Afternoon all We have a large amount of these Asus net books and until now we have been installing xp onto them, networking and then giving them to departments for students to use. However they have been nothing but trouble as they are pretty poor at doign anything, they really dont like xp and once theyre networked it can take 15-20mins to log into them. So i gather i take a look at one right out of the box with its linux install and asus's easy menu setup. The only functionality we require is internet access and to create word docs which can then be saved to usb sticks, whihc right out of the box this works great, a quick entry of the proxy details and its sorted, it reads usb pens with no issues and it has open office installed, great! But there is a slight issues with regards to the file manager as it allows you to browes local networks and for th elife of me i cant figure out a way to remove that option but am convinced there will be a way to do so. has anyone had any experience with these at all? thanks

just a quicke note to say the above fix worked

Hi folks, were having a problme with ours, it seems to be loosing its keystone setting everytime its turned off so everymorning it has to be reset. Anyone else having the same problem or have any ideas?

We swtiched from virgin to SKy and never looke dback, sure im not getting 10mb like i was befor ebut im pretty happy with the 6 that i am, i also dont miss the restting of my modem every 10mins because the connection had flaked out, in the time ive been with sky which is almost a year now ive restarted my modem twice, once of these was just to move some cabling around. I actually pay £10 for the 20mb package knowing im not going to get that speed but it is completely unlimited unfilterd and no fair usage crap

We have always had an issue with kids on the school grounds after hours, larking about drinking smoking vandalising things, weve had a few instances of malicious vandalism such as breaking windows and have had a number of things stolen from offices in the past. Id say 9/10 if you were to come on site in the evening or weekend there would be kids hanging about. Rewind to monday evening, cctv shows a number of lads onsite drinking and mucking about, it then shows one of them throwing, what was later id'd as a vodka bottle, through a classroom window... But then what it didnt show (as the camera is on a rotation and it panned out of view) was this idiot some how managed to cut his arm... quite severly as we could tell from the amount of blood that just had to be powerwashed off the concrete and at a seating aread where it trailed off too.. also at this seating area were two t-shirts drenched in blood along with a pair of what was thought were boxershorts.. the police kindly took them away. Now quite obviously this nice young fellow (who we now know who it was) had gone and done himself some mischief and hopefully will think twice about what he gets up to in the future..

My Mp Voted for, but she is a complete and utter waste of space and a Labourite roll on 3 weeks time when shes out of here along with the rest of Gordon and his cronies...

has it ever gone back to ms for an offcial fix?
