few more questions about using it? once users sync, can you get it t auto pick the correct license on office 365 and regional settings or do you still have to do this manually is it possible to have andyb as login to network and andy.barker as the email address cheers james

I added in my email domain name to the active directory trust, the OU I set to sync didn't have any users. someone has moved them out :-( just created a new user with the UPN set to my email domain name. now just waiting for sync to hopefully see good results. Technology!!! lol

well that's strange as ive not changed anything, but yet all my users on office365 have gone. but the OU that is meant to sync no users have appeared. I ran the powershell cm last night too

James thanks for taking time to try and help me, its very much appreciated. Just realised I am also following you on twitter :-) I have just forced sync via powrshel. the users within my AD are al still active, I cant delete these as they are stll needed. these till also appear on office365
