Hello, Our systems are running Win10 Pro and I have deployed a GPO to put them on the Current Branch for Business. Now the 4 month delay is past and the Win10 AU is going to start showing up around here . I know one of these mornings I am going to come in to unhappy people whose computers are displaying a slide show about the "Exciting Features" presently being installed instead of .... oh I don't know TEACHING! I think I am out of options to delay the update any longer, so what I would like to do is trigger the update via a gpo so at least I can control when and where it is applied. Anyone find a way to do this? Thanks David

Hi All, We are a small school deploying a handful of new Lenovo M83 ThinkStations. They have come pre-installed with Win7 Pro. I would like to upgrade one to Win 10 and get it configured then do a simple clone to the other two systems that I need to deploy to the same work area. These systems have their Windows license embedded in BIOS, I believe. Is there a chance in heck that this is going to work for us, be legal, and result in a Windows install that can be activated. If not what do you suggest? I see info on Windows Imaging and Configuration Designer is this what I need? Will this even work without a volume license deal? Thanks. Sorry I am so clueless. Seems like this stuff used to be easier.

Hi All, I am working on an environment where I have ~300 AD users on laptop and desktop systems running Win 8.1. Roaming profiles and folder redirection is running, and the laptops also have offline folders enabled by GPO. We want to get away from the roaming profiles to reduce complexity since our users don't move from machine to machine much anyhow. We want to keep folder redirection turned on. I assumed just removing the profile path from the AD user account would disable roaming and when the user logs in they should get the local copy of the profile. This is how it worked on the laptops, but on desktops when the user logs in, even if they have been logged in on that computer before, the computer acts like it's a first time login and they get the whole "We are getting things ready for you..." slide show that windows does for a first time login and they land on a default desktop. Can anyone explain to me what is going on here? Am I wrong about a local copy of the profile being created automatically when a roaming user logs in? Thanks

Hello, We have been using a SonicWall NSA 240 for the past three years or so as the firewall and web filter on our small school network of about 200 nodes. We are presently looking for a different solution. Our experience with SonicWall has been okay overall and we will consider a different SonicWall device. The firewall component has always worked perfectly, and the web management interface is easy to use. The filtering is pretty good. Our basic goal with filtering is to block major distractions like facebook and major bandwidth wasters like streaming video etc, and to make sure that a child will not accidentally get porn up on their screen while searching for something innocent, and if they go looking for it it should be at least challenging and it should get logged. There have been some challenges. Blocking facebook for instance using the site blacklist feature worked until we realized all kids had to do to get around that was use https://facebook.com/ (SSL Site). To cure this we turned on SSL control which decodes the SSL request to see what URL is being requested and blocks based on that. This worked, but for unknown reasons caused problems for certain SSL sites that staff and administrators needed to access. The biggest problem we had with the SonicWall NSA 240 was getting it to allow different levels of access to different users. In our case we wanted to allow youtube access for teachers but not students and to generally allow teachers much less restricted internet access. We configured SSO and set it up to authenticate against our AD. This seemed to work well at first but then is started to fail intermittently when under heavy use during the day. We have never been able to figure out what the trouble was. I have also not been overly impressed with SonicWall's support site. It just seems way more difficult to find information there than it is on other site I use. I always get the impression that not alot of resources are going towards supporting this device.
